Feel free to use it.
I deeply appreciate the offer even if I probably won't use it. However if I were to make myself a W/IFS shirt, I'd probably use that stencil.

dropkickstreetpunk2 12-27-2005 09:43 PM

I was skeptical on making a jacket anyways. I don't care at all how it looks, it's just a jacket. I wasn't gonna spend a lot of time on it.

Brain Toad 12-27-2005 09:46 PM
I enjoy on improving on my DIY skills such as stenciling and sewing. I don't think I could ever bring myself to paint on a leather jacket, though. They're very expensive, and then you can't sell it. Besides, my leather jacket is actually still technically my mom's, so it's not up to me to ruin it.
That's exactly why I'm not getting a leather to patch and paint on, I don't trust my skills. I'll stick to denim and fabric.

I just got a Dickies jacket for Christmas, but I'm not going to put patches or anything on it because it looks too nice, but I may put a couple buttons.

I got a hot topic jacket for christmas from my aunt. Doesn't really matter that it's from hot topic, I'm going to wear it. However, I'm not going to patch it all up, either. I have one jacket that the patches are dedicated to, and after that I pretty much make shirts or patches by reqest/payment from friends.

I have a button maker, but haven't used it in quite a while. I should pull that out sometime.

Shtein 12-27-2005 09:54 PM

This is my first stenciled t-shirt its not that great(its very blotchy)...
http://img470.imageshack.us/img470/121/blackflagt3mg.jpg

Then this is a vest that im planing on designing, but I have no good ideas... suggestions please...(Its more orange than red because I had to use the flash)

I'm not ashamed of owning stuff from Hot Topic, because they do have decent stuff, which I usually buy with gift cards.

I need to find me a button maker sometime.

It's like a giant graph paper.

Shtein 12-27-2005 10:10 PM

Any ideas on what I could use on it? (paint, patches, studs...)

I'd probably limit it to patches and buttons on a vest like that.

holy_roller99 12-28-2005 02:18 AM

i have an old army jacket that i am patching up. i currently have a NOFX patch and a DKM patch but am planning on putting on some more makeshift stuff.

My next stencil I'm working on:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v294/asdf23/gogol.jpg

so far so good.

RudeBoyStompin 12-28-2005 01:39 PM

You should put the Terricloth stencil on the back of your WI/FS shirt.

skinnedmonkey 12-28-2005 02:05 PM

I made a shirt recently, using spray paint. And no matter what I do it wont stop reeking of spraypaint, I don't minda lil smell, but it is REALLY bad. I was wondering if there was a way to permenantly get the smell out?

How much spray did you use? What you should do is spray it really lightly, then wait half an hour til it dries (or however long it takes psray paint to dry), then another light layer, and that should be enough.

How do you cut out stencils?

Skape_Goat 12-28-2005 10:03 PM
How do you cut out stencils?
Use either a razor or an exacto knife. Theres other things you could use, probably like a really sharp knife, but a razor of some sorts is really the easiest to use.

Brain Toad 12-28-2005 10:11 PM

Xacto knives are wonderful, just make sure it's sharp.

holy_roller99 12-29-2005 01:04 AM
Xacto knives are wonderful, just make sure it's sharp.
agreed.

Lukeh 12-29-2005 04:39 AM

Argh, so far all I've used to cut out stencils is a pair of nail scissors as they're the sharpest things in the house, besides all the giant kitchen knives... There's nowhere around me that sells Xacto knives.
I really wouldn't recommend (sp?) using nail scissors at all, they're pretty accurate but it takes hours to cut out big stencils :upset:

Here's the result from my most recent stenciling
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v294/asdf23/gogolbordello.jpg

It's just a practice, so it's a bit messy. I put on too much paint, but next time I'll know better.

It came out pretty well though.
..so today i found my leather vest thing, from about 2 years ago (when i was going through a faze in which i thought i was pUnK RaWk)..anyway, i do realize that most of the bands on my jacket suck, but overall i thought i did a pretty good job, here are some bad photos i took of it. and is there a place i can sell this jacket?

You can sell it in the "Used vests, jackets" section.

That came out pretty good, maybe if you wash for awhile it might take some excess paint off.

You don't have any craft or hobby shops around you? Most of those places sell them. I don't much about England and it's shops though.

sketchyjoe 12-29-2005 03:05 PM

In England I think they're called Stanley Knives. You can get them from any DIY shop like B&Q or Homebase.
