dredg are amazing man. Currently one of my favourite bands.

The Flabbit Rides High 08-31-2005 12:07 PM

They have a way with texturising their sound. Its sounds so...beautifull and clean...

I have Catch Without Arms album.

Mr Benners 08-31-2005 01:27 PM

So.... after having listened to Ghost Reveries at least 6 times now, I can safely say WOW THIS ALBUM IS GREAT!

The first few listens I thought, yeah this is good, but I wasn't entirely convinced. However, partway through my third listen something just clicked. Everything is just so right, and this album also seems very progressive.

Akerfeldt's voice, both clean and growled, is superb on this album.

Whether this stands up to Blackwater Park (my personal favourite) only time will tell, but it definitely has a chance.

The Flabbit Rides High 08-31-2005 02:07 PM
Yeah, I'll upload that fo' sure. A bit later probably as the EP's on my mp3 player, and that's somewhere around my house, but I'll upload it ITT. Dredg aren't emo though....I'd call them alt rock with elements of prog thrown in, but they sure ain't emo. :p
What I meant was they they sounded emo-tional!

repcak 08-31-2005 03:00 PM
It's true. It is a bit different than their odler stuff though. There is the standard CD cover booklet with the lyrics and such printed, but that's it.
i don't need more; that's all what should be inside! great. i think i'm gonna buy it, cause i can't download it 1# no kazaa, emule, etc. 2# at home limited download (500mb) 3# the port to download files is blocked :upset:

you're talking about Dredg now, hm? i have to check them out too,... someday, when i will have more time. :thumb:

Iron Man 08-31-2005 03:05 PM

I puchased t3h Ghost Reveries like an hour ago. Just finishing my first time through it, it's great stuff but like all the others I have to give it time to click.

It was on the endcaps and on sale for less than $15, so I guess Roadrunner does some good.

Deth 08-31-2005 03:08 PM

I got it for $12, so my bargain beats your bargain.

Iron Man 08-31-2005 03:11 PM
I got it for $12, so my bargain beats your bargain.
It's the only CD store around my place with a decent selection of metal. Most CDs I buy from the place are $18 (wallet rape), so $14-something is a nice deal for me.

Darkness 08-31-2005 03:13 PM

I got mine for $4.95 (Canadain). How? I got one of those stamp guards and got 10 bucks off. :D

Wow, probably would have been $4 flat US, I woulda killed for that deal...although these guys are definitely worth my moneys

The Flabbit Rides High 08-31-2005 03:20 PM

Still Life, because I think its more upbeat.

Also, compare Godhead to TBOTH. Very similar.

Deth 08-31-2005 03:20 PM

I would say it's like a cross between Still Life and BWP, though some parts and songs are so outside the scope of normal Opeth, you really can't compare them.

It has the album feel of Still Life, yet the heaviness of the riffs of BWP.

Iron Man 08-31-2005 03:20 PM
Ah, I thought it was a particularly bad definition of emo, but I decided to be nice. Is that Dredg upload the Orph EP, as if it is I can cancel the upload I've got going now...no matter how much you guys bought Ghost Reveries for, it's guaranteed to be a better deal than the UK. I buy most of my CDs second hand off amazon, and they still cost about $10 or $12 on average. The prices in the stores here are just completely out of control. Just out of interest, what Opeth album do you guys think it sounds most like so far?
I hear some stuff on it that's right out of SL or BWP, but a lot of it sounds different than anything else they've done, in my opinion.

Edit: Creeping, we said almost the same thing at almost the same time :amaze:

The Flabbit Rides High 08-31-2005 03:27 PM

I don't think BTW had much influence in this album.

I do however believe MAYH had some say. There are parts in GoP and TBOTH that are straight out of When and April Ethereal.

Does anyone agree?

I'm going to need a little more time with that, but I have seen a few.

Deth 08-31-2005 03:30 PM

I guess the acoustic parts are kind of like MAYH, but I'm not to sure about the heavy stuff.

EDIT: Nice User-title Iron Man.

The Flabbit Rides High 08-31-2005 03:31 PM

Round about 2:20 in TBOTH, it sounds almost identical to the verse part in When.

Check it out!

Rothmans 08-31-2005 03:32 PM

I cant wait to get ghost reveries I couldnt find anywhere to download it so instead I am gonna buy it.

I have the rest of opeth albums might aswell complete my collection.

Darkness 08-31-2005 03:38 PM

This cd is more like older Opeth I think... Still Life, MAYH.
