Spaceman Spiff 08-24-2009 03:38 PM

Album is mixed. Just needs a few more tweaks, then mastering. Should be off to the printer this weekend.

Listening to it all the way through made me very happy.

Epidemechanical 08-24-2009 03:40 PM
prolly gonna wanna go ahead and upload it
Nah, I'll wait until we have the final product. In addition to selling official printed copies, we'll stream the whole thing on Myspace, upload it to sites like YSI and such, and probably put it on torrent sites, too.

Epidemechanical 08-24-2009 04:05 PM

why would you sell copies just give them away dude seriously

not my advice its reznors

Free downloads is giving it away.

We gave away a ton of physical copies of Population Control, but we're actually going to sell the physical copies of this one, as the cost us money to get printed.

Epidemechanical 08-24-2009 04:31 PM

you wont make any money and you'll just limit your audience. when you invest in hard copies you're making an investment into expanding your audience. the days of buying music are DONE. give that **** away.

Spaceman Spiff 08-24-2009 04:41 PM

I don't see how charging $5 for an album is going to limit our audience, especially if we're already offering free downloads of it.

It comes with a booklet, original artwork, and over 40 minutes of music. And our album sales generally come from people who just saw us perform, so it's not really a stretch that they'd pay an added $5 for a CD on top of $5 for a ticket to the show. It's happened before.

We're certainly not trying or expecting to make a big profit off the CDs, just break even for cost of printing them. There are still plenty of people who love buying an album and going through the booklet and looking at the artwork and all that crap.

Epidemechanical 08-24-2009 04:44 PM

yeah they can go through the artwork and look at the booklet if you give them away too

Epidemechanical 08-24-2009 04:44 PM

though 5 dollars is ok

Spaceman Spiff 08-24-2009 04:51 PM

We're not going out there trying to rip anyone off, we're just trying to put our music out there for people to hear. And, as I mentioned, break even on the cost of the printing.

We've played shows where bands are trying to sell a 4 or 5 song EP for $10 or more.

We played a show with a band that basically said they were doing it to turn a profit. And they weren't expecting it from ticket sales, just from other bands paying their "share" of the cost of the venue. They basically lied to everyone so they could make money off the bands they were playing with.

We don't do stuff like that.

Epidemechanical 08-24-2009 05:14 PM

umm ok i never said you did why are you tangenting

Gattsu347 08-24-2009 05:21 PM

our demo is 4 songs for 2 buck,

recording quality is decent.

Just talking.

Efrim 08-24-2009 05:36 PM

Well, turns out one of my subletters is leaving early, so I get to move in to my apartment ahead of schedule. What a wonderful day, I also managed to secure a $10k donation at work.

Nice!

You have to come down (up?) and visit sometime this year. Once I get employment, I'll glad contribute to the bus fare, or whatever.

Sounds like a plan, stan.
I want more of that best bitters.

I'm barbecuing again, beef this time. I also made this great salad with feta and such. Basically, Montreal has some incredibly cheap places to buy incredibly good foodstuffs.

Wanna come up tomorrow Ben? We can drink and eat and such.

Jealous. I'd love to come up, except for the whole moving stuff and packing and whatnot.

Efrim 08-24-2009 06:03 PM

Sounds stupid, come up and forget about it.

BenJammin 08-24-2009 06:12 PM

When do you turn 19?

Spaceman Spiff 08-24-2009 06:14 PM

One of these days soon I'm going to have to get my hands on some lamb. It's been way too long since I last had some.

Efrim 08-24-2009 07:30 PM
When do you turn 19?
My god it's a good meat. Make sure to trim the excess fat, cause a lot of chop cuts are too fatty from the outset.

Oh, excellent. I lost track of your age. This means I can take you to the wonderful pubs here that serve delicious varieties of beer.

Pluperfect_Arson 08-24-2009 09:30 PM

Ben is looking for some sex in this thread.

I never trust band accounts, who's going to be in charge of it? Better off splitting the earnings equally and leaving it up to people to pony up the money for their own concerns.
why would you sell copies just give them away dude seriously

Don't forget, Reznor can afford to give things away. It's easy to spout off on giving music away for free and doing it for the love of it when you're sitting on top of a pile of money.

funkyhoney 08-24-2009 10:38 PM

I don't have a particular penchant for Reznor, I don't see why he's some kind of underground hero as it were.

BenJammin 08-24-2009 10:46 PM
I love pubs that have delicious varieties of beer.
We have a great pub here that has several dozen types of beer. They actually give you a beer menu separate from the regular wine and cocktail menu.

We have a place like that here that I don't go to often enough. The Belgian Beer Cafe.

gaslight 08-24-2009 10:49 PM

Yeah there's some things of that nature around here too.

I'm off alcohol for the foreseeable future though, it's too much of a waste of money.

funkyhoney 08-24-2009 10:50 PM

Hahaha they only have 3 Belgian beers and two of them are Stella and Chimay white... **** me. Should at least get Delirium Tremens, Chimay blue, Duvel and Leffe.

I laugh at the total lack of Australian beers  Laugh in an encouraging manner... they're all ****.
Yeah there's some things of that nature around here too.

Just drink less. I'm sick of people swearing off liquor because it's a waste of money, just don't have as much, simple. Maybe all this time working with liquor has made me intolerant of such ideals; I see too many drunks and **** who just come in and get either a shitload of stuff or just enough to get maggot without going into a coma every single day. If you can't keep liquor in your house without drinking it or are cutting out necessities, THEN you have a reason to stop drinking and find help.

I love only pubs. and liquor.

Efrim 08-24-2009 11:03 PM

Holy ****, i met have just run into the girl of my dreams. English major, confident, is on the biking team, knows a bunch about bike mechanics, loves music an has heard of and is cool with the locust. its all pretty great. also, i pretended i was cool and pulled her in for kissing, which we did at great length. i may have a winner here.

funkyhoney 08-24-2009 11:04 PM

And then she saw the tentacle crab dog on your belly.
