Deep Purple maybe

I haven't listened to much of their stuff but I hear they were the origin of that kind of music.

Holy Diver is an awesome song btw :)

Lemuria 06-17-2006 07:37 PM

man thats hard mmmmm....... almost all of my orchestra bands are power metal

blueyxd 06-17-2006 11:01 PM
Ok, I'm looking for a band that uses a lot of orchestration in their songs. I don't want a heavy metal band (at least not a speed metal band or a band with growling vocals), but more of a hard rock outfit. Kinda thinking along the lines of songs like Rainbow's "Stargazer" or Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir".

Suggestions?
The Red Paintings, they have a full time cellist and violinist.

I recently dowmloaded some Katatonia and really liked it. Can anyone reccomend me some other songs or albums by them?

Riva 06-18-2006 03:30 AM

It'd probably help if you said the songs that you have already.

I have no clue what you've heard but these are some of their best albums:
Brave Murder Day
Viva Emptiness
Tonight's Decision

You can't go wrong with Katatonia though.

The Cynic 06-18-2006 12:00 PM

My bad. I downloaded July, I am nothing, Saw you Drown, Help Me Disappear and Omerta.

joe_fresh 06-19-2006 03:15 AM

Anyone care to recommend some immolation and some vader?

Bartender 06-19-2006 03:26 AM

I only really know early Immolation (Dawn of Possession/Here In After) so far, so I'll recommend Dawn of Possession. I think "Those Left Behind" was the first song of theirs I heard.

Daven 06-19-2006 08:53 AM

Can someone recommend me an album by Municipal Waste? Ive heard very good things about them.

Apocalyptic Raids 06-19-2006 09:04 AM

Hazardous Mutation

Thanks, i'll look for it.

Apocalyptic Raids 06-19-2006 10:12 AM

It's been in the Daily Upload a number of times, Daven. You might want to search your email. If you're lucky a link could still be active.
Litany full on slays.
So that's their best? I've only heard The Art Of War, and was actually wondering which album is best.

Edit: Just found two albums, thanks.

Apocalyptic Raids 06-19-2006 10:17 AM

Yeah the link for Waste 'Em All is still active. It's alot rawer than Hazardous Mutation, though.

I asked this before kind of, but I couldn't find the posts. I need stuff that sounds similiar to Electric Wizard/Black Sabbath/other similiar sludge or stoner metal.

Meatplow 06-21-2006 07:34 AM

Recommend a song, any song. :)

joe_fresh 06-21-2006 11:17 AM

Can anyone recommend any bands that could possibly be described as progressive/technical sludge? Im thinking along the lines of blessing the hogs, mastadon, keelhaul.
