It made me realize I need to listen to more Rufus Wainwright.
No, no you don't. I mean ya Want One is decent for about 5 listens then after that the guy seems just so extremly vain and cocky, not to mention he is a flamer.

PinkFreud 03-07-2006 07:47 AM
Buckley is a god. Do you guys listen to his dad at all?
Yeah, he's definitely a cool listen. Jazzy folk is an interesting combination but you can really tell where Jeff got his great voice.

I like Rufus Wainwright. Poses is a great album. I can only listen to him every once in a while though.

ATM 03-07-2006 08:43 AM

http://umusicimages.ca/rufuswainwright/microsite/info2.jpg

hahah

He's descent. I have Want One and liked it at first, but it got old.

PinkFreud 03-07-2006 08:46 AM

Yes, he's very much gay. Haha. I'm so oblivious to stuff like that though. I didn't know he was gay until someone told me despite having the song "One Man Kind Of Guy." I don't know what's wrong with me.

ATM 03-07-2006 09:17 AM

One of my friends saw him rescently, and said he kept talking about how he wanted to fuck Jeff Buckley.

temporary 03-07-2006 02:24 PM

So, for the first time I actually bothered to check out this "Just For You" thing on iTunes. They actually recomended some good stuff (some Kris Kristofferson, Blind Faith's Presence of the Lord, some live Sabbath, some Procol Harum Traffic, Dylan, and whatnot.) I already had all the good stuff, but it was still kinda cool.

MidnightRider 03-07-2006 02:34 PM
One of my friends saw him rescently, and said he kept talking about how he wanted to fuck Jeff Buckley.
I wonder how many fans he scared off.

Well, I finally found someone outside of MX who likes CR. This guy in my theater class let me borrow his iPod today, and he had a bunch of Dylan and The Who and CSNY. He even had some Moody Blues.

PinkFreud 03-07-2006 03:01 PM

Holy god. I am going to this. I'd better be. Screw Bonnaroo.

http://www.wakarusa.com/2006/lineup.asp

Look at that lineup! Buckethead, Govt. Mule, Les Claypool, Oteil & The Peacemakers, Robert Randolph, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Keller Williams, Disco Biscuits, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Andrew Bird, and more!

WelcomeToTheMachine 03-07-2006 03:03 PM

Moody Blues are good.

Anybody have Sublime - Sublime? i tried downloading but the files were corrupt.

So today my band recorded a run through of Roundabout, if i can get it on my CP ill upload it for you guys.

Oh man that lineup looks pretty sweet. Worth it for Randolph and Mule alone. But it has the same problem as Bonaroo. Kansas isn't very easy to get to from NY:(

When I'm in college, I'm going to spend my summers going to concerts. That'd be sweet. Rent a Volkswagon hippie van and travel the country following bands around. I wish I was around for the sixties:(

And today in my music class, somebody brought in the original vinyl for Woodstock. It was a fun class. The great thing about the vinyls that you don't get on the cds is the stage announcements. Some of them were hilarious.

I can probably go to see that. My aunt lives pretty close to there, and me, my brother and his friends have driven out that way.

Kansas > most of the Midwest

Broken Arrow 03-07-2006 03:46 PM

So I got suspended from school from a couple days for fighting. Bad thing was I didn't do anything besides get attcaked by this other kid. It also sucked because it was an in school suspension so I had to spend like 9 hours in the resource room staring at this stupid white board.

I did listen to some great albums today while finishing it up.

Revlover
Doolittle
Wish You Were Here
12 Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus
Disraeli Gears
After the Goldrush
Rubber Soul
Californication

plus a few hours of silence.

robo2448 03-07-2006 04:03 PM

Badmoon that's pretty sweet. Jealousy +++

Livewired, that kind of sucks but you did listen to some sweet cds. And if it makes you feel any better, today in my music class, we were talking about CSNY for a little bit and my teacher said Neil had spawned more good music than anyone.

np: Albert King- Blues Power

Albert King has such a great blues tone.

It amazes me how some of you do not grow tired of some albums or bands. Like Pink Floyd or Cream. I definitely cannot listen to Disraeli Gears and Cream or especially Wish You Were Here and Pink Floyd without getting so bored or annoyed because I've heard them so much.

I wish I could afford music festivals :( I'd love to see Robert Randolph.

Today I picked up At Folsom Prison and On An Island.

roboEDIT: Haven't listened yet.

robo2448 03-07-2006 04:36 PM

I don't think I'll ever grow tired of listening to those albums. They're just albums I love and I can listen to them over and over again and not get tired of them. And I mean, you don't even know that Livewired has been listening to them over and over again. I eventually get tired of albums sometimes because I've heard them so much and burned out on them, but I always come back to them because they're just special to me. I listened to Wheels of Fire for the first time in a long time yesterday and was just blown away. Taking a break from an album and then coming back to it can be a magical experience.

np: Albert King- Night Stomp

Edit- At Folsom Prison is great. Good pickup. How's On an Island (If you listened to it yet)?
Edit 2- Okay

Yeah, the only band that I've kept steady is the Dead. I listen to more bootlegs now though.

