Very good. I had never heard the song before, and it suprised me when they said it was the B side to Lady Madonna. Good job. :thumb:

It's a Harrison composition that combines sitar with some simple acoustic guitar. I like it. Jeff Lynne played it on the Concert For George.

blue3 02-01-2006 10:31 PM

Alright, cool. I haven't seen Concert For George either.. :(

thickasabrick 02-01-2006 10:41 PM

I know my vinyl pretty well, but just LP's. I don't know anything about singles. That's me trying to get around saying I had no clue it was The Inner Light.

How many different songs did the Beatles have that included the sitar? I don't actually know the answer, this isn't like a quiz or anything. But I'll give you a prize if you find/know the answer.

BigTrav415 02-01-2006 10:45 PM

I believe 4: Norweigian Wood, Love You To, Tomorrow Never Knows, and The Inner Light.

You forgot a biggie: Within You Without You

magicbus 02-01-2006 10:52 PM

Also "Within You Without You". I can't think of any others at the moment.
You forgot a biggie: Within You Without You
Haha! When I read that I said "Ooooooh!"

Yeah, that's how many I counted too. Five.

Cardboard Headgear 02-01-2006 11:26 PM

So I'm enrolled in a class at San Francisco State were the subject is The Beatles. Not only is it a fun class, it also counts as part of a GE segment! Far too awesome.

Leper 02-02-2006 12:04 AM

I would kill for a course like that. I doubt my university offers such a class.

blue3 02-02-2006 12:05 AM

Yeah, I wish there was a class like that here. That'd be awesome.

gmoneyguy 02-02-2006 12:32 AM

I take it SFS is a very Liberal school. That would be an awesome class though. The closest thing I get to that I get/have to take is music history.

Seafroggys 02-02-2006 12:39 AM

The Inner Light is easily the best sitar song The Beatles did. I've always thought it was a beautiful song.

Leper 02-02-2006 01:38 AM

/is downloading that song as we speak

/also has never heard it.:(

Seafroggys 02-02-2006 01:54 AM

i'm surprised that so many people have not heard The Inner Light! Then again, it was never on an album, and not on "1", so I can see that happening.

Its always been one of my favorite Beatle songs, for like the past 5 years!

Cardboard Headgear 02-02-2006 02:42 AM
I take it SFS is a very Liberal school.
Well yeah, it's San Francisco.

:p

gmoneyguy 02-02-2006 01:57 PM

Who else here, besides me, prefers the Naked version of Let It Be to the original

WelcomeToTheMachine 02-02-2006 02:01 PM

the Naked is way better IMO

magicbus 02-02-2006 02:18 PM

I don't think I've heard the Inner Light. I may already have it though...I'll have to look around.

I just watched the Come Together one, it was amazing. I don't have time to watch the other ones at the moment, but I defintely will. That was so cool. I'll leave it at that.

DeusExMachina 02-02-2006 03:56 PM

Those are really cool. Snazzy.

gmoneyguy 02-02-2006 04:08 PM

Wow, those are awesome.

blue3 02-02-2006 06:23 PM

That was cool. I finally heard The Inner Light, it's a good song.

Britton 02-02-2006 06:46 PM

Dude that's crazy!

I'll have to watch some more of them sometime

Cardboard Headgear 02-02-2006 09:05 PM

So lately I've been listening to I'm Only Sleeping, And Your Bird Can Sing, and Michelle probably more than is healthy.

EDIT: I forgot Here, There and Everywhere. I'm on quite a Revolver kick.

MBS 02-02-2006 09:09 PM

And Your Bird Can Sing is a really good Beatles song, I love it.

Broken Arrow 02-02-2006 09:48 PM

I love the layers and layers of guitars used in that song, very melodic.

Leper 02-03-2006 01:00 AM

I know I said before that I wasn't that fond of And Your Bird Can Sing, but like most Beatles songs, I'm warming up to it.

magicbus 02-03-2006 11:47 AM

"And Your Bird Can Sing" is pretty awesome. I really love the "fast switching chords" guitar intro.

idspispopd 02-03-2006 02:32 PM

I love revolution 1. in my opinion, that is the perfect song. If only George Harrison used the bridge pickup on the white album for the rhythm parts...

MBS 02-03-2006 02:44 PM
If only George Harrison used the bridge pickup on the white album for the rhythm parts...
Why do you say this?

Magical_Mystery_Tour 02-03-2006 03:00 PM
And Your Bird Can Sing is a really good Beatles song, I love it.
I don't care to much for it. It's a decent song but not great IMO. The anthology version where Paul can't stop laughing is pretty good though.

Leper 02-04-2006 02:21 AM

Is it just me, or does Lady Madonna sound like it was recorded during the Let it Be recording sessions? The way Paul's vocals are recorded sound a lot like how they are on much of Let it Be...

DeusExMachina 02-04-2006 10:33 AM

Speaking of Revolver...

For No One is the best song on that album. Followed closely by I'm Only Sleeping, Here There and Everywhere, and Eleanor Rigby.

Well, seeing as Lady Madonna came out in early 1968, and Let it Be was recorded in January 1969, I can easily see how that's possible.
