Interview, then Vampire Lestat, Queen of the Damned, Tale of the Body Thief, Memnoch the Devil, and then I dunno how it goes after that.
It's confusing because she wrote one set of books, and then kind of started writing "fill-ins" if you will and sticking those left and right.
Just dented my bass.

It slipped from my hand and hit a metal corner on my computer desk. This has happened once before on the same corner. This one is bigger and deeper than the other.

Whoops!
Just gives it more mojo.

Yeah, I didn't read anything but the 'core' books because everything else she does sucks.

My favorite damage is all the paint chips below the C string from my double thumbing and popping and stuff. At least those are there because of my playing, and not my clumsiness.

I don't understand how people get those.

I slap and pop the hell out of my bass and have no such marks.

I realized the other day how beat up my musician (the bass in the video) really is. Has a lot more paint chips in it than I noticed when I bought it, but I don't think that any of them are from me, as I am really careful with it. The clear coat on the neck is almost all warn off as well. It must have been a heavy player before I got it.

We must be some sort of super-breed of bass players, Phil.

Do you slap through the string? Or do you bounce? I find that I hit the body more when I slap through the string (which is all that I do now).

No, Phil's bass is an armored tank.

Fine, then I'm some sort of super breed of bass player.

And go post in my thread, Jody.
No, Phil's bass is an armored tank.
definitley not, it is made of hardwood, but itll take a dent just as bad as an ibanez

thelowsoundofbass 11-02-2006 09:49 PM
I slap through.
I worked the hitting the body out of my slapping because it was starting to hurt my fingers. I sometimes still do it when I get aggressive with slap.

Jody LeCompte 11-02-2006 09:49 PM

My Ibanez has falling apart. I still have a hole in the back where I dropped my capo from like...2 feet up. A literal hole...

I need to go hit up New Orleans and Baton Rouge in the next few weeks and go to all the bass shops.

Spaceman Spiff 11-02-2006 09:50 PM

I think the paint chips are there from my finger nails. Occasionally a nail will catch the bass the right way and make a little chip in it.

You hit the body when you slap?

That doesn't sound right at all.

Jody LeCompte 11-02-2006 09:54 PM

I wish I had an acoustic bass so I could do body thumps.

thelowsoundofbass 11-02-2006 09:59 PM
You hit the body when you slap?

It happened when I first switched to slapping through the string. It was a combination of holding my fingers wrong and my slapping motion. I would slap through the A string and my popping finger would slip down too far and hit the body (only when popping the G string). Now it slips nicely under the desired string.

Yes.

BenJammin 11-02-2006 10:07 PM

So let's discuss how I drained the entire blue part of my colour cartridge after only 7 album covers and labels. Fuck!

Understatement.

I've gotta find a more cost-effective way of doing this.

Colour cartridge = $35

7 albums = $35

I'll be in a perpetual state of not making money.

That's because he's modest as hell. I doubt there are many adult bassists who can tap like him, much less many kids his age. I think a little part of me dies every time I watch his version of the Maple Leaf Rag. There are better bassists, but I absolutely love how he plays.

Jody LeCompte 11-02-2006 10:11 PM

Your selling music to make money? :amaze: SELLOUT!

Seriously though, a printing shop will be cheaper in the long run.

Spaceman Spiff 11-02-2006 10:11 PM