Albert King has good tone, but Otis Rush's tone>

BigTrav415 03-07-2006 04:50 PM

How is On An Island? Wait, don't tell me. I'll buy it myself, I know it can't be bad, so I'll just go in with an open mind.

I have the vinyl of Woodstock  Just nothing to play it on :(

I've never gotten in serious trouble at school, though sometimes I'm very, very tempted to do stuff. My new school is really lenient (sp?), so I'd just get yelled at. At my old school, kids would get ISS for no reason.

I wil never, ever, ever, ever get sick of Wish You Were Here.

I think it would be awesome to go to a music festival... Oh to be sixteen...

I love Rush now, I hadn't ever heard any of their stuff till someone sent out 2112, I love it. I plan to get some more, when I go to the CD store to get On An Island and some Gov't Mule.

JonG 03-07-2006 04:57 PM

Man, I hope I can go to Gov't Mule. I have no car, which is a set-back. The douchebags at my school don't know who it is. My dad is lazy, but he does like the music I do.

What's Bob Weirs obsession with under-age Mexican girls?

:p

In El Paso as well. :)

If 'moon reads this, who do you prefer in vocals. Jerry or Bobby?

Actually, anybody. I want to hear what you people like.

I really want to see these movies:
Taxi Driver
Requiem for a Dream
Miller's Crossing

PinkFreud 03-07-2006 05:36 PM

Now that I know you haven't seen the one at the top of your list, I can hate you. Bastard.

Seriously, one of the greatest movies ever. Really.

JonG 03-07-2006 05:38 PM

I saw it on I Love 1976 the other night, and it looked awesome. I love Deniro when he is psycho.

Taxi Driver is a great movie. It's my number one, tied with Fight Club.

Last night I also watched An American Werewolf in London. Have you guys seen it? It's vicious, but also really awesome.

JonG 03-07-2006 05:51 PM

Heh, that reminds me of Warren Zevon.

He's a funny guy.

That movie's good.

Scuba_Steve 03-07-2006 05:51 PM

I watched wedding crashers on the weekend.

I found it pretty good considering I was expecting it to suck.

Actually I get bored of tons of bands. I rarley listen to the Doors anymore altough I will soon, I just always take breaks from bands. Also Wish You Were Here is an album I cannot bore myself with, and the rest of the albums (besides Doolittle and Rubber Soul) I hadn't listened to in their entirety lately.

But yeah, I get tired with music but the classics are hard to get tired of. ;)

jpj 03-07-2006 05:52 PM

On the topic of movies, I just watched And Now for Something Completely Different, and oh my fucking God! I don't think I've ever laughed as hard as I did on the "Upper Class Twit of the Year" sketch

I like Bob and Jerry equally. It's just that their voices fit with different songs.

BigTrav415 03-07-2006 06:08 PM

Good, good... a fellow Python fan.

"How Not To Be Seen"

I like Bob's voice better from what I can tell.

Badmoon 03-07-2006 06:37 PM
Jerry or Bobby?
Jerry no doubt. Bob doesn't even come close.
Taxi Driver
Requiem for a Dream
Miller's Crossing
Taxi Driver:

I just sold it for money, but it's a great movie. DeNiro owns.

Requiem for a Dream:

Overrated if you ask me; interesting though.

Miller's Crossing:

One of the best mobster movies, and it's good to see a crime film focusing on the Irish syndicates in Boston. One of the best Coen movies too if you ask me, along with the Big Lebowski.

Scuba_Steve 03-07-2006 06:39 PM

so guys, guess who is going to see buddy guy in a couple of weeks?

me.

MBS 03-07-2006 06:39 PM

There's a video of the How Not To Been Seen sketch except done on Halo 2. It's pretty funny, I'll try to find it later.

PinkFreud 03-07-2006 06:41 PM

I too have gotten bored of bands. Death Cab For Cutie, Arctic Monkeys (already), Mahavishnu Orchestra, and others. I still listen to them on occasion but the first and last used to be among my favorite bands. Weird.

Edit: DDM, have a ball at that, man. He was unbelievable when I went to see him. Possibly my favorite concert thus far. Such a great showman who also happens to be amazing with a guitar.

Everybody on this planet has Woodstock on vinyl. Absolutely every single one of my friends has it.

Jer-bear and Bobby are both great, Weir's an awesome blues singer. It's hard to choose which is better because the thing I like most about the Dead is how their voices compliment each other.

And I just finished downloading everysingle episode of Monty Python's Flying Circus. The Mollusk sketch is the best one. (also Spam and Ministry of Silly Walks)

Easily.

See Taxi Driver immediately. Amazing film.

Miller's Crossing is pretty damn good, too. Coen brothers + gangster movie genre = awesome film.

I haven't seen Requiem, and I don't really plan to either :-/

I saw an awesome jacket on Sunday that looked like DeNiro's from Taxi Driver, too bad it was sixty dollars.

I think Jerry's a better Blues singer too. He seems much more convincing IMO.

PinkFreud 03-07-2006 07:26 PM

Requiem For A Dream is at least good enough to merit seeing it once. A tad overhyped though.

Scorcese is a master. I recently picked up the Raging Bull 2 disc special edition for 13 bucks.
