See, this is the kind of crap I miss out on with dial up. I actually thought you saw a Therapy? cover band that knew Jelle. :upset:

Jom 11-15-2005 07:52 PM

Jim's probably handing out larger avatars like candy, much like he was doing name changes a couple months ago. You might as well ask in his thread in Site if you want. It wouldn't be surprising if Axe IMed DBJ and asked for it, or somehow similar.

A band that used to be absolutely amazing, and one of my favorites, but then they changed their sound so drastically that they're just OK now, but that's my opinion really.

Their first album was really good Metalcore.

Their second album was just generally Heavy Metal with some Hardcore parts thrown in.

Their newest album is basically just stuff like Bat Country.

On the older albums their singer had a much cleaner, deeper voice, and he screamed incredibly well, but then he burst a blood vessel in the throat and his vocals greatly declined in quality :upset:.

Haha, I'm just being a dick, and holy ****, glad to hear the tornadoes didn't pwn your elitist ***.

EDIT: I just... acquired the new Taproot CD, it's a lot better than their older works... vocally, the music is good on all their albums though, it's more complex this album though.

EDIT: Last night he had to get off AIM so he could talk to the guys from his band on MSN, so maybe they had something planned for today?

The sky got dark in the morning for us. Nothing worse than that though.

Today I bought a thing that lets me play my MP3 player in my car :D No more dealing with CDs on the road.

Dr. Jake Destructo 11-15-2005 09:17 PM

Did you get a transmitter, Aaron? My friend has one of those. You just program your radio and the transmitter to the same frequency, and it picks up the signal. It's fairly low quality, but it works. I like Alpine now instal 1/8" jacks into their heads for mp3 player compatability. Good idea, methinks.

i am the robots 11-15-2005 09:17 PM

Dealing with CDs sucks in general though.

Oh, not sure if I informed you guys, but I found my iPod, and Aaron, it still works fine.

Someone do a bio on Akerfeldt for the freakin' poll! Everyone says how much they like him and how cool he is, but they can't elaborate a little for the sake of a measly competition? C'mon please!

Dr. Jake Destructo 11-15-2005 09:28 PM

I usually just keep one cd in my car at a time. I rarely drive any more due to my lack of money and my obsession with buying cds.

Quite the deadly combination, I'd say. :-/

Anyways, my truck is getting worked on right now. It needs a new muffler, it's needs to be timed, it needs some valvework, and I think there's a mouse nest in my air conditioning blower.

Yeah, it needed to be fixed.

Ian- No-one actually likes Opeth or Akerfeldt. It's all a sham. It's all been a sham to make you angry. Opeth doesn't even exist, man! You've been PUNK'D!

Ask in the Opeth thread dude.

There has to at least 29385234 in there that would write a bio in like 2 minutes.

OK:

Mikael Akerfeldt (put the A with the O over it later son!) was a member of the band Eruption with his good friend Anders Nordin, Nordin wanted him to sub for Opet's then bassist Johan, because he was an alchoholic, and so Mikael joined, the other members got pissed and quit. So he took over on vocals. On the first few albums Akerfeldt had a noticably raw talent, though his vocals weren't the most controlled, they just sounded right, plus his accent made his clean vocals sound just... grand. With the third Opeth release My Arms Your Hearse, Mikael took his rhaspy higher-ranged growl to a gutteral the gutteral roar he is known for today. With each release Akerfeldt's voice has become more controlled, and his grasp of english has truly increased.

Hay guys.

I just had the most fantastic blues ensemble rehearsal. Here's the story: our group has been without a drummer forever, so it's currently divided between our teacher (who's a guitar player) and our pianist to do it. But today, we're having rehearsal and it's going pretty good, and I see this dude hanging out in the hallway. I think he must be looking for someone, so I ask him if I can help him. He says he's just wanting to watch. Then, as we were arguing over who was gonna play drums on the next song, he says he's a drummer and offers. We say "sure, get on the set," and we're a little apprehensive because he's never played for us before, and so he might suck. So we start the first song and he's AMAZING! He gets the whole band amped and into performing, it literally got hot in the room because we were feeling the music so powerfully. So his name is Jerome and he works in our school's dance department, where he does percussion and music for performances. And now he might play with us! I'm psyched: now everybody in our ensemble is amazing! We're gonna slay the audience when we play.

In other news: Jom has repped me today. This is surely the first sign of the apocolypse, so please discuss how you will prepare for eternal judgement and possibly damnation before God, for the end is nigh.

(Thanks Jim. :) )

Lucas- Sounds like you guys will have a blast if the drummer works out for you. Did he just sit down and improv to what you guys were playing, or what?

Not good about the world ending and stuff. I'm going to pray that the message wasn't in size 7 yellow font. If it was, we're all dead for sure. :upset:

I have a zit forming on my eyebrow. It's extremely annoying because I have an extreme urge to pop it.

Damn you!!
I submit mine as well (it's in the Opeth thread, too):
Mikael Åkerfeldt was born on April 17, 1974, in Stockholm, Sweden. He is currently famously known as the lead vocalist and guitarist of Opeth. Mikael was the vocalist for Eruption, a death metal band which he formed in 1988. After Eruption died in 1990, He founded Opeth as a bassist, together with David Isberg on vocals. When David left Opeth, Mikael replaced him as a vocalist and also took guitar duties.

Among metal fans, Mikael is noted for his exceptionally strong, progressive-rock-influenced songwriting style, and his ability to sing very proficiently in both a melodic tone and a harsh growl. Certainly one of the best vocalists in metal today. His death growls on Blackwater Park were wonderfully done and very difficult to match, and his vocal performances on Damnation are enough to swoon even the angriest teenage girls."

I got most of it from Wikipedia, changed it around a little, and added a few sentences.
