jesus. ****ing. christ.
i cant keep up with this ****, so this will be my last post in this thread. back to GnR, Rolling Stone magazine classed them as classic rock, surely that means somthing. They voted Appetite as the best clasic rock guitar recording of all time... that album is classic rock, after that, modern rock.
If they vote Appetite as the best Classic Rock record that automaticly makes them an un-worthy source to say the least. They also put Jeff Beck behind Cobain in the "100 greatest guitarist list" which is unspeakable. Rolling Stone is a worthless un-credible magazine that should be destroyed at all costs. |
I like Appetite, but for the best classic rock album, then no. And a lot of better guitarists were put behind Kurt Cobain... I never buy Rolling Stone magazines.
|
Yeah, Thickasabrick I also found it impossible to sing in key although I dont have a good voice in the first place. I also got two of my friends to try but they also failed. I think the only way I can get right is if I run into Paul Mcartney in the near future and bring him over to do the vocals.

Eh? What's this? The Who are awesome, I love Tommy. Unfortunately, I don't have many of their albums. Rolling Stone Magazine put Cobain as like, the 13th best guitarist of all time. Ridiculous. |

Just in time before I leave, enjoy! Be sure to listen to Willie the Pimp. hxxp://s23.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=24FAYYYD5MZRO25HSHTSBL46W1
Thanks, I'll get Freak Out up later today. I notice we barely ever discuss Van Halen. Sometimes cheezy arena rock is fun.
woot, classic rock!! does anyone like the who? i LOVE the who! best classic rock band i reckon forgive me for not reading 45 000 posts before posting
Forgiven. And The Who are pretty well like around here. I'm a fan myself. |
Yea, the Who are pretty good...
Are allowed to use YSI in small amounts still, such as uploading an album in this thread? There's a reason we never talk about Van Halen. We, excluding RNR. |
Isn't that the same thing?
When I was a n00b I'd just make stupid posts, and I'm sure I made a reference to the first post and talked about how "all the kids at my school don't even really like it lolol". Then when I became a CR elitist, I stopped talking about the first post stuff, and started typing with good grammar and all that, but I still flamed n00bs often and thought I was better than everyone else in here. (Except for the other CR regs at the time, who I'm sure acted the same way at one point) |
Are allowed to use YSI in small amounts still, such as uploading an album in this thread?
Yeah, but they don't want full-on threads about trading. |

Queen is definitely considered hard rock and classic rock. I think they're pretty good. An example of good stadium rock. |

Yea, Queen is definitely CR. I think everyone here likes them. I think I'm the only one here who doesn't have anything by them. I like the 5 songs I've heard on the radio. I need to buy some Queen. edit- beat :( |

Yeah, and they put Joan Jett on that list, but not Alex Lifeson.
woot, classic rock!! does anyone like the who? i LOVE the who! best classic rock band i reckon forgive me for not reading 45 000 posts before posting
I love the Who, they're my favorite band after Pink Floyd. |
Oops. I think I broke the rules yesterday.

Does it seem that Dylan was tripping when he wrote "Mr Tambourine" or is that just me? I mean listin to the lyrics:
Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me, I'm not sleepy and there is no place I'm going to. Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me, In the jingle jangle morning I'll come followin' you. Though I know that evenin's empire has returned into sand, Vanished from my hand, Left me blindly here to stand but still not sleeping. My weariness amazes me, I'm branded on my feet, I have no one to meet And the ancient empty street's too dead for dreaming. Take me on a trip upon your magic swirlin' ship, My senses have been stripped, my hands can't feel to grip, My toes too numb to step, wait only for my boot heels To be wanderin'. I'm ready to go anywhere, I'm ready for to fade Into my own parade, cast your dancing spell my way, I promise to go under it. Though you might hear laughin', spinnin', swingin' madly across the sun, It's not aimed at anyone, it's just escapin' on the run And but for the sky there are no fences facin'. And if you hear vague traces of skippin' reels of rhyme To your tambourine in time, it's just a ragged clown behind, I wouldn't pay it any mind, it's just a shadow you're Seein' that he's chasing. Then take me disappearin' through the smoke rings of my mind, Down the foggy ruins of time, far past the frozen leaves, The haunted, frightened trees, out to the windy beach, Far from the twisted reach of crazy sorrow. Yes, to dance beneath the diamond sky with one hand waving free, Silhouetted by the sea, circled by the circus sands, With all memory and fate driven deep beneath the waves, Let me forget about today until tomorrow. |
A lot of people think that song is about drugs. I'm really not sure what it's about, but this verse especially makes it seem like it could be about tripping:
Take me on a trip upon your magic swirlin' ship, My senses have been stripped, my hands can't feel to grip, My toes too numb to step, wait only for my boot heels To be wanderin'. I'm ready to go anywhere, I'm ready for to fade Into my own parade, cast your dancing spell my way, I promise to go under it. |

Oh, snap. And just to pound the nail in the coffin further Rolling Stone also put Jack White ahead of George Harrison and Pete Townshend. No matter what you say that guy isn't as good as either of them, plus he's an ass. |
Woah,i didnt know dylan did mr. tambourine man,and yea,he was probably high or something when he wrote it.
Edit:There is no way jack white is a better guitar player than pete townsend. |

He had to be on some sort of psychedelic.
Woah,i didnt know dylan did mr. tambourine man,and yea,he was probably high or something when he wrote it.
That's too bad it's way better than the Byrds version. :( You should download it. :thumb: |
I like Bob Dylan's version more. It's more pleasing to the ear.

Edit:There is no way jack white is a better guitar player than pete townsend.
You need to get into Dylan, my friend. I think Blood on the Tracks is Dylan's best cd, but Highway 61 is probably the best cd to buy first. It seems to be the easiest for people new to Dylan to get into. If you like that, then I'll have some more Dylan to recommend to you. Don't get me started on the Rolling Stone list unless you want to hear a long rant  The list blows. |

Me too. For some reason everyone else I know likes the byrds version better though. |
It's because it's electric probably. Eventhough it's only clean tone. Acoustic>clean electric.

We can still request albums in this thread and just give the person the link over AIM or e-mail. |

I can see how it could be about drugs, though. I like the Dylan version more, as well. Its a lot more soothing. I'm actually just not much a Byrds fan. |
