How many of those are you planning on getting?

My list is.

- 22" Meinl Byzance Heavy Ride
- DW 9700 Straight/boom stand
- Area Rug
- Or a 500$ Gift certificate for L&M.
probably the rack, the CD's maybe the wii and some video games...

Josiah 11-22-2006 04:19 PM

Ahh hmm yes I thought it looked close.

Should throw the hat's on the up beat, and change the kick pattern to the songo one instead of a samba one.. but you said trax messed up so i dunno what it was supposed to be.
Interesting, I bought some Pin's hoping for that good in-home thump & just switched my G2's over as Reso's, tuned the Pins down to just above wrinkle & reso's pretty loose to and to be honest, they aren't ANY more dull than G2's over G1's?

Then I cranked the reso's a little tighter to see what happened, it took some resonance out, but they still are quite full & open.

I know I dont want to try Hydro's, but how does everyone come up with Pin's are dead, I just dont see it.
That answers your second question.

My guess is you don't know how to tune. There's a massive difference between Pins, G2's and G1's.

You put Pins over G2's, and could not tell the difference between that and G2's over G1's.

That says it all right there. You aren't tuning the drum.

Check out the Tuning Bible and start your journey into the world of great drum sounds.

I'd start with keeping the reso and the batter at the same pitch, and just working with the range of the drum equally.

Janeway 11-22-2006 04:31 PM

I told this work rep guy at school that I was going to become a prison service professional because I still have no idea what I'm going to do...

He went into a big, long shpeal about Attica that I didn't really care about.

We_Love_Lime 11-22-2006 04:40 PM

what the hell is a mac mini?

Josiah 11-22-2006 04:42 PM

A mac in a smaller box haha

That's an absurd christmas list really...

Berk 11-22-2006 04:43 PM

He said he didnt want all of it.

We_Love_Lime 11-22-2006 04:44 PM

That's what I thought.
Hopefully mine consists of a Straight Stand, Brushes, Stick Bag, and a Groove Wedge.
That might be my Birthday + Christmas combined too.

Berk.. If he doesn't WANT all of it. Why would he ask for it?
He said he might not get all of it.
Which is perfectly logical.

haha yeah dude. We spent a good 10 hours last night and 30 bucks on pizza deciding on new names and fixing up a new place that is going to be used for shows.

Were really starting to like the name though but people arent taking us completely seriously because of the name but we give 150% at every show we play so hopefully we can start playing more out of state shows.

Im liking your band name man.

Josiah 11-22-2006 04:46 PM

Exactly.... (we love lime)

Brushes! Good call. Retractable regeal tip my friend!

Have you tried out the groove wedge? I don't find it that useful myelf.

maniac0796 11-22-2006 04:46 PM

I might be getting a tama artwood or a tama starclassic snare of ebay if the reserve is low enough. I spent the other half on my maiden tickets.

I'm gonna ask for a metronome and some drum books from other relatives though.....
My guess is you don't know how to tune. There's a massive difference between Pins, G2's and G1's.
One would expect a HUGE diff, but there wasnt.
I can tune (Im sure Im no expert) & have the Tuning Bible
You put Pins over G2's, and could not tell the difference between that and G2's over G1's.
As hard as that seems, yes, I guess I should have added, DRASTICALLY different, of course they were different, just not as much as I expected & not NEARLY as dead as most on here say.

Im still tweaking, but overall disapointed in Pin's.

maniac0796 11-22-2006 04:47 PM

We sat in the library with two huge dictionary's, a polish dictionary, and a thesaurus trying to make up band names. It didn't work. we decided you make them up whilst dicking around or something....

Any Ideas on what your new name is?

maniac0796 11-22-2006 04:52 PM

We came up with talweg to decadence at the end of it. And we decided no cos we couldn't stop laughing at the word talweg.

so we settled on nuclear winter for now....

The Ska Man 11-22-2006 04:53 PM

I found it a bit funny that his Ipod can hold 20 gigs more than the the mac mini..I want a new comp, though. Mine is retarded. It's soooo slow(but it's a good computer), yet, when I run virus and spyware checks, it says it find nothing..
Any Ideas on what your new name is?
Nah. One of our friends came up with Indian Summer African Burn. Nobody liked it though.

However, I was drunk one night and came up with A Box of Kittens Stuffed with Pillows. People liked that though haha. Somebody said instead of My Dog Does my Homework, that it should be My Canine Does my Studies. It got a big laugh.

Yeah.
I wanna start playing some Amon Tobin stuff for our Christmas Talent SHow.
So I might pick up those Rectractables (Thanks!) before that than.
He uses a lot of Brushes in his songs.

And I have a 10 inch snare Josiah. My only snare ;). Either I get a new snare (14x5.5 Copper or 15x5 JR Robinson Sig) or a Groove Wedge w/Jingles.

I mean, I don't know Josiah? They seem pretty useful for a 10 inch snare. I haven't had any experience with them though.

Yourself?

Aaron 11-22-2006 05:04 PM

Josiah knows where its at for brushes: Regal Tip Aluminium handles.
I own four pairs of brushes now, i love them to death.

We_Love_Lime 11-22-2006 05:05 PM

Rectractable with Aluminum Handles?

Aaron 11-22-2006 05:08 PM

Yep:

Berk 11-22-2006 05:35 PM

What type of Font is like Cursive?

Janeway 11-22-2006 05:37 PM

Jesus fucking Christ.

I didn't see my mother at all today. She got home an hour ago, she asked me the normal questions and I responded in the normal fashion. She's cooking dinner, and she's looking for a box of dehydrated onions. She asks me where they are, and I tell her I don't know.

Then she acuses me of using them all. =/

Wtf? I don't cook, first of all, and second of all, why the hell would I use an entire box of dehydrated onion flakes? But apparently, it's my fault. I go to help her look, and she flips out and starts screaming at me.

It's a little weird realizing that you're in a better mood at school, which you absolutely loathe, than in the comfort of your own home. =/

I didn't even do anything.

Ill Mitch 11-22-2006 05:39 PM

I dunno, dehydrated onion flakes are pretty delicious.

We_Love_Lime 11-22-2006 05:44 PM

Thanks Aaron.

Win A Rabbit 11-22-2006 05:45 PM

I have to buy some brushes next time I'm in the city. I loved playing with brushes on the school kit, but never got around to buying any for myself.

Also, do any of you guys have links to how to make myself some rutes? I liked playing with those, but can't dish out the $20 for a pair when I know I could make them for <$5.

ludvista29 11-22-2006 05:45 PM

I want those things, but I know I'm not going to get them all, I just have a bunch of things because idk what people can get or afford, I'd be happy with just 2 or 3 things off the list.

Aaron 11-22-2006 05:47 PM

I made rutes out of Barbeque squewers. Not the thin type, the thick type. Bundle heaps together and put rubber bands around them, then melt wax over the end to seal it and put tape over it to keep it from rubbing off.
