redstainedeyes 08-29-2005 07:45 AM

I can't believe any of you guys are actually considering not going to a Clash reunion show.

guns_of_brixton 08-29-2005 02:32 PM

I would go to the Clash reunion, but it won't happen. I don't think its been confirmed.

alkalinesk8er 08-29-2005 02:55 PM

I would go... But I wouldn't pay more than 10 bucks to see Tim Armstrong front them...

guns_of_brixton 08-29-2005 02:57 PM

Well... I was thinking... how AWESOME a Clash reuninon would be if it was fronted by Mike Ness.
Well... I was thinking... how AWESOME a Clash reuninon would be if it was fronted by Mike Ness.
OMG! I would pay like 30 bucks to go see that, and if I didn't have the money, I would murder the ticket guy.

How bout Ian Mckay?

redstainedeyes 08-29-2005 03:16 PM

I forget who said it, but a better idea (if this were true) would be to play a set of Jones/Simonon songs.

CombatRock 08-29-2005 03:16 PM

I would go, just seeing Mick and Paul would make me die happy, specially Paul, i like him just the same if not more than Joe. How much do you think tickets would be?

redstainedeyes 08-29-2005 03:23 PM

No clue...I'm pretty sure it's not happeening so I'm not worried about it.

Forest_Fire 08-29-2005 03:28 PM

Yeah, I don't think its real. Don't getcha hopes up.

Bobby Pyn 08-29-2005 03:29 PM

if it's true, go. if it isn't true, go anyway.

AB/CD 08-29-2005 04:40 PM

id rather see shane magowen take joes place cos when listening to the nips i thought shane sounded a good bit like Joe

CombatRock 08-29-2005 06:22 PM

I have the best idea! Dont replace Joe Strummer.

AB/CD 08-29-2005 06:57 PM

well u no how do u no it wouldnt work like ya no joe yes ok main part of band but sure it worked for Bands like AC/DC

CombatRock 08-29-2005 07:01 PM

I didnt understand one thing you just said haha?

AB/CD 08-29-2005 07:09 PM

basically i get the impression that u think if the clash did reform (if they did they would need to replace joe unless they done songs that mick and paul sang on) that u dont think it would work with some1 else but then again how do u no it wont. it might not be the clash fully but u would still get that same energy from them (unless they r all using walking sticks by now which i doubt)

Forest_Fire 08-29-2005 07:19 PM

So is english your second or third language?

AB/CD 08-29-2005 07:24 PM

may aswell be half the stuff i say sounds ballocks due to growing up in Belfast u pick up a bit of everything here

guns_of_brixton 08-29-2005 07:43 PM

AC/DC shouldn't have replaced Bon Scott. The Clash should not replace Strummer. BUT DONT BUY IT GUYS IT AINT FOR REAL!

SlappedByTheClash 08-29-2005 07:48 PM
may aswell be half the stuff i say sounds ballocks due to growing up in Belfast u pick up a bit of everything here
How do you pick up talking like a crippled baboon?

redstainedeyes 08-29-2005 07:57 PM

crippled baboons are indigenous to Northern Ireland, and are often recruited as teachers for the children.

CombatRock 08-29-2005 07:59 PM
So is english your second or third language?
  .

Dont replace joe, just do songs mick and paul sing on, mick could probley just sing the songs joe sang as well.

Ah.

I suspect that's because the children are too wasted too care?

guns_of_brixton 08-29-2005 08:03 PM

I would be excited if this was Mike Ness instead of Tim.

And Tim Armstrong sings like a retarded cunt. Ya might as well let Paulo sing, because Paul Simonon singing = retarded **** singing. And Mick had a good ability to sing and play at once... they could just let him do it.

Mike can do Death Or Glory really good. But on something like Bankrobber?

I can see that falling apart pretty fast.

Would that mean Tim would play bass for guns of brixton? I loves pauls retard voice haha.

RIP Ian Curtis 08-29-2005 10:52 PM

and mick does that awesome staggering dance...

JohnXDoesn't 08-29-2005 11:12 PM

It's not going to happen. I'm glad it's not. Can you imagine the Clash without Joe? Simple as that. I'm sure no one else can, either. They have no reason to come back. And really, who's gonna sing Joe's songs? Tim? Mike? No way. He wrote those songs. He meant those songs. Certainly they can be covered, but they should not be performed again under the name of the Clash. And why the Clash now? The world doesn't need the Clash, version 2.0, for no reason or purpose at all. And replacing Joe with Tim would be like replacing John Lennon in the Beatles with Liam Gallager. It's just not right. Not for money, not for fame, not for the fans, or even for the sake of the music. Not even close to right.

The Clash existed in a moment of time that was special because they made it special. And they helped bring meaning and purpose to punk rock and furthered the meaning and purpose of rock n roll in general. They left behind a great legacy and a fine example of what a rock n roll band could be if they only cared enough about the music and brought a message with it. They broke down barriers, musical and otherwise, and wouldn't take no for an answer. And as time goes by they may very well be remembered as the band that made punk stick, so to speak.

Nah, they ain't coming and I'm happy about it. What we don't have, we won't miss. It comes at too high a price and compromise. I say we let the Clash rest in peace. And let Joe rest with 'em.

SlappedByTheClash 08-29-2005 11:14 PM

Wow. You actually made me proud with that statement.

I promised myself i wouldn't cry...

RIP Ian Curtis 08-29-2005 11:25 PM

*thunderous applause* i like that little line about making punk "stick", theres definately something in that, although I'm not quite knowledgeable enough to figure the whole deal out. And the comparrison to John Lennon/Liam Gallagher was sheer brilliance, and I hate John Lennon.
