Join a band and make up your own stuff, its much more fun.

spike9908 11-21-2006 09:58 PM

Damnit, I just bought Deadwing, and it only plays on DVD players. Why was it in with the CDs if you can't play it on a CD player

green242 11-21-2006 09:58 PM

-:Vincent:- 11-21-2006 10:03 PM

There's a term for that: sarcasm. Besides, I was only imitating the guy before me.

SparBZ 11-21-2006 10:05 PM

get a massage from the mall. $15 for 15 minutes. i actually got one today, along with DRUM! magazine.

spike9908 11-21-2006 10:07 PM

Yeah, I'd love it if someone would tell me if it is possible to play Deadwing on a CD player. You know, be productive rather than argue about nothing.

SparBZ 11-21-2006 10:11 PM

I believe it comes in cd form as well as dvd-audio, like in absentia.
In any event, play that in your dvd player and download the album off of bittorrent (chances are itll be in .flac, which is lossless).

ofDooM 11-21-2006 10:18 PM

I would love it if I had money...

Ok...goodnight....even though its 1:30 p.m. here.

Win A Rabbit 11-21-2006 11:45 PM

I hate having to think of things. There's a club in town that wants to donate to the youth centre here, but they don't want to just donate money. They're willing to donate a whole bunch of money, but they want to donate something "material". So of course, we have to come up with things we can do.

It has to be something attached to the building (preferably in the building, to save costs for adding to the building), which limits it alot.

One thing we came up with was a recording studio/general rehearsal space for bands. That'd be really cool to have a decent studio available to the public, I think it'd get alot of use. So now it's my job to find out everything I can about costs of a studio (they want 3 different models, from basic to huge) with mics, mixers, soundproofing, construction, etc. :(

-:Vincent:- 11-21-2006 11:48 PM

That's gonna be a lot of crap to do. Good luck. I wish they had places like that around here...my band would probably pay like $30 an hour to get proffesional sound.

NOT CHEAP. don't forget the cost of a competent crew...
NOT CHEAP. don't forget the cost of a competent crew...
There won't really be a crew, assuming that the plan actually goes through.

The main focus would be a soundproofed room with drums and amps set up, so bands can bring their guitars and rent the room out (for free) for x amount of time.

The studio is just a bonus idea, that most likely won't go through (due to the huge cost/space of it, plus the fact that we've got 5 other ideas that would get more use from the general public, not just kids in bands), and if it did, it'd be crewless (I'd be willing to help them, though I'm not too knowledgeable on the subject. But If it did go through, I'd spend the first month locked in there recording.). It's more of a "track your progress as a band, record a demo to get your band known" thing than a "pay big bucks to get a crystal-clear album recorded by professionals" thing.

The idea for a studio came up because the person who pitched the idea has a brother who works at a "shelter" type thing for kids on the street, with a studio for kids to rap/sing over tracks, along with graffiti lessons/canvases, etc. There's not many rappers here, which means a full studio, as opposed to a vocal booth and a mixer.

Hahaha. I like the ^_^ one.

EDIT: Mass music is pissing me off. Big time. I have had nothing but problems with them so far.

I order a cymbal, they don't have it and have to get it shipped in from Yamaha. I wait two weeks for it to arrive. I get it cracked.

I email them about the crack, a week goes by. They finally get back to me. They sent me the return shipping label, its completely wrong.

Im gonna talk with them tommorow about it.

-:Vincent:- 11-22-2006 02:02 AM

Sucks man^ thats happened to me a few times. I gotta order all my crap online.

Cocaberry 11-22-2006 02:04 AM

Hmm, I've never had any problems with MassMusic.

Worst thing that ever happened was when my Stage Ride got here, it was dirty.
What cymbal was it?

Futuro 11-22-2006 02:29 AM

13 inch Paiste Dark energy hat.

I had to re-buy a few cymbals because someone stole one of my bags a few months ago  People are pathetic.

Thats why I was using two cut down crashes for hats for a while.
Well theres about two, but their not that great. Kind of expensive too.
Ah that sucks.

Sync0pation 11-22-2006 02:32 AM

That sucks mayne.

It's 2:17, and I have a paper due tomorrow. I started at 12AM even though I had the entire evening to do it. Drums are so distracting, but in an awesomely good way.

Seafroggys 11-22-2006 02:54 AM

I( bought my Paiste 2002 18" crash from massmusic, and yes, they had to order it from Yamaha. It came in about two weeks in perfect, clean condition.

Corkofski 11-22-2006 03:06 AM

sup hold

Seafroggys 11-22-2006 03:14 AM
