guitarists suck horribly at keeping time

no u
Because guitarists are never satisfied with what they've written and are always trying to improve their music. Problem is they try to improve it in the middle playing the song, and it doesn't always work out.

And guitarists are forced to play so many boring songs that they get drowsy and offtime.

Jon you're such a fag :)

But when you're playing covers that first point doesn't work and the second is silly because they chose to play it. I had to play straight Punk beats to keep them even close to on :-\ So much for progressive drumming in a Punk setting :p

Or they continously go on playing retarded stuff trying to write a song, and 'cause the rest of the band to go insane. And not even a good insane, it's a bad one. Honestly, I've never met a guitarist that has the ability to just write something good, and not extremely long and boring.

Or it's just more difficult to keep time as a guitarist.

Eliminator 09-10-2006 07:46 PM

in my band i don't choose to play anything

Psh, we play more than a few covers that I really have no desire to play. And even if the song is good doesn't mean it's not an increadibly boring song to play. I add some many octave chords and stuff to the Finch songs we play, and I harmonize a lot more than is supposed to be harmonized in Unholy Confessions.

Your drumming throws off rhythme. Anyone would get off time.

Eh, writing something that just sounds good is way too easy, and it's usually boring to play.

I usually don't write songs with my band though. They're no help. plus I need more time than they have patience for to write a lead riff I'm satisfied with.

MattSharpIsCool 09-10-2006 07:49 PM

Guitar players think they're a gift from God.

When really, they arent.

EVERYONE plays guitar. Very few people on this earth don't, and they're mostly just from Japan and don't know wtf a guitar is because they banned them so they'd have more space.

Seriously though, come on people..learn to sing and play bass really good, rather than being just another ****ty guitar player.

Dog Boy^^^: Drummers can be idiots too. In fact, most of us are. With a few exceptions. Actually to be honest, I don't really know any drummers who don't think they're amazing, aside from me.

If there was such a thing as a good bass player, than yeah, I'd agree.

Bass is boring to play, I do sing, and I could never do anything as a drummer (my friends have tried to teach me).

I'll stick with my guitar.

Playing more notes and filling in sound is fine as long as you keep the same rhythm. I'm all for making boring songs less so.

Haha, no. I accent snare or bass hits on the quarter every time to keep time, all the ghosting and such in between shouldn't throw you off.

Exactly.

(Your about to hit 1k ..)

Jon: There are ton's of insane bass players. Just too many ****ty ones to out weigh the bad.

Edit: If the ghostin' throws you off, then your not a guitarist, your an idiot with a stick covered in strings.

Eliminator 09-10-2006 07:53 PM

Not really.

Bassists can't write music, either.

jaco pastorious is one of many reasons to hate bass players

omg my bass player can't even write his own ****ing bass lines

MattSharpIsCool 09-10-2006 07:56 PM

Matt Sharp wrote plenty of good music for Weezer, and he played bass.

But that is, most likely, because he's cool.

My bassist writes pretty but simple piano music. It's weird.
