Guys what do you think of this drumhead setup? This was recommended by someone in my local drumshop:

For my 10" and 12" rack toms - aquarian response II over classic clear
For my 13" and 16" floor toms - aquarian performance II over classic clear

maniac0796 11-21-2006 01:04 PM

sweet, i just found a tama artwood maple snare drum for a £1 on ebay, but it's got a reserve.

I hate it when people put reserves, i can't see if it's in my pricerange....

And is it me, or does this:

Look familier? IE, a member here as got that exact one with those exact pictures?

Ive found to never believe what my music store tells/offers me. They will sell items that arent selling well and I think thats what they are doing to you. Your better off getting Coated Ambs or G1's.

Talos 11-21-2006 01:59 PM

Evening all. I have a problem and a question. My question is do Sabian make Pearl cymbals? I was looking on the net and came across http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PEARL-PCP-304-BRASS-3-PIECE-CYMBAL-PACK-MADE-BY-SABIAN_W0QQitemZ140053557429QQihZ004QQcategoryZ10174QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I cant see that theyd lie but it seems a bit strange.

The problem is I have a gig at a really good venue and its gonna be totally amazing, really cheap drinks and a LOT of fans. But, its the night before my Kung Fu grading. If I miss it then I cant get my next sash until three months have passed, my instructor - Alan Neeld, says that no matter what the excuse if you dont come on the day you dont get a grading.

So what do I do, stay totally sober and go to the grading?
Get hammered and go to the grading?
Get totally smashed off your head and forget the grading?

Yeah so?

FL3P 11-21-2006 02:01 PM

I think you should obviously stay sober and try and do your best at both. Not sure why this is really in question.

Dave*Grohl 11-21-2006 02:11 PM

Get smashed and go to your grading anyway.

Talos 11-21-2006 02:11 PM

I can pass the grading incredibly easily, I was injured for the last grading so ive been going for my Purple sash for over 9 months now so I know what to do.

trysthedrummer 11-21-2006 02:19 PM

Yeah I think so, people have been on about this. The same goes with stock head for beginner sets, they are just 1ply clear remo, nout fancy.

They might be zildjian ^, I dont really know

maniac0796 11-21-2006 03:08 PM

Did you know Zildjian are owned by Yamaha...

FL3P 11-21-2006 03:13 PM

I wouldn't be so sure about that but if you have proof........

I found this interesting though.

Products discontinued in 2005 and 2006

* 18" Oriental Crash of Doom
* FX Burma Bell
* FX Cowbells
* 22" K Heavy Ride
* 19" K Medium Thin Crash
* 15" K Hi-Hats
* 13" A Custom Projection Hi-Hats
* 13", 15" Z Custom Mastersound Hi-Hats
* 20"/22" A Deep Ride

Panopticon 11-21-2006 03:17 PM

Thats why i <3 Sabian...

They never discontinue a product...ever.

If you want a product...you can do to your music store and order it in at the regular price...

Just because it's not on the price list, it doesnt mean it's not available.

Every cymbals they have ever mass produced is still available.

FL3P 11-21-2006 03:21 PM

Sometimes companies introduce new cymbals that are very similar to older models and it might make sense but it's still sad to see certain models go. It also explains why I had such a hard time finding a 19" K medium thin before I settled on the 19" Hybrid and why I didn't see the 18" crash of doom on the site. I'm sure these items can still be found for a while.

Panopticon 11-21-2006 03:22 PM

They probably will be sold till all stock is out...no more will be made...

but with a product from sabian, if you've seen it once, you can buy it new.

FL3P 11-21-2006 03:25 PM

I don't think I'll be switching to Sabian but they do have a lot of options which is nice.

maniac0796 11-21-2006 03:25 PM
I wouldn't be so sure about that but if you have proof........
Well, every Zildjian advert I've seen has had:

Yamaha
www.yamaha-music.co.uk
Yamaha-Kemble Music (UK) Ltd. Sherbourne Drive, Tillbrook, Milton Keynes MK78BL/ Tel 01908 366700

Maybe Yamaha just distribute them in the UK

FL3P 11-21-2006 03:26 PM

I think they do just distribute them.

Janeway 11-21-2006 03:27 PM

One more freakin' day. =/

maniac0796 11-21-2006 03:28 PM

Hmm. It'd be interesting if they did own them

Janeway 11-21-2006 03:38 PM

I can't wait for Thanksgiving. =/

It's like, my favorite holiday. We get to gorge on my favourite foods, and they always have the best TV on all day.

ludvista29 11-21-2006 03:39 PM

Holy Crap, my school just had a bomb threat! I'm home but Holy Crap...wow...

Talos 11-21-2006 03:40 PM

Who cares about TV? Its always really s-hit nothing ever lives up to what its supposed to and you end up wasting a number of hours by watching crap. Hours where you could be drumming!

maniac0796 11-21-2006 03:45 PM

Right, this is gonna sound stupid and i'm gonna get alot of flaming. I keep saying loads of drummers playing with what i though was wrong technique, but i keep seeing them, so now i'm pondering, is it my technique that's faulty. My teacher has always said that it was good, but i dunno, here's a video i just did hitting a pad:

http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y215/fbb_maniac/?action=view&current=PB1800351.flv

[EDIT:]It is now :(

Janeway 11-21-2006 03:50 PM

A picture of your desktop?

I don't know why I don't practice drums.

I play saxophone every day. I practice 80 minutes a day at school, plus an hour of band, and probably every other day I come home and practice an hour to an hour and a half.
And, like, I enjoy it.

But drums...
I don't know. =/
Holy Crap, my school just had a bomb threat! I'm home but Holy Crap...wow...
My school had bomb threats daily last year for a few weeks.
Bomb threats are a surefire way to know there is no bomb at all. I'm more scared of bombs when there's no threat.

Corkofski 11-21-2006 03:53 PM

looks fine to me...

Dave*Grohl 11-21-2006 03:57 PM

Usa is ****ed up

Corkofski 11-21-2006 04:20 PM

agreed dave.

i saw some of your countrymen last night (CoB)

trysthedrummer 11-21-2006 04:47 PM

It'l happen all over. People at college have said in the past people have threatened they would blow the college up, and it was rigged up.
