yo where at? syracuse?
Buffalo. At this place called The Funeral Home. It was pretty wild. |
ah nice i've heard the funeral home is awesome. i was going to go to the most recent weekend nachos show there but i ended up having to leave for school early instead
|
Yeah, it's the best venue going right now.
That Weekend Nachos show was insane, by the way. Highlights include silly string, pool noodles, foam balls, firecrackers, and sparklers in the pit. |
yeah the video on youtube rules. so pissed i couldn't go

They're playing at a club venue in Pittsburgh tonight and tickets are like $25. It's good to know that they still play house shows and don't only get on bills with huge metal bands, though. I think I've been to more Cleveland shows in the last few months than anywhere in PA. |
Yeah, I don't think Earth Crisis play house shows very often, but right now that house is the best venue in town. Terror and Trapped Under Ice are playing (separate) shows there in November.
West PA seems to be lacking in shows over the last year or two. I used to go to Erie every so often, but it has been a while now. Cleveland seems to get a lot of cool shows, but I've never actually been there. |
I think I might take a bus to Buffalo for that TUI show.
Erie is dead. Sometimes there are shows at the off-campus community center in Edinboro, but there really aren't any venues around here. People in Cleveland seem super friendly, but there isn't much to do around the city. It gets cool shows though and there are a couple of good venues. |
update from this weekend:
i'm never stage diving again. Legion is the best band in the South, absolutely no arguing on this. calling your friends collect inevitably leads to everyone assuming you're in jail. ATL straight edge kids mosh makes me feel sore. Ghetto Josh (of Ghetto Josh Records fame) is the nicest asshole ever. Young and in the Way rules hard as fuck. New Torch Runner is some of the best music coming out right now. Girls from Mississippi earn the name Mis-I-sippy queen. Drinking for 72 hrs with only 8 hrs of sleep is a bad decision for moshlympics. The South has one of the best scenes in the world.
yo, did you check out Damaged Goods at this? also, out crowd was fucking great at that fest also, what up mx? |

Floorpunch The Wrongside Pegasus Face Reality Agitator Broad Street Ministry doors at 730 15 dollars Last week, Joe “Hardcore” Mckay was arrested in Philadelphia while driving in his car on the way to work on his friend's house. He was unaware that his passenger was carrying illegal drugs and despite the fact that both he and the passenger admitted that he was unaware of what was in the car at the time, he was charged with a felony possession charge. His lawyer is confident that the case will not stand in court, yet as we all know, good lawyers cost money. Outside of the shows that Joe books, he is a family man with 3 kids and child support to pay. His job is seasonal and with all the recent rain, has been in and out of work over the past 2 months. Needless to say, this is a terrible time for him and his loved ones at home to have to stress over the pending charges and scrape together money for a lawyer. Joe is someone I consider to be one of my closest and best friends so when I heard about what happened I wanted to help out anyway I could. The thing that made the most sense to me was to do a show. He did everything he could to convince me that we could think of other alternatives but after a lot of arguing I got my way and was left with less than 3 weeks to put something together. With the help of Robby Redcheeks and Dave Sausage, the lineup that we created is: COLD WORLD FLOORPUNCH THE WRONGSIDE FACE REALITY AGITATOR These bands were all generous enough to agree to play when I asked and I could not be more thankful. Floorpunch and The Wrongside arent exactly active, Cold World flew Dan in from England, Face Reality is making the drive from Detroit, and Agitator is set to open it all up. It proves how much people care about Joe and what he has done for Philly/hardcore kids in general over the last couple of years. Anyone that has been to a show here has seen him/probably ended up in a conversation with him and should know how much hardcore has meant to him and how much he puts into making everything the best it can be. Now when he's in need, it's time to give some back. I wanna say thank you to Linas Garsys for doing an unreal job on the prints that Robby is going to screen and a sincere thanks to bands for playing and labels that are contributing things to be raffled off at the show-deathwish, backtoback, harvcore, b9, triple b, youngblood and react! There will also be assorted other things for sale at the show, shirts, prints, posters, etc. This will be something that is truly special to be a part of and I couldn't be more happy to see the hardcore community show their support and be able to see an incredible show at the same time. Also, thanks to LIAM and everyone at broad street for letting us have the event at their venue for 100 percent free just because they wanted to help as much as possible/not take any money in return for their kindness If you want to help but can't make it to the show, we have set up a paypal where you can donate.
I can't make it to this cause I'm playing a show the same night, but some of you should go out to it if you can. I'm sure we all know who Joe is. |

Yeah, he had a seizure. According to their facebook, he's fine and they're back on the road. Looks like I'll be missing Bane, Defeater, and Miles Away next week too. Goddamnit. Hopefully I can make it out to see Casey Jones in February. |
