I just listened to the White Album for the first time. I've listened to all their catalogue up to this point, and only Let it Be and Abbey Road remain.
WOW!! The tracks are exceptional, especially on the first disk. While My Guitar Gently Weeps brought me to tears... this is perhaps the best song ever written. This definately puts Sgt. Pepper to shame.
Man, wait until Abbey Road. It's interesting to see first reactions to Beatles music. |

I've usually loved every Beatles cd the first time I've heard it. The only one of theirs that I didn't love right away was Revolver. Well I still loved it but I didn't think it was as good as Rubber Soul. I think it would be safe to say that Revolver's grown on me. Now it's one of my favorite cds ever. |
Good Day, sunshine
That's a Beatles song off of Revolver :). But the setlist looks great, I cannot wait. |
A strange song im looking forward to see him play is "I will". The 2nd to last song on TWA disc 1. I have always loved this song. So quiet, so peaceful. And at only 1:46 long, I always find myself putting it on repeat and listening to it 5 or 6 times. I've always liked how Paul decided not to use a bass for the song because it was too loud, and instead used his voice.
As For The white album, I love it. It is by far my favorite Beatles Album. Tons of critics complain about it being 2 albums, therfore being too long. It is my dream in life to find each one of these people and slap them with such a large force that it kills them. The fact that the album is 2 discs adds to its greatness. There is so much information, so much art, that it is impossible to find something that you dont like. I will admit however, there are some songs that i skip over (Wild Honey Pie, Revolution 9) but still, you have to look at the big picture. There are so many classics. Thats it for me Listen, learn. |
I love The White Album, too. I think I know why I do- after their full blown psychadellia of SPLHCB and MMT, they kind of went back to their rock and roll style of music, but at this point they were much more musically comptent. And there was still a tint of experimental studio stuff.

Same, Revovler took some time to adjust to and I still wouldn't call it a great album, but it does have some great songs. The only other album I could think of that I didn't quite enjoy was With the Beatles, their second UK LP. With all their stuff its usually icky the first listen, its the 2-3rd you really begin to like it. The only exceptions to this were A Hard Day's Night and Sgt. Pepper's. But damn, I really dig the White Album... I was kinda afraid it would be one of those half-*** pot albums. Great, great, music. And yes, I've heard a lot about Abbey Road so I'm definately looking forward to it in like 2 months. |
We covered A Hard Day's Night today in band practice.
|
Last night, my neighbor had a party, and she had this screamo band playing, and after their crappy guitar playing/whiny screaming act, they butchered some Beatles songs :(
|
You should get Abbey Road, the Beatles' best AND the best of all time.
|
Abbey Road is quite possibly my favorite album of all time.
|
Im a left handed bassist like Paul and did u know that when u play revolution number 9 backwards "number 9" presumably sounds like "turn me on dead man" and at the end of Im So Tired u hear john saying "Paul is a dead man miss him miss him" (if played backwards.
|
Welcome to the forums.
Yes, we know about the backwards stuff. At least, I'm assuming everyone else knows as well. Go left handedness! I'm a leftie too, but I play right handed. |
yeah i used be real into all the "Paul is Dead" stuff, even though its not true. you dont hear anyone talk about magical mystery tour much anymore do u?
|
No, it doesn't get talked about much around here. I think it's a great album, and I love every song on it. I'm not crazy about "The Fool On The Hill", but every other song is awesome.
|
Magical Mystery Tour is awesome. What's wrong with The Fool On The Hill? I like that song a lot.
|
Actually MMT is mentioned quite a bit. Every other day someone's like "OMG MMT is like never mentioned, its truly underrated" and then everyone else agrees, its really funny
But yeah I agree I love MMT, Fool on the Hill, Strawberry Fields, Baby Your A Rich Man, Flying, all killer songs. |
Does anyone other than myself have MMT on vinyl?
|

I'm not saying it's bad, it's just the one that I don't mind skipping over sometimes. |
Yeah alright.
And no, I don't have MMT on vinyl, I wish I did though. Yay, 3000th post :) |
Well it's got this story book inside with drawing and photos and it tells a story about a Magical Mystery Tour with the Beatles and a bunch of other people. It's actually really funny. A bit retarded, but funny.
|
yeah i have a friend who has a copy of the original vinyl. Has the original storybook in it and everything. Im going to kill him in his sleep.
|
Beh fool on the hill is so boring... the album itself is both fantastic and dead boring. I guess I've never been a "Yesturday" guy either, so its natural I dislike FOTH.
Rumor has it that if you stand upside down and listen to Strawberry Fields backwards you get John telling you to dial "666". And when u dial it, there is a chance a dark operator might pick up and say "It's true". |

My friend's mom had it, and she dies last January, so my friend gave me all of her Beatles Albums. My favorite is the original White Album poster, I love it I haven't seen the friend that gave it to me in such a long time, I wonder how she's doing |

One of my friends has MMT on vinyl, and he doesn't like music that much. So I wanted to buy it from him, but then the needle on my record player broke, so I'm gonna wait till I get a new needle.
How can you "stand upside down"?
I dunno, I just made that up. Its quite silly people are so superstitious and believe in hidden messages.
You should contact her. Relmar, I believe you're the only person I've ever met who liked The Beatles and didn't like Yesterday.
I'm just a sucker for their faster, rock n' roll side. And its official, the White Album has just replaced A Hard Day's Night as my all time faviourate album. What formula are these guys using! |
The Beatles are truly incredible. I need to go listen to them right now.
/turns on Help! |
