woo!!

im at my mums school, helping her. she told me to go chuck some stuff in the DT cupboard, so i went and did that. at the back, i saw a kinda familiar shape of a round piece of metal, and went over and pulled it out

imagine my suprise when i found a UFiP 18" crash!!

i went and asked, and noone knows anything about it, so i'm keeping it!

free cymbals ftw!!

EDIT: i have no idea on model, it looks old, feels unusually curved, and has a red logo on top, 18" crash, but on the back has "solid ride" in black??

help on ID, photos when i get home on weds
I want a Dobro. Is it a squareneck?
I don't know exactly what that means, but the back of the neck is rounded. So no?

LiquidTensionTheatre 07-18-2006 10:43 AM
If you are using rimshots for backbeats (you should be shouldn't you?) then yes. The stick should be wearing from the middle area out..

If you aren't playing that many rimshots, the stick will most likely break from the shoulder down in some sort of split.
I'm don't rimshot ALL my backbeats, sometimes it just doesn't feel right. I suppose if I used them all the time, then my sticks would break from the middle.

Hmm Kill Bill. I've only seen one of them. I think the first one. The one which ends with some chinese lady having part of her head cut off or something similar?

PandaDrummer 07-18-2006 10:54 AM

yesterday it was 111 degrees with the humidity.

LiquidTensionTheatre 07-18-2006 10:56 AM

It's rediculously hot here in Wales. I'm working all this week, if we didn't have air con I would kill and eat all my fellow staff members...

fishbulb 07-18-2006 10:57 AM

I know, i had to help my brother move to his new house in san luis obispo, CA. I drove for 3 hours to get there. My dad thought i needed the freeway experience before i got my license.

LiquidTensionTheatre 07-18-2006 11:18 AM

Dude, you drove for 3 hours without a license?

If you tried anything like that around here you'd get jumped on and probably sexually abused by the police. DAMN them. Can't believe the police who shot that brazilian guy 7 times in the head aren't getting charged at all. I think we here in the UK have one of the worst justice systems in the world.

I was bored, so I decided to make lunch completely one handed.
The sandwich went well, but putting twist ties back in the lettuce and bread bags was hell. I ended up boiling my noodles dry, and they got burned to the bottom of the pan. =/

Now everything stinks.

Futuro 07-18-2006 11:30 AM

How does porcupine tree release 20+ albums and still remain unknown in america?

Janeway 07-18-2006 11:37 AM

http://www.chuckivy.com/LiveMusic/PorcupineTree.jpg

Because Nazi's aren't cool.

LiquidTensionTheatre 07-18-2006 11:45 AM

Because they're called Porcupine Tree?

I quite like them =)

~~

trysthedrummer 07-18-2006 11:51 AM

Mm Porcy Tree are very popular over here in Europe, there is a band over in the US that are very similar to PT, I can't remember their name. Maybe that puts 'em off. :) No, I wouldn't have a clue tbh, not enough air time.

Their most well-known albums are In Absentia onwards, and they've released loads of remastered ones such as "Stupid Dream." An absolute classic. Porcupine Tree's best to date I think.

They're recording their next album for early next year, and their side project "Blackfield" later this year.

edit: Sorry to go off point

yuh, but if you were a police officer who was given the resposibility of stopping any suspicious people, when another terrorist attack could happen anytime soon, i think you'd be a bit trigger happy.

Also, the fact that he didn't stop for the police gave them the right to shoot him. . But what if he was a terrorist with a bomb? Then you wouldn't be bitching about the police and our justice system.

If you want slack law, come down west country. We've got more road than luxembourge in devon, and the police force is like, the smallest in the country.

I agree, I think that policeman acted in the right way- he was forced to do it.

Hey everybody.
How goes?

Drum Phil 07-18-2006 01:28 PM

Theres is video evidence that Zinedine Zidane's offence in the world cup was seen differently in different countries:

As seen in germany:

As seen in france:

As seen in italy:

As seen in america:

Drum Phil 07-18-2006 01:29 PM

and of course, as it was seen by the press:

More people like soccer than I thought.

Pleaseme 07-18-2006 01:40 PM

Arg, last two don't work! I'm dying to see what they are now.

Janeway 07-18-2006 02:23 PM

In any American sport, that type of rough housing would have been wildly supported. Soccer players are such big sissies it makes me sick.

Absolutely, but police who have had firearms training are taught to incapacitate by shooting key points which will render the victim useless, and yet not kill them.

Perhaps surprisingly, the head is not one of those points.

IMO, one bullet instead would have had the same effect only saved an innocent life.

I do agree with you about them being right to shoot, though.

~~

EDIT: Haha, perhaps the "As seen in Italy" would have been better with the video of the italian player catching fire after the headbutt which I believe is currently on youtube.

I think the French have it right!

Police are normally instructed to aim for the chest, as it is the largest body part. However, as the person was a suspected bomber, who could have had explosives strapped to his chest, they took aim at the next biggest target, the head.

Seems pretty self-explanatory to me.

Damn Snakes On A Plane.

Stupidest looking movie EVER.

But I'm a sucker for the theme song =(

And yeah..it's not that good or whatever, but..

You kidding?

Samuel. L. Jackson.

That alone is worth the price of admission.

Janeway 07-18-2006 06:50 PM

I wonder if it's possible to be arrested for being a fraud missionary.

Hm...

I just ate a cup of yogurt that was frozen.
