Does anyone else think The Soft Parade is a better album than Morrison Hotel? I was quite surprised when I realized I like Soft Parade more. Soft Parade may have some cheesy sounding songs, but it is much more energetic and fits together better as an album. I find Morrison Hotel mainly sounds dead and tired, it's got good songs but there isn't the normal energy you find on most Doors albums. Peace Frog can tear apart anything from The Soft Parade though.
I'm going to have to give Soft Parade a listen. Peace frog owns, though. |
I'm going to have to give Soft Parade a listen. Peace frog owns, though.
The first time I listened to Soft Parade I turned it off a few songs in because I couldn't bear to listen to it anymore. After I listened to it a few more times though I understood what it was all about. They just took a much different direction from Strange Days. edit- Plus it features quite a bit of Kriegers songs, and Paul Rothichild overdid the production. My top three favourite Doors albums are Strange Days, The Doors, and LA Woman. I also dont' like how Waiting For the Sun doesn't have a real album closer. It doesn't feel like a real Doors album, just a collection of songs. |

I can kinda see what you mean with Waiting for the Suns poor outro, but I think almost every song on their (My wild love is a bit tedious) is really good. Strange days is really unique and their self titled is a classic. Morrison Hotel has more of a blues/dirty rock feel to it and I kinda dig that..but theres some really useless tracks on their as well. |
Walrus sorry to disapoint but the blonde for is gone, it's now just a wavy shag thats done to about my shoulders.

If anyone wants anything...
amorica and live from the black crowes? i'll reciprocate if needed. http://english.skivsamling.nu/show.pl?orderby=artist+asc&id=30408&offset=all |
I just found some of my mom's records and got 7 David Bowie albums and a George Harrison record.
|
Going to see Cream, eh? Good stuff.
np: The Pogues - Fairytale Of New York. Thanks to Splat Out Plath for this awesome song. |
Yea, so does anyone know what the deal is the the American Express presale thing. Is there a limited number of tickets they can sell or could the whole show sell out?
No idea. Right now, the only Cream tickets avaliable are right behind the stage. I've never been to MSG for a concert, but my brother who has been said that the stage had a backing, so I wouldn't be able to see anything. Should I still get the tickets? |

It depends on how much you're willing to spend. I'd go for it if I had the dough. |

Which Harrison album is it? My dad had quite a few David Bowie albums. |
If that's like The Rolling Stones thing, where you're getting tickets behind the band, where you can't really see the stage, then I'd advise against it. Unless you're a really massive Cream fan, I don't really see the point in getting tickets to a gig where you can't see the band or the stage, especially given how much you're probably going to be paying, personally.
I don't really see the point if I can't see the band at all either, but I think better seats will go on sale on Monday. I'm going to wait for better seats, but I really need to go to the show. |
jpj : Don't know if you remember this but I'm downloading Sailor right now, after not ever finding it around here.
If you want me to send via e-mail I would be glad to. |
I'm listening to The Doors live at Hollywood Bowl...somehow the names got all mixed up though, I was expecting When the Music's Over and I got Horse Latitudes, and then I expected Alabama Song and I got Light My Fire. Oh well...

Yeah, I noticed that. I was like WTF When The Music's Over is the first song that they played? Hardly. |
I have never actually heard Horse Latitudes.
|
Yeah, I noticed that.
I was like WTF When The Music's Over is the first song that they played? Hardly.
Haha yeah I thought that too when I saw WTMO first. I notice Light My Fire takes the place of both Alabama Song and Celebration of the Lizard. I am mad about that. I wanted to hear Celebration of the Lizard. edit- Horse Latitudes scares the hell out of me when I'm stoned. Even when I'm not stoned. |

If your talking bout the one I mailed; I messed up all the names some how and totally forgot to fix it because I'm not fond of that album. I think I listened to one or two songs on that album and decided not to put in on MP3 which means I don't mess with it at all. |

So since they aren't selling seats in view of the stage, many tickets will be available on Monday. |
So since they aren't selling seats in view of the stage, many tickets will be available on Monday.
Where'd you find out that there not selling tickets in view of the stage? |
You just said the only Cream tickets available were right behind the stage.
|
You just said the only Cream tickets available were right behind the stage.
Oh. I thought you had seen some link that the only ones going on sale were behind the stage. Right now, that's all that's avaliable, but my guess is that there were better seats avaliable earlier in the week, and more better seats will (hopefully) be avaliable on Monday. |
Oh, I see what you mean. If they sell all the tickets by Monday I'll kill somebody.
|
Oh, I see what you mean. If they sell all the tickets by Monday I'll kill somebody.
As will I. They couldn't do that though. |

The Doors weren't the greatest sounding band live, a lot of their live music is inconsistant and of fairly poor quality. I love watching their Europe 68 DVD though. |
Speaking of the Doors I picked up a biography of Ray Manzarek called "My Life With The Doors" but apparently the other members said he lies in it alot. (According to the Librarian at my school who told me when I was getting the book.)
|
Yeah, apparently John Densmore's is better. I'd still like to read the one you have though.
|
Supposedly my school library has "No-one gets out of here alive." I think I might wanna try to find that, I hear it's the best Doors biography.
Also, for Communications, I get to write a little about George Harrison! np: Pink Floyd - Hey You |

He just likes to exaggerate everything, he may have lied a little. I wouldn't mind reading Densmores. He's by far the least interesting member though, and he didn't have anything near as close of a relationship with Jim as Ray, or even Robbie did. Him and Jim didnt' really get along. I'd wanna hear Jims version. edit- Life, Death, Legend is the best Jim Morrison biography. It's most likely not the best all around Doors bio though because it mainly focuses on Jim. But it's definitely the best biography I've ever read. |
