Anything else from 1964 < A Love Supreme
I deleted my AIM when I reformatted my computer. Here's my e mail if you want it: bjschyma@hotmail.com
A Love Supreme was '65. |
Wake of the Flood is awesome. Probably my 3rd favorite studio album by the Dead.
I played that on my dads record player awhile ago and thought that was ok, for the first time hearing it. (I know, its sad :upset:) But to get me goin on some, whats the best, or your favorite Dead album. Anyone? |
Workingman's Dead
American Beauty Wake of the Flood Aoxomoxoa Blues For Allah From the Mars Hotel Are my top 6. Depends on the mood really. |
A Love Supreme was '65.
It was released in '65 but it was recorded in '64 though. I'm going to refuse that I stand corrected and go with that. :p
Thank a-lot, Lunch. |
Does anyone have Swordfishtrombones or Bone Machine? If so, can you possibly send whichever you have?
|
Sent out Kraftwerk now working on Black Flag. Just got done making brownies, hopefully they will turn out good. I started from scratch.
My favorite Dead is American Beauty but its only one of five that I have heard. |
Awesome, I'll have to go to the library and check some of that out soon.
/Note to self: Start with Workingman's Dead and American Beauty. |

Thank a-lot, Lunch.
You're in my 'Classic Rock' address book on my yahoo account, so that worked out. You download the song yet? |
So I picked up Al DiMeola's Elegant Gypsy album and John Fruciante's Inside of Emptiness today. Elegant Gypsy is pretty good, I haven't listened to the Frusciante; however.

elegant gypsy is an amazing album, have heard any of his stuff from when he was in return to forever? I'm a huge frusciante fan, but I cannot find Inside of Emptiness anywhere |
1965-Highway 61 Revisited and Rubber Soul are released. Two of the most important albums ever made.
Oh yeah speaking of Can. Ege Bamyasi>Tago Mago |

Good call. What I Saw, A Firm Kick, 666 and World's Edge are my favorite songs on that album, but I like them all, really. |

I'm a major John Frusciante fan, but I haven't heard Emptiness yet. I have Curtains and A Sphere In The Heart Of Silence, and those are great. He's so talented. np: Cheap Trick - Surrender |
Cheap Trick is awesome. Has anyone seen them live?
|
Help also came out in 1965.
Help > Rubber Soul I'm probably the only one here who has that opinion. |
Cheap Trick is awesome. Has anyone seen them live?
No :( But they're here with Aerosmith in a month. |
Yeah, I'm seeing them and Aerosmith in less than a month.
I like Rubber Soul more than Help. |
You're in my 'Classic Rock' address book on my yahoo account, so that worked out. You download the song yet?
Yea, I'm listening to it right now, it's pretty cool psychedelia and now I'm interested in hearing more. I'm going to try to get one of those free rapidshare accounts and download the entire album. Exactly when do they give out rapidshare accounts anyway?
Well I've gone for 3 years now being sneaky as hell in my attempt to hide my marijuana habit from my loving parents but now that has reached an end. My dad tried to drug test me and I tried to use the ol' yellow food coloring trick again but it failed like a dead tree. Not only did I test positive but I also gave my parents proof of how deceiving and sneaky I can be. Great falure......but what can I say? It was bound to happen sooner or later right? Trust with them has now reached an all time low. These are not well times........:( |
Help < Rubber Soul < Revolver
Cheap Trick is alright. Surrender is a really catchy song. Sorry to hear that Schyma. What made them want to drug test you? |
What made them want to drug test you?
Well did you read that story about me getting chased by cops? (if you didn't see that story this won't make any sense) Well it turns out after all that bull**** I went through my name got *mentioned at the scene of the crime and a cop came to my dad's house and told him that my friends ratted me out and that we were smoking pot. So my dad wanted to see if I had been smoking pot. So I'm still not off the hook for all that ****.....
*the ****ing slut we were hanging out with ended up ratting out me and my other friend that got away /hopes that made sense |
Kill the slut. But seriously, that really sucks.
|
Wow that's horrible. You need to move to Canada dude, decriminalization rocks.
|
My mate says classic rock is whatever isn't now but I told him it is like 80's and before, which is right?

Its all a matter of opinion whether or not classic rock includes hair metal and 80's bands. I don't think it does, but opinions again. |

I don't know when/why they give out the temporary free rapidshare accounts, but it's we've had them twice in the recent history here so maybe it'll come up another time soon. Dan (WelcometotheMachine) has been the one to notify us both times I think. |
Jacaranda, this Black Flag album is freaking awesome. JPJ, I think it was you that requested it, any thoughts?
|
Schyma, That's one hell of a story man. Sucks about gettin' busted.
I hate Rapidshare, I found a cool website the other day with a bunch of Floyd videos and kept on having to wait like 72 minutes between downloads. |
I've started listening to all my music in Itunes by album. This will take me approximately 72 days. Wish me luck.

I have yet to listen, but I can't wait. |
"Six-Pack" is probably my favorite song off of Damage. Especially with the little snippet of Rollins talking at the end. I laugh every time.
"What do they know about partyin'? Or anything else?" |
You know that's not true. The good music in the '80's was rare.
Edit: Med, I'm gonna try. Haha. I'm only on the second one now. 'Tis The Season To Be Jelly by Frank Zappa. |
I don't see how anything from before 1980 can be called classic rock
Am I reading this wrong or does it say that nothing from before '80 is classic rock? |

Rare. And I would call approximately 1 or 2 of those bands classic rock. |
Schyma - I can't believe all of that happened and your parents are mad because of the weed, crazy
It must be hard being a hippie in Texas Classic Rock is defined in influences to a point, I'd say. For example, if you had a band that was solely inspired by the San Francisco scene in the late 60's, but was founded in 1998, I would still call them Classic Rock. But there again, that's the argument between Classic Rock as a genre as opposed to an era EDIT: 1966 Revolver FTW |
