Am I the only one who thinks 90's/00's Dylan is better than 60's/70's Dylan?
 Yea.

He had like 10 albums in 10 years that were amazing everything from the 60's by Dylan is good. How can you say that about that era of Dylan!? :amaze:

NP: Love & Theft
Yes. You probably are. Love and Theft is a pretty good album though :thumb:

I prefer Time Out of Mind to that though, brilliant album. Also, Oh Mercy, from 1989 is really incredible. Most of the Time is such a beautiful and emotional songs. One of my favorite Dylan songs.

Jacaranda 09-11-2005 11:41 AM

You have the oddest taste in music sometimes, Spat Out Plath.
Most of the Time is my favourite Dylan song :)

I'm not saying his early period is bad, I just think his most recent albums dwarf everything else. I love his voice now and I think lyrically, he's far darker which I love. Songs like Most Of The Time, Things Have Changed, Lonesome Day Blues, Not Dark Yet...

Goth Dylan \m/
Most of the Time is the first Dylan song that I ever heard. Off the High Fidelity soundtrack. Or at least the first Dylan song I can remember hearing. Amazing song. Time Out of Mind is a really dark album, but some of his early stuff is really dark too. I like his early stuff better, but some of his new stuff is really underrated. Some of his '80s stuff really, really sucks though, like Empire Burlesque. Fortunately, I don't own that album, but I heard it was awful, so I listened it for a laugh, and it truly is awful. Infidels really pwns though.

Your favorite band is GnR and you prefer 90s and 00s Dylan over 60s and 70s.

Has anyone attempted to read the inside booklet of Highway 61 Revisited? It's a bunch of gibbrish, I read while I was listening to the CD...it sort of made sense, I have to be under the influence of something to truly grasp its meaning.

angusmaster 09-11-2005 12:24 PM

Im downloadin mr tambourine man-bob dylan right now, and from what ive heard of it,i like his version better.

DeusExMachina 09-11-2005 12:36 PM

Wait, did someone cover Mr. Tambourine Man? I'm confused.

Jam2Me 09-11-2005 12:38 PM
Wait, did someone cover Mr. Tambourine Man? I'm confused.
Yeah The Byrds did.

DeusExMachina 09-11-2005 12:40 PM

Ahh. I've never heard any version other than Dylan's.

Glitterati 09-11-2005 12:44 PM
A lot of people think that song is about drugs. I'm really not sure what it's about, but this verse especially makes it seem like it could be about tripping:

Take me on a trip upon your magic swirlin' ship,
My senses have been stripped, my hands can't feel to grip,
My toes too numb to step, wait only for my boot heels
To be wanderin'.
I'm ready to go anywhere, I'm ready for to fade
Into my own parade, cast your dancing spell my way,
I promise to go under it.
Yeah, that was definitely during his dope-smoking days.
Am I the only one who thinks 90's/00's Dylan is better than 60's/70's Dylan?

NP: Love & Theft
I wouldn't go that far, but Love & Theft is pretty good.

I think The Byrds' cover is pretty great.

Thats the version i always grew up hearing,i didnt even know dylan wrote it or did it till today.

DeusExMachina 09-11-2005 01:01 PM

Well, Mr. Tambourine Man is my favorite Dylan song, so I'm not sure if I want to hear the Byrds version. I can't imagine anyone doing it better than Bob Dylan.

angusmaster 09-11-2005 01:12 PM

Yea,now that ive listened to dylan, its better than the byrds.

robo2448 09-11-2005 01:15 PM

I all of Dylan's originals are better than covers of his songs. I even like Dylan's All Along the Watchtower better. I'm a Dylan fanatic though, so it makes sense that I like all his originals better.

Broken Arrow 09-11-2005 01:17 PM

I think Jimi's is better, but thats just me.

jpj 09-11-2005 01:18 PM

Yea, I think Jimi's is way better.

robo2448 09-11-2005 01:19 PM
I think Jimi's is better, but thats just me.
Yea, I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who likes the original better. Jimi's version is my favorite Hendrix song though.

DeusExMachina 09-11-2005 01:22 PM

Jimi's version of All Along the Watchtower is way better, in my opinion. In Dylan's opinion too, if I'm not mistaken.

Little Wing > All Along the Watchtower, though.

angusmaster 09-11-2005 01:24 PM

Yeah, I think Dylan told Hendrix that his version was the way it was meant to be.

robo2448 09-11-2005 01:30 PM
Yeah, I think Dylan told Hendrix that his version was the way it was meant to be.
He did.

DeusExMachina 09-11-2005 01:33 PM
I love Little Wing. Probably my 2nd favorite Hendrix song. Clapton does a good rendition of it in his 1973 Rainbow Concert.
I don't think I've heard that version. But I really don't like the Derek and the Dominoes version. I thought it was pretty bad. SRV's Little Wing/3rd Stone from the Sun medley is incredibly.

I have, somewhere, a Hendrix tribute album, and this orchestra performs Little Wing. It's incredible.

SRV's version is amazing. That tribute album sounds awesome. String tribute albums are cool.

angusmaster 09-11-2005 01:36 PM

What was the other big dylan song that someone redone,i cant think of what it was,but i know it was the only song my dad liked of dylan.

Edit:I also like SRV's version of Voodoo Chile, although i like Jimis better.

PinkFreud 09-11-2005 01:37 PM

have you guys heard the song "loan me a dime" by boz scaggs and duane allman? its really awesome.

Covered by who? There are a lot of Dylan cover songs. Like a Rolling Stone maybe?

robo2448 09-11-2005 01:38 PM
Covered by who? There are a lot of Dylan cover songs. Like a Rolling Stone maybe?
I'm pretty sure that Dylan is the most covered artist ever.

Lunch 09-11-2005 01:43 PM

Knockin' On Heaven's Door maybe?

In other news I just came into posession of The Who Live at the Isle of Wight (CD), and let me just say that it sounds the way it's supposed to sound. It doesn't have the crappy quality of the Dvd sound.

angusmaster 09-11-2005 01:47 PM

I dont know,it was one of Dylans biggest, but i cant think of who covered it,if i heard the name of the song,i woud know it.
