aye

i know how you feel. it was a good 3 months at least before i got my cabinet.
but i have yet to run them together :/
Yeah, it'll probably be 3 months till I can get a cab. I don't even know what brand to go with. I wonder if maybe I should just get a GK cab to match the head.

bass&cookies 10-13-2006 09:11 PM

i would really have liked to have gotten a gk cab, the ones i tried sounded really nice.

i ended up buying LEC's avatar 212. it seems to be pretty solid, but really heavy.

yay for driving! i finally got my license the other day.

BenJammin 10-13-2006 09:32 PM

I get my class 5 license next month. I definitely have to go down for a new picture, on account of the fact that my hair is 2 feet shorter now than it was then.

Aerodyne 10-13-2006 09:37 PM

I'm hungry. What should I eat? I've got ramen, turkey, cheese, triscuits. . . that's about it. :upset: I have a feeling it's going to be ramen with turkey and cheese triscuits.

So I heard the only all ages club around got closed down for trafficing cocaine and selling booze to someone underage. It's a shame, that's where all of the local punk bands played.

bass&cookies 10-13-2006 09:39 PM

hah. i was in canada for a bit when we were on vacation over the summer. was an interesting experience, it's really wierd the first time you see a sign saying speed limit:100

Haha, yeah. It's weird getting behind the wheel of an American car and having the speedometer read with the MPH on top and the KMPH on the bottom.

Where were you in Canada?

That sucks. We had something like that happen to our all ages club a couple of years ago. All of the punk bands sucked, but it was fun to go down and hang out with everybody and just mosh and have a good time.

It's always a shame when that stuff falls through.

Ahh. BC is a nice place. I've never been to Alberta (I'm on the east coast), except when flying through it.

HELLonWHEELS 10-13-2006 09:55 PM

I just saw DR now has Pink strings... and i need a new set. :)

Aerodyne 10-13-2006 10:00 PM

Oooh. That would be hot on a gloss black bass. Like mine. But I ordered my half wounds this week. :upset: Oh well, I don't really like coated strings anyway.

HELLonWHEELS 10-13-2006 10:04 PM

I love DR coated. I have red devils right now they don't really look red they more pink exept in a bright light.

BenJammin 10-13-2006 10:07 PM

Mmm.

P Bass.

Aerodyne 10-13-2006 10:09 PM

Por que? What bass is that?

HELLonWHEELS 10-13-2006 10:12 PM

It's actually a Squier, but you could really tell almost everything in it has been changed. I like the way it looks and sounds.

Aerodyne 10-13-2006 10:15 PM

I spy a badass bridge, Dimarzio split P Humbuckers, and a killswitch. I think.

HELLonWHEELS 10-13-2006 10:17 PM

And dunlop straplocks you can see. I changed one of the tuners becuase it was messed up and all the pots have been changed.

Aerodyne 10-13-2006 10:21 PM

Pretty sweet. I think I have missed out on a lot by not being able to mod my first bass, it was stolen. I do have plans for its replacement, though.
Pretty sweet. I think I have missed out on a lot by not being able to mod my first bass, it was stolen. I do have plans for its replacement, though.
What was your first?

HELLonWHEELS 10-13-2006 10:26 PM

I'm thinking of re-finishing the bass in a black and white finish. I was thinking of doing all black and then white where the arm rest is. Or i thought doing black and white like Vic's Ying Yang bass would look awsome i don't know if i could do that though.

Aerodyne 10-13-2006 10:26 PM

Oh, a Crate Electra. 'Tis a P-bass copy. After it was stolen, the school replaced it with an Ibanez GSR250, which I have defretted and sanded down. I haven't been home yet because of school, but over the holidays I plan on wrapping that up. Probably new pickups and a refinish.

BenJammin 10-13-2006 10:29 PM

Everybody seems to have started on a P-copy.

My first was a Peavey Milestone IV, which was a P bass.

Akira 10-13-2006 10:33 PM

I started on a 'Ray copy, because I am just that cool.
In fact, it is still my only bass.

Aerodyne 10-13-2006 10:34 PM

I have a friend who had a Milestone IV. He put in SD Quarter Pounders and got a diamond plate pickguard for it. He's also had it defretted by a local luthier. Pretty nice little bass.

BenJammin 10-13-2006 10:36 PM

Yeah. I can't believe I sold it and bought an Epiphone EB-3 instead. :upset: Worst bass-related purchase ever. It's stuff like that that is the reason I've spent, like, $6000 in gear over the past 3 years.

Aerodyne 10-13-2006 10:36 PM

Oh snap! We all joined in March '05. That wasn't really worthy of an "Oh snap", but it's definitely worth noting. That's four of us now. :thumb:

Aerodyne 10-13-2006 10:38 PM

I do like the EB-3 though. That and the Viola. It's kinda cool to think that the same instruments were going for just a few hundred dollars 30-40 years ago. Cool and sad. GAS would be a lot cheaper. :upset:

Yeah... how there used to just be "Jazz basses," none of that MIA, MIM, MIK, MIJ, etc.

/will own a vintage jazz someday

Aerodyne 10-13-2006 10:43 PM
Yeah... how there used to just be "Jazz basses," none of that MIA, MIM, MIK, MIJ, etc.

That's more like it. :thumb: I wish I knew exactly what makes vintage instruments worth so much more. There really can't be that much of a difference.

BenJammin 10-13-2006 10:47 PM

I really don't know. The trick is get one that has some belt rash on the back, or a hairline crack or something in the finish. That totally kills the resale value.

HELLonWHEELS 10-13-2006 10:59 PM

There are a lot of scratches on the back of my P that you can't see. The thing that annoys me most is that all the scractches are only on the top couple of clear coats so i get a scratched up look instead of a cool vintage look.

Aerodyne 10-13-2006 11:02 PM

Yeah, I love how beat up John Frusciante's Strat is. It doesn't get any hotter than that. :smash:

BenJammin 10-13-2006 11:03 PM
Yeah, I love how beat up John Frusciante's Strat is. It doesn't get any hotter than that. :smash:
/orgasm

Yeah. His sunburst '62? I'd kill a child for that guitar.

HELLonWHEELS 10-13-2006 11:04 PM

When i saw Weezer play live the bassist had the most scratched up basses i had ever seen. One of them was so scratched up that there was barely any paint left on it.

Aerodyne 10-13-2006 11:06 PM

Yeah, the one John had in the Jesus spread in Guitar World a few issues back. That is one sexy guitar. I'd like to know that guitar's story, it's probably very interesting. Who was it's first owner, what happened to it, to whom was it traded, that kind of stuff.
