The jazz community rejected Bitches Brew, so yeah they would've been pretty pissed off.
|
Either the Daily Show or the Colbert Report did a bit on Miles Davis getting inducted, I can't remember which. It was hilarious though. But really, when are those shows not hilarious?

Salvalvalo: Are you alive, man?
Salvalvalo: Are you alive, man?
I've never heard of them..what are they like? |
Bob Dylan's coming here.
Tickets are $125. Fuck that.
I saw bob dylan in an outside theatre a couple years back in quebec, it wasnt a very good concert, he mumbled most of the time and didn't even do an encore. I wouldn't pay 125 to see him its worth more buying all of his albums for that |
I've never heard of them..what are they like?
 hehe... Yes I'm alive, thanks for asking! I've been listening to The Kinks' Face To Face, I really like it, Rosie Won't You Please Come Home is cool. |
Face to Face, ehh? Yea, I just got into it recently. It's just like Rubber Soul in a way. I mean that like two very poppy British Rock bands just starting to mature in their songwriting and incorporating some new styles like the droning Middle-Eastern sound on "Fancy" or the really bluesy guitar parts of "Little Miss Queen of Darkness" and those are just some examples, the whole album follows this pattern. This album and Rubber Soul raised the bar for British Invasion bands. Great album, the best Kinks album behind Village Green.
Still reading the thread I see. It's been what? A year since we've last heard from you. How are you, man? Listening to any other types of music, besides Classic Rock I mean? (Jazz, Blues, Reggae, Trip-Hop, African Folk, Krautrock ..etc) How have you enjoyed the last year of conversation? |
Never heard Face To Face.. I should listen to The Kinks more.
Who's making the new thread? |
Who's making the new thread?
Either Med or me and I'm not quite sure who we've decided on yet.
I should listen to The Kinks more.
Yes you should, if you haven't yet downloaded or bought Village Green by now, I demand you break into your nearest record store and steal it. It'll be worth it. Seriously though, I'd say the songwriting on it is better than Sgt. Peppers. After listening to couple of their albums I decided Ray Davies (the Kink's main songwriter) is a better songwriter than Paul McCartney. That's how highly I think of the Kinks, they're that good.
I've never heard of *them..what are they like?
*He's like the Indian from "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" that never says anything, has been around forever, everyone thinks is deaf and dumb but in fact listens in on everything and never ever gives his an opinion on anything. You never see him but oh he's there, he's definitely there. I mean it leads you to question his sanity: are you crazy chief? Yes, I do think that's an accurate description of our creepy friend, Salvalvalo. :p "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest": Outstanding book, highly recommend. Plus it's by Ken Kesey. (<----who's this, Dead fans? Anyone who answers correct gets rep+) NP: The End - The Beatles (I'm on a non-stop Beatles marathon going through every album from Hard Days Night to Let It Be (Naked) + :smoke: ) |
has anyone responded to what i had to say....I lost what page my reply was on lol..
|
What did you have to say?
Did you guys ever check out Little Barrie? |
I thought we all said Med should do the first post.
Ray Davies being better then Paul? I'll go with a no, Ray has so much trash and filler also. Don't get me wrong I think he is great I just think there are a lot of filler on almost every album sept for maybe 2-3 (Arthur, Village Green, Lola). |
Ray is playing a show near me either tonight or tomorow.
|
I think Med should make the first post aswell but I don't think we need a new thread yet though.
I got a drumset last night from my uncle. "It's old but it's gooood". Guess the quote. Yeah I suck at them anyways. |
Led ZepPelin Lives Forever!
|
i love clasic rock. Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin Kick seven sades of ***!! would metallica be classic. they've been around forever
|
there not rock, there metal...technically.. i dare you to go say metallica rules!!! in the children of bodom thread, that would be huilarious.
|
Hmm...
I slept through my first class, but I don't care because I'm going to see B.B. King tonight  NP: The Beatles - Love Me Do |
"One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest": Outstanding book, highly recommend. Plus it's by Ken Kesey. (<----who's this, Dead fans? Anyone who answers correct gets rep+)
It doesn't take a Dead fan to know who Ken Kesey is. He's quite a notable writer...and acid freak. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is a great book, as is Sometimes a Great Notion. |
It doesn't take a Dead fan to know who Ken Kesey is. He's quite a notable writer...and acid freak.
Of course not, I was just trying to make a connection to Classic Rock. After all if it weren't for him making LSD popular in San Fransisco, where would the Bay Area scene have gone? I've never read Sometimes a Great Notion, would you say it compares in greatness to Cukoo's Nest?
has anyone responded to what i had to say....I lost what page my reply was on lol..
Well you didn't have much to say to tell you the truth. We get tons of replies just like that and we usually just ignore them. Just try to stay on the topic of current conversation and you'll surly get answered.
So Med is posting it, the thread title is Classic Rock Revisited and that just leaves one question: is the first post ready and if not what should we put in it? |

yes I'm likeing Contemplating the Engine Room.
Either Med or me and I'm not quite sure who we've decided on yet
Did we actually decide on you or Med? I don't recall this decision. Yeah, it's pretty cool. I've been into fIREHOSE a bit too lately. And Refused. I really like One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. It was, at one time, my favorite book. The movie's great too. Stunning performance by Jack Nicholson. |
Refused are awesome.

I'm okay, how are you? No idea how long it's been since I posted, but yes still reading it, I started University so I've been behind but I've caught up now. Um, the conversation has been quite good yes, except for the endless, meaningless arguments. My house-mate has actually tried to get me listening to different types of music like tribal (he's always playing his percussion from all over the world) but I have no clue who the artists are.
*He's like the Indian from "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" ... You're Welcome. "Elizabeth Reed" is awesome.
http://www.sputnikmusic.com/news.php?newsid=286&genreid=0
I would expect that from Tommy Lee, but I really though Newsted was above that kind of crap. /major loss of respect ++ |
Oh yeah.
My dad volunteers to work concerts at local venues. He is working Wilco, so I get to go. :) /happy I'm going to Wilco, DSO and Walter Trout so far. |
Hah that Dead Milkmen video is cool.

Lucky. I've had a couple oppurtunities to see DSO, but they're always at the place that's all general admission, and my dad has a bad back so he can't stand for an entire concert and there's no one else to take me :( |
