Looks like Iceland are more importand then merry olde Englande....*sigh*
Ha. hmm might need a new bass soon and i have something like £700. Might get a new phone too. hmmm so much money and i dont know what to do with it. So what's up in the ashman world?
Ashman's life has been pretty great lately...

I'm moving out into my new Maiden pad, it's gonna 'kin sweet 'cos there is one of the best Venues (and pubs, pound a pint, need I say anymore?) in my city around the corner, so when my band kicks off we can gig there easily.

I've been listening to a lot of Cradle of Filth lately, I'm starting to hear bits of Maiden in a lot of their songs...weird.

Josh 02-01-2005 02:46 PM

i have a dislike of cradle of filth - no particular reason, their music just doesnt appeal to me. i'm getting more into black sabbath though.
also, i just borrowed dragonforce - sonic firestorm from a friend, its one fucking amazing album.

Dannyboy15 02-01-2005 02:50 PM
First yea i agree the maiden bassist needs to get rid of the plectrum. But sum 41 are sh*t. When they start taking maiden songs and doing covers of them i'll kill something.
I think you read that wrong. He meant cone from sum 41 needs to lose the pick. Steve HArris never EVER uses picks, just very low action and very bright flatwouds.

I wouldn't mind seeing sum 41 with maiden. The sums play metallica songs better than metallica does.

Fucking hell, what an album. Guess who was listening to it a year before it came out?.....yer, my uncles good mates with Adrian :smoke:

That's what I wanted to say, thanks. I'd wager that Sum 41 is the best -nay- the ONLY good band of their genre. Really!

Vipers-Dream 02-01-2005 06:55 PM

Iron Maiden are the only good band of the eighties..... except genesis. Iron Maiden was unlike every other band from their time period, they were alot more 70's ish than everyone else.

The Clansman...secrets 02-01-2005 11:48 PM

Iron Maiden wasn't the ONLY good band of the 80s. I mean, you ever heard of G3? Or howzabout Yngwie Malmsteen. Iron Maiden was the BESTEST band of the 80s. Now yer gettin' something. Well, I just purchased Fear of the Dark. I can see why it debuted at Number One. The entire album is friggin' amazing...*drool*

YDload 02-01-2005 11:50 PM

ATTENTION!

There is a thread in the Pit about the 2005 Ozzfest lineup, and Maiden apparently on the main stage. Don't listen to it! There are no links to any official stories in the thread, so it's probably still a bunch of crap.

Just don't go wandering into the Pit and getting your hopes up, is all I'm saying.

Lord Abortion 02-02-2005 03:35 AM

wow ... slow today
anyhoo... Megadeth is keeping most of my music life concentrated on them because of the gig tomorrow and maiden has kinda taken a back seat for a while
but at least they get to make wanker signs at elderly drivers and moon their arses out of the window...

|I think there is a sublimable message in one of their songs. I think its the lord's prayer?

"the campaign for the better use of the Enlish language"
that cradle are involved in
and I meant besides maiden in literary terms
see the rime and to tame a land

Lord Abortion 02-02-2005 06:08 AM

I wasn't angry....

icebase 02-02-2005 06:09 AM

atremore 02-02-2005 06:18 AM

To link Cradle Of Filth to Iron Maiden...

Hmm... they are both very melodic bands, and both use very "researched" (for want of a better term) lyrics... both are pretty cheesy too! Hahahahaha... ha.

Thunder Fingers 02-02-2005 06:46 AM

english guys... stop yer cryin'!

Wow, this thread is really long. I never knew there were so many Maiden fans out there! When I first started playing guitar, I built all of my metal chops from maiden. I remember getting piece of mind when it first came out and was completly blown away by the riffing on it. I had never heard anything so heavy in my life! I quickly picked up beast, killers, iron maiden and maiden japan. At one point, I could throw on any of those records (yes, I still have them on vinyl) and jam with any of the songs. By the time 7th son came out, I had almost everything they had ever done (singles, live stuff, demos, bootlegs, picture discs)....including some stuff only released in england. I became a little disenfranchised on no prayer and unfortunately lost interest in anything new of theirs because of it. So I guess I'm just a classic maiden fan. I remember spending hours practicing trills just trying to match dave murrays lead work. Murray/Smith will always be the greatest metal duo for me! :thumb:

Josh 02-02-2005 08:53 AM

ok, according to www.reading-festival.org.uk maiden are headlining there this year...

Welcome; it's nice to have an old-school Maiden fan on board. Hopefully you can help us out if we ever have tough questions about Maiden, even if your user name is "Redneck Willie" spelled backwards.
