I broke my G string whilst fingering A Minor. Good old guitarist jokes. |
/is a guitarist and gets sick of that joke quickly
I think it's the nut on the tuning pegs, shadows. I had the same deal with my bass a few weeks ago. Tightened it up and the problem was solved.
Thanks a lot, I'll check that now. I may be back with questions though, because all I can do is feel around with this stuff. :p |
Saddle spurs.
Sorry, but whats that ? |
Shadows fallen what kind of guitar do you have?
|
Sorry but what ?
I think it's when the saddle gets sharp and snaps your string. Something liek that. |

Jackson DKMG Alright, so nut on the tuning pegs... |

Ah okay thanks. But it wasnt the saddle, it was the brigde itself. Its fixed now but it drove me crazy. |
Just feel around on the pegs, shadows. If something feels loose, theres a good chance it's rattling while you're playing. Twist it until it stays.
|
I'm off for now
Goodnight all  |
G'night.

My string don't get dull. After maybe a month, they start to make this pulsing sound when I hit the high strings, like a steady clicking. Is this what "going dull" means?

You know how when you first get strings they sound really alive and metallic? And sooner or later ( depending on gauge of string) it goes "dead" i dosnt sound fresh anymore. It sounds dull. |
Actually that doesn't ever happen to me. Unless you mean on a clean channel, which I almost never use.

And sooner or later ( depending on gauge of string) it goes "dead" i dosnt sound fresh anymore. It sounds dull.
That's my problem. When I change to a brand-new set of strings, the D string will go dead after one day of playing. :( I tightened the nut and I heard something pop/crack. ****. It all looks and sounds just fine, so I'm just setting it back up to normal hoping nothing's wrong. I cleaned out under the nut too, hopefully that will help some. I'm afraid I may have to take out the string and check out the bridge.
Actually that doesn't ever happen to me. i could make love to my flat wound strings. They don't tear up my hands and it always gives my bass a happy sound. mmmmmmm i love flat wound strings

Ya, someone I know has both flat and round and IMO Flat>Round |
what's poppin'?

Wow, that sounds very one-dimensional. Is that all you play is metal?
When I practice, yes. Obviously I'll play clean parts when playing whole songs, but I rarely play whole songs without a band (and I don't have a band at the moment). Plus, I don't really notice my strings ever sounding "dead" on a clean channel. |

I'll have to try those. I've cut open my hand from playing too much before. Not pleasent. |
I'm writing cards full of festive cheer and saw an awful "play"
Yourself? |

Distortion hides dull strings pretty well. I play a lot of clean stuff as well as distorted, so I notice. I can also tell because the strings will get a harder feel when they go dull and they sound very muffled when you play without an amp. I wish I was in a band. :( |
what's poppin'?
Playing the Anasthesia bass solo. It's good to relieve stress (or not, depending on my mood). It also sounds nice :) |
I must get really weird strings or something. I don't have any of those problems, only that weird pulsing sound I was talking about. If anything my strings get looser-feeling over time.. how long do you keep a pair of strings for?
