Hi...

Jim Hull 10-13-2006 08:18 AM

Hello?

lemoley 10-13-2006 08:18 AM

hey blizz

hows it going?

blizzard 10-13-2006 08:26 AM

Meh alright... I just watched the Recruit and am feeling thoroughly unsatisfied by it. I also had a concert at school tonight which turned out to be really dodgy.

lemoley 10-13-2006 08:28 AM

hey jim, hows you?

dodgy? do go on

blizzard 10-13-2006 08:32 AM

Well it was an "music extension" concert where the music extension students get up and perform about 15 minutes of solo work each. Then they must perform 10 minutes in an ensemble. We had four students who were to perform tonight... now two of them had already done their 10 minute ensemble work so there was to be the 4 solos and two ensembles (the school Orchestra and Wind Orchestra). One of the performers pulled out at like the last minute and so we only had 3 solos and the school orchestra playing and the concert lasted about an hour in total and was really unfulfilling.

lemoley 10-13-2006 08:33 AM

oh too bad man, what did you play?

blizzard 10-13-2006 08:40 AM
oh too bad man, what did you play?
I was playing double bass we played two songs... William Tell Overture and A Salute to The Big Apple (a meddley of songs about New York, very cool and jazzy).

lemoley 10-13-2006 08:41 AM

thats awesome man, you play well?

blizzard 10-13-2006 08:42 AM
thats awesome man, you play well?
Yeah, I played pretty good. My double bass skills aren't that good and it was the first time I had played in a while and I killed my finger pizzing. How are you?

lemoley 10-13-2006 08:46 AM

oh well, at least it wasn't a total disaster then :)

Thats great.

I have my own rockband outside of the school. Unfortunately we don't play together as much as we should. But hopefully we will start now because we've been asked to play at a party in about 8 weeks... My whole band graduates school in about 6 weeks so there should be no excuse not to be ready.

I also used to play in a jazz band outside of school, which was the most fun I've had playing. We would just play at a restaurant each week, never rehearse anything, the band line up changed almost weekly and everything was improve and spontaneous it was great. Everyone played with their emotions into it, if someone did a good solo they would get another chorus, everynow and then the band would just randomly jump to double time if it was a slower song. I loved it because it was always interesting. However we no longer play at that restaurant anymore.

lemoley 10-13-2006 08:54 AM

wow, that sounds like it was freaking awesome dude :thumb:

Spaceman Spiff 10-13-2006 10:53 AM

Friday the 13th today.

Rollo47 10-13-2006 11:08 AM

Hah, Friday the 13th is two minutes from being over for me.

Spaceman Spiff 10-13-2006 11:14 AM

Mine is only half way over.

Crazy Australians... :p

I think... I'm getting drunk and high tonight. :D
Seems like a pretty good way to spend Friday the 13th.

Rollo47 10-13-2006 11:17 AM

Nice. I wish I had the money to be doing that.

Ah well, I'm playing at a party tomorrow night, and get free beer for doing so. Plus Sambuca that my lady friend is going to bring.

Spaceman Spiff 10-13-2006 11:25 AM

That's cool.

I get to see one of my friends this weekend that I only see every few weeks because he lives in another city where he goes to university, but he comes back every few weeks because it's not very far; it's only about an hour by bus.

So, yeah, seeing him, and my other friends who are still around, is cause for the celebration that will take place tonight. :D

Celebration = Drug Abuse

Rollo47 10-13-2006 11:35 AM

Cool stuff. I don't get to smoke much weed nowadays (my girlfriend is quite against it), but when I do, I go pretty hard. For a non-smoker, I'm surprisingly good at smoking.

Spaceman Spiff 10-13-2006 11:45 AM

That's too bad... though I still haven't figured out why people can be so against it.

I cut down huge since school started again. I was getting high pretty much every day in the summer, but then school started, now I pretty much only smoke on weekends.

I'm good at quitting, I guess. I could stop entirely if I wanted to, but I know what I like about it, and it doesn't really cause me any troubles, so I see no point in fully quitting.

Rollo47 10-13-2006 11:54 AM

Yeah, I don't get why people are so against it either. I'm against smoking lots, and completely understand where my girlfriend is coming from, which is why I don't kick up more of a fuss about it than I do. It's never been a problem for me, though, and never will be.

thelowsoundofbass 10-13-2006 12:14 PM

I quite back in the summer.
