To be completely honest about the hi-hats i got last night, i was a little disappointed when i played them next to my old ones because i didn't hear much of a difference. But when i played them today they were SOOO much better it was amazing. I couldn't stop playing on them. The snare stand is really sturdy, also, I just have to fine tune the angle of the snare. Also, my bass drum was resting on the rim and the legs weren't doing anything. I moved the bass drum up, but then my toms were angled really funnily and they hit my ride cymbal so i put it back down. I'm going to completely reposition my drums sometime soon.

And i'm so going to bring my practice pad up to my drums to jam on it.
July 19th? And how old are you?

My birthday pretty much rocked. Hung out with my friends who made longboards from scratch. Then we went to Guitar Center to get a practice pad and some sticks. Then we went cruising on the longboards until we went out to eat at BJ's. then we came back for cake and presents.
I got:
Vault Hi-hats
DW 5300 snare stand
Anatomy of a Drum Solo
Wallet
CD case
Practice Pad
Stewart Copeland signature sticks
2 Rubik's cubes

Pretty sweet. After presents we went cruising again.
Yup, I turned 17. For my birthday I broke up with my girlfriend and had a massive party at my house (because my parents left on my birthday...)

Didnt get anything for my birthday. Im pretty satisfied equipment wise.
Who ever heard of school starting August 9th =/
I start on the 16th. Earliest in Colorado. We get a shitload of snowdays though.

trysthedrummer 07-20-2006 12:54 PM

I've just recently got a Creative Zen vision:m. Really nice, at last I have thousands of songs in my pocket.

Janeway 07-20-2006 12:57 PM

How much storage and how much did you pay?

The Vision:M is the one I'll probably get if I've got enough money.
Now that I've figured out how to download/rip DVDs, I can see the value in a video playback mp3 player.

Edit: No. Why?

JBJ 07-20-2006 01:00 PM

just wondering. you're like the second person i've seen on mx who lives in el paso.

Janeway 07-20-2006 01:05 PM

I live in New York.

Last week I was located in Northern Ireland. A week before that I lived in Seville Spain.
Rotating locations.

JBJ 07-20-2006 01:07 PM

oh :'(

Janeway 07-20-2006 01:08 PM

Aw. I'm sorry.

I paid £189 here in the uk, which is about $250 Us or round about?. It's got 30 gigs, slightly thicker that the Video iPod, but the screen is absolutely brilliant.

To be able to put the software on you'll need xp, which is a bit stupid.

You can put tonnes of films on if you want, I've mostly got music videos, a load of pictures stored on, and about 7 gigs of music on so far. Steadily building up.

Anything else you want to know?

Edit: and the battery life is brilliant, that's if you charge it for the recommened 5 - 6 hours first off.

Janeway 07-20-2006 01:22 PM

A lot of the decent players all need XP, but I had ME when I was looking for one, so I never got one.

Is the battery removable?

trysthedrummer 07-20-2006 01:25 PM

Unfortunately not. It would be brilliant if it was.

Not to worry though. They probably don't do so it's not easy to buy a new one, you'll have to send it in to get it fixed or replaced which will cost a hell of a lot.

Janeway 07-20-2006 01:33 PM

That's crap.

One more.
Can you organize your music into folders?

trysthedrummer 07-20-2006 01:42 PM

Oh yeah you can. It's not easy as drag and drop, simply because of the capacity.

You can use the sync feature on media player to put everything on, which is much easier than using their own software.

Videos I'm not sure, I think every video just goes into one folder. I haven't had a lot of messing around yet because I only got it a week and a bit ago.

But music yes, when you rip a cd each track is tagged specifically with that band, so it automatically does it for you. Unless you want to mess around and put different songs into seperate folders then, I don't know..

Janeway 07-20-2006 01:47 PM

Ah. Thank you.

Corkofski 07-20-2006 04:04 PM

ok, my weekend gigs are potentially stupidly dangerous...

3 days of playing at the davies cup, between play.

for those of you that don't follow tennis, its England vs. Israel

for those of you who don't pay attention, the Lebanese are currently bombing the hell out of israel...

oh dear...

fishbulb 07-20-2006 05:06 PM

I set up my aux snare today and it's pretty cool. It's a stock CB which doesn't sound too bad if you crank the snares and hit it hard enough. My hands were starting to hurt since i've been playing pretty hard the past couple of days.

And my parents packed our digital camera away because they're vacationing to France tomorrow. Hopefully my dad will get it out for me.

Janeway 07-20-2006 05:37 PM

I think my sister is in Paris right now.

