This sounds pretty good Oz. The vocals remind me a little bit of Kai Hansen in early Helloween. The guitars are nice and crisp with alot if nice riffs. You did this by yourself?

Deth 06-13-2006 10:26 AM

I'm downloading it now. I'll give you some thoughts in a little bit.

60 megs is really big for one song.

Stormrider 06-13-2006 10:30 AM
Probably Imaginations From The Other Side. That whole album is really good. Favorite track would probably be either the title track, Another Holy War or Mordred's Song. Nightfall in Middle Earth is pretty good as well. Somewhere Far Beyond is ok if for no other reason that The Bard's Song. I've got Battalions Of Fear and Follow The Blind, but I haven't really listened to them a whole lot.
Nice :), my favorite one is Imaginations from the Otherside. BG album I've been listening to the most lately.

And I gave Sonata Arctica my first real listen yesterday, and I didn't like it all that much :-/ It wasn't bad, just not awsome either...

Deth 06-13-2006 10:31 AM

I didn't like Sonata Arctica that much to begin with either. They have some great songs though. Which songs did you listen to btw?

I do trade-offs with a friend of mine in the solo section but all the other instruments are me. I know I could make the drums sound better. I just got BFD from a torrent and I haven't learned how to use it well yet so I just used my drum machine's audio.

The first few on Reckoning Night. From what I've heard, I rather their more upbeat, faster stuff then the slower stuff.

Deth 06-13-2006 10:37 AM

I didn't like that album very much really. I understand why it didn't catch your attention.

Stormrider 06-13-2006 10:40 AM

Ah ok then. That explains it. :p

I had heard a song while back, except I never got around to knowing the title. It was pretty cool...

Deth 06-13-2006 11:01 AM
Ok guys, I finished by Swords & Sorcery song for this month's competition. I already wrote lyrics and I recorded myself doing the vocals. The vocals aren't that bad but I'm sure someone else could do better. I've uploaded a wav file of the music, an mp3 of me singing, and the lyrics. Who'd like to give it a go or at least give it a listen? We've got about 2 weeks till the competition deadline.

I like it yeah. The vocals sound a bit muted, but besides that everything is fantastic. I don't think the lyrics are cheesy enough though.

The music is a wav file, I figured if someone was going to import it into some recording software they'd want a wav instead of an mp3. I'll re-up it with just mp3s....

I'm listening to it right now. Kind of reminds me of Di'Anno era Maiden at times. Sounds pretty good.

Reckoning Night is mad hard to get into. I bought it as my first SA album and hated it, but later I got Ecliptica and slowly got more into it. Now, Reckoning Night is my favorite album by them.

Get Ecliptica. It's pretty much all fast, and quite crazy. People say they sound a lot like Stratovarius (not sure why?).

LegionsofMarduk 06-13-2006 01:23 PM

I don't care for Sonata Arctica that much. I have Silence. There are a couple of good songs, but it's by far not my favorite album. Maybe I'll check out some of their other albums.

Everyone please buy Defenders of the crown by Human Fortress.

It's one of the best albums I have heard for aaaages.

MetalOz 06-13-2006 02:16 PM

Where are all those vocalists that were coming out of the woodwork?

This is a smaller download, only 13MB: mp3 of the music, mp3 with me singing, and the lyrics... The earlier post has a wav of the music if you need better quality for recording...

If you can do a better job on the vocals, please help me out!!

That's probably their best album. The other ones just suk nutz, minus a few songs.

Shattered_Future 06-13-2006 04:31 PM

Nah, Reckoning Night is pretty sweet. The other albums are good, but nothing to go nuts over.

I'll check it out when I get home from Uni. I'm sure it'll be good.

Trev 06-13-2006 05:28 PM

Yessss!

Ordered my Bloodstock Open Air ticket! The line up is pretty decent in terms of power metal - Edguy, Stratovarius, Metal Church, Rage, Nocturnal Rites and Pyramaze. :)

Shattered_Future 06-13-2006 05:29 PM

Is Rage any good? My friend keeps telling me to check them out...

Hm, a part of me always wanted to see Stratovarius live. Have a good show :thumb:

Hate Stratos new stuff, eventhough Lauri Porra kicks some ***.

Heh. I have Elements Part 1. I almost never listen to it. It's the most cheesy thing I've ever seen. I don't like it except for that the album has it's moments.

Stormrider 06-14-2006 09:07 AM

Ah, OK then. Episode is actually the only other Stratovarius album that I want I think. I'm not in a hurry to get it though, so it could wait a while.

NP Falkenbach - Heathen Foray

Txus 06-14-2006 09:10 AM

Episode is their best album IMO, I really hate their new album...their new side is awful :(

Stormrider 06-14-2006 09:13 AM

The latest stuff I've heard from them is Elements part 1...I think. And, yeah, I'm not really liking all that much.

I should have bought another album instead of that one.

NP Falkenbach - Of Forest Unknown

Musical_Nerd 06-14-2006 09:16 AM

Bleh I got Visions for Christmas. At first I really didn't like it (exept for the famous Black Diamond, and Holy Light), but I kina forced myself to listen to it, so it grew on me a bit. But it's still not that great.
