pessoa - summer of 2011 ep (true midwest emo)

john flannelly - FABLES (synth loops, oscillators and other craziness)

the constants - no organ (rocknroll with balls out)

thee open sex - on every street corner (recently found this oop cass from the band themselves when i saw them play. interesting mix of ambient and percussive moments and guitar driven crescendos that tread the line between mesmerizing ritualistic loops and post rock sharpness)

the gentlemans butcher - persistent static in the key of sleep (25 min ambient piece that moves realllllllllllllyyyyyy slowly. designed as a sleep aid, but its good for both chilling and snoozing)

Semilanceata - En wallmoburen myhr, där döön grödha mellom bitter root ok frucht
(swedish band that sounds medieval as hell. dark dirgey drums and dissonant melodies twanged from strings of a vaguely guitar-like instrument. atmospheric ambience, sometimes droning, sometimes dynamic. the overall atmosphere is simultaneously unsettling and mesmerizing. other instruments enter the swirl as the album progresses. de-tuned piano strikes, cellos that have a deep and biting edge, some kind of inter-dimensional harpsichord, clanging on unknown metalic objects, warbled sounds that sometimes sound like vocals, other times sound like a twisted maelstrom of noise exhaled from some unfathomable being. highly, highly recommended.)

good shit kitsch, gonna check a few of those out. also you should check out chromatics - kill for love, it has a certain moody, super dark minimalism and sexiness that i think you'd dig when you're not listening to kvlt stuff and just need to zone out and do some coke or something whatever i'm gone

yeah man i'll check it out, i love moody dark minimalism. found this band german army - body linguist, that is pretty much a modern day throbbing gristle with less vocals and more percussion.

all of those bands except the last one in that post are local indiana bands man. youre from ft. wayne right? im in bloomington and its a fucking sweet scene.

my three favorite local labels. bluesanct is kind of based in indy too, michael goes back and forth so much.

there are other labels, the most popular is plan-it-x and i dont have anything against those dudes but these are more my taste.

yeah i'm from around fort wayne, had no idea about these labels in bloomington though besides major ones like jagjaguwar and shit. (probs bc i live in west lafayette now, people here don't really have much to do with people in bloomington) seems pretty kvlt though. and chromatics is minimalist in a drive soundtrack sense not really in an ancient methods/cut hands sense but i still think you'd dig it

you going to purdue? yeah its a big rivalry. you should come down for a show sometime. theres live music any given day of the week at multiple venues. magnetic south is one of the best places to see a show i think. its a house that doubles as a label headquarters and recording studio and they play shows in the basement. theres usually about 4 or 5 joints being passed around during the performances.

im trying to find a link for this that downloads. the only one i found that worked was from deposit files and as soon as i downloaded it it went 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 hours left.

this was nice to just lose yourself in. album is really long though, a couple of tracks in the middle almost ruined the experience. like they nearly made me forget i was enjoying the first half hour or so. picked up again towards the end though.

Yeah I listened to the new album when it was streaming and wasn't sure what to think. Might go see them live next month though.