Or she's on the train on her way to Monaco.
I start on the 16th. Earliest in Colorado. We get a shitload of snowdays though.
You don't get many snow days in AZ.

And school ends before the flash floods.

Of which there were NONE this year.

I have no idea why in hell they start on the 9th here. Other than your school, I've never heard before like...the 25th. And even that's pushing it for high school...I have a college course this year but college doesn't start til the 21st =/

Josiah 07-20-2006 09:21 PM

Where in CO? I'm lookin to move there next summer possibly.

Sunshine 07-20-2006 09:26 PM

My parents are moving to CO next year as well, to retire.

Fruita/Grand Junction. My dad loves bikeriding..they're currently house-shopping.

milkmit 07-20-2006 09:31 PM

mmmmmm just got in before from seeing stanton moore & the band at summerstage in central park. good times. I just wish there weren't so many bloody children everywhere! they're not so bad, really... but I'd prefer not to have to deal with their desperate attempts to be cool, in the form of smoke clouds from their lit bidis cramping my style (,yo). ugh.

Janeway 07-20-2006 11:02 PM

I'm out of love with Stanton.

And in love with Eric Harris, that sly hipster.
Stupid ****ing saxiphone crap. I hate this kinda ****ing music. God damn white bushy apes and spear chuckers snappin their gay little fingers and tapping their faggot little shoes. I want to take that sax and toss it into a vat of molten steel along with it's owner. or maybe charge into their gay little night club blasting away with an AR-15 and kill everyone of those punkass happy jazzy ****sticks.

Oh jesus, this is even worse than the lst piece. This is what -passes for music these days? Buddah, I could go get a music contract. What catagory is this BS anyway? Shell blowing - bonewacking tree shaking jazz? I really don't want to hear about some annoying middleaged loser whining about his stupid stream of unconcious type lyric's. Next the will throw in some frogs croaking of chainsaws roaring.

Hmm, a bit calmer so far. no jungle bunnies running around banging on things. Is this a fast pace song for the Earth spirit club maybe? Thank God there aren't any lyrics. I find That lyrics often ruin good music. Well, this isn't so bad, kind of trancey. Quick too. was that a dog. oh goodie, I have space invaders now. Damnit, more random crap. Jesus now its ruined. stupid symbols or whatever they are called. Must be hard carrying THAT beat. OK now stop screwing with it.

Oh yip-ee. Enya wannobe, with a twist of ___ synthasizer in it. Now we are jammin dude. Ug I need some KMFDM. Is this the soundtrack to a little fantasy movie about a boy and his starship cruiser? Sounds like aerobics class dance to when they forget their CDs. hmm, for some reason I feel like flying through a city with the spice girls.

**Page End**

Ug. This is undescribable. I feel like I walking in a friggin cartoon for Gods sakes. Bloody bourito boys and theis little banjo barakas. What the **** is this! Screw you guys, I'm going to lunch, and listening to good ****ing music.

**Note: the next five lines are written in circles, each line is a different circle**

This is Gay
How stupid is this
His music is dumb
Shutup
Be quiet right now

I'm gonna spit a hell of a lot of buckshot out of my barrel at this pansy's face.

Black.
I cant see a God damn thing so what he hell am I gonna write about, how I can't see anything? My mind is black, sight is black, hearing is black, everything, so HA.
From his very own journal.

I cannot believe people worship him like some kind of intelligent martyr.
KMFDM. KMFDM is not art. It's barely music.
It's regurgitated disco, but a little less intelligent and aimed for chubby over priveledged poseurboy neonazi's whose parents won't let them buy a fucking Skinny Puppy album.

But I guess the little hypersensitive twat didn't have it in him to listen to anything that takes more than one listen to get the gist of, and is entirely open to personal interpretation.

I have a picture of him in my journal.=3

It's not spelled capitan, is it? I'm thinking of the 'El Capitan' march.

Alright, so I just got horribly bored, and these are some of my semi poetic ramblings, I thought they were pretty good...feedback?

The scene
Serene
Wind whispers through the trees
Cold night air
Crisp
Breathe in
The time has arrived.

Night falls
Like mother
Throwing a blanket across the sky
Tucking you in
Quickly
Say goodbye

A shriek
Piercing
The calm eve
Shatters like a rock
Through the window of the chapel

A soul
Leaving
Moving on
Connecting with the stream
Going home
Returning to the comforting arms
Of mother

Forever, the wind shall blow
Haunting the streets
With the everlasting melody
Forever, the wind shall blow
Pushing the leaves
To an unknown place
Where they will lay to rest
Amongst the rest

Seafroggys 07-21-2006 01:09 AM
