Maybe this is old news, but Dream Theater is covering another album, this time it's Deep Purple's "Made in Japan".
Yeah, it was a page or 2 back, they covered it in Tokyo on Friday.
Has anyone heard of cheappricedtickets.com?

I just bought DT tickets from them. Im so happy. Too bad none of my friends like DT (the music is too sophisticated for them). I'll just go with my dad who I got into DT.

The tickets have been confirmed about an hour later. Maybe I'll be on the DVD.

2 Straight hours of DT. It even had an intermission. \m/
That's awesome!

Only 2 hours?

Yeah, that's a bit short...

That would be gay...if his shredding wasn't so sexy!

Supposidly you can get a JP signiture gutiar for around £300, not the proper ££££££££ ones but a cheaper copy. Anyone know anything about this?

No. I want one though.
Only 2 hours?
I may have read it wrong. It could be 2 hours then an intermission and then 2 hours. That would make more sense. If it was only 2 hours, I don't think they will have an intermission.

I'll try to find a glow in the dark shirt and I'll have a sign that is giving a shout out to my fellow DT thread friends.

Do you think they will let me take in a digital camera?

Yeah the 4 hours is more likely.

You might not get let in. When I saw them Cameras weren't allowed but the security wasn't too thorough so you could probably sneak one in.

I doubt they will check down south.

Nope. Unless you have a camera-shaped bulge in your crotch area.

 I've been to gigs before where they scan people with a metal detector, so it might be tricky.

I can say I have a prostetic(spelling ?) leg...or I can borrow my sisters picture camera. Pics won't be too good though.

Do they not want disposable cameras either?

nowitzki 01-17-2006 02:52 PM

Well I can understand if its being filmed for a DVD then they probably don't want flashes going off in the audience, so I'm guessing they might be quite strict on it . I suppose you can ring the venue and see what they say.

Lord Abortion 01-17-2006 02:54 PM

I didn't know how to react when Mike discribed favourite DT songs of mine as "radio friendly" on that commentary.

Solitary shell, hollow years, Lie...

NP-Solitary shell (screw you mike :p)

I'm one of the people attracted to the 3rd side of DT, the melodic side, I like the prog and the metal too, of course, but that's my favourite, partly because James' voice suits it so well.

Jev 01-17-2006 02:57 PM

It should say on the back of the ticket wether Cameras are allowed or not.

same here. solitary shell is my favourite section of 6DOIT (the 2nd disk) and the live at Budokan version is amazing. i really like the silent man too. me being a fan of their melodic stuff is probably the reason behind why hell's kitchen is my favourite DT instrumental.

NP: the spirit carries on

Lord Abortion 01-17-2006 03:35 PM

Take away my pain is crying at the CD player good.

Yeah that's the OLP version. They make budget versions of MusicMan guitars similar to how Epiphone makes budget versions of Gibsons. From what I've read the reviews of it seem to be pretty mixed. Also, is there such a thing as the "When Dream and Day Unite DVD?" Is it some kind of fanclub thing? Cos if it exists then I fricking want it.

It's the first album played with the current line-up, recorded on the 15th anniversary of its release during the ToT tour. It also has Charlie (Dominici) singing To Live Forever and Metropolis Pt 1, with Derek (Sherinian) playing keyboards on Metropolis.

It's from the Official Bootleg website - www.ytsejamrecords.com

And it's called When Dream And Day ReUnite.

I'll check it. The ticket is coming in the mail any day now.

Fun Fact: Live at Budokon was filmed on my birthday.

Say that aloud, and you'll giggle too.

I love OIALT so much now, I did the Budokan thing of being unhappy with the set, but realised otherwise instantly.

When I reread it I did giggle. Thanks for pointing that out.

Darkness 01-17-2006 06:40 PM

Are these guys on tour right now?

GenuineImitation 01-17-2006 06:48 PM

Feb 24th is the first day of the tour.

Thats too bad. I think they are touring over the summer for Gigantour 2. You may catch them then.

Where are you from anyway?

Darkness 01-17-2006 07:01 PM

I'm from Alberta, Canada. Last Gigantour they skipped out on the west side of Canada... sucks.

GenuineImitation 01-17-2006 07:16 PM

That stinks. How far are you from the border. If they ever play in Seattle, you could go to that one.

Darkness 01-17-2006 07:36 PM

I live about 45 min east of Edmonton, nowhere near the border. :upset:

ghettoeddo 01-17-2006 09:53 PM

Yeah, didn't come anywhere near St. Louis on Gigantour and aren't coming anywhere near it for their Evening With... Tour now. :( :( :(

The_Riddler 01-18-2006 02:34 AM

I haven't posted in this topic in awhile, and well, this isn't the best thing to be brought into discussion either.

But ever since I bought Octavarium, I thought the first songs opening riff sounded a lot like something Audioslave released. Not really identicle, but just something similar.

Either way, I just ordered two or three Dream Theater cd's, can't wait until I get the money to buy them :)

nowitzki 01-18-2006 03:05 AM

I can't really see the Audioslave similarity myself.

Recently I've been enjoying the second disc of 6DOIT. It really is amazing.

Jev 01-18-2006 10:04 AM

Connection between Root of All Evil and Audioslave = fail.
I can't see any connections myself apart from the Muse one and the fact a part of Beyond This Life sounds like Money, only pointed out by DT themselves.

bwnstl 01-18-2006 10:13 AM

OMMGGZZRZZ = Disappear is teh secksorzz

I love the lyrics and the way James "Sexy" LaBrie sings them. The music to it is amazingly haunting too. MMmmm.

Yeah, I know it's been said already, I just wanted to say it again...

6DOIT... the only album I don't have

I would've gotten it before but I think it's rediculous when you have to pay £24 for a 2 disc album.

I agree too.

My current school drama project is using the opening of Finally free and the first five minutes of Hollow years.
