superpeer 05-01-2005 04:02 PM

What's flare?

EDIT : Eh, beaten to it, somehow. :-/

LarsAgi007 05-01-2005 04:03 PM

Good evening my MX amigos!!!
I have just got back from a fairground that has arrived in our town.. Its really good, I got kinda hooked on the 2p machines though
I accually left the fairground 3 hours ago, But i couldn't resist going for a few pints before I made my way home lol. I accually saw two of my collegues from work there also, so i wasn't all on my own. (Had the misses their of course)!
So, Has anyone been up to anything this evening??

P.S I have Toffee Apples!!!! lol

Permanent Solution 05-01-2005 04:05 PM

Flare=buttons I think. Working at resturants seems meh, as i worked in food service until I was moved to cashier. Hope you like it better Jum.

LarsAgi007 05-01-2005 04:07 PM

I Stock up Fruit and veg all day... Its not too bad, Better than being stuck on checkouts all day i guess... I just cannot stand being in one place for 11 hours flat, I much prefer active work..

Most of the time I walk around and face. It's a small store. Being busy time flies though.
I just found out my ex-girlfriend is engaged. This is a such a stange feeling.
Well, one of my ex-girlfriends (the last girlfriend I had in high school, to be exact) is, from what I've heard, the easiest girl at her university, which I guess is kind of weird.
What is flare?
They're buttons/pins/badges that workers in family-themed restaraunts wear.

What ATM was going for, I think, was that in the movie Office Space, Jennifer Aniston's character works at a TGIFriday's-type place and her boss calls them "pieces of flare".

Dancin' Man 05-01-2005 04:22 PM

Ahhh. I don't like that movie very much.

Who wants a picture of me and my siblings?''
I just found out my ex-girlfriend is engaged. This is a such a stange feeling.
I get that. Last year, I found out my ex-girlfriend was not only engaged, but she was also pregnant. The reason this was a real shock is because she has a weak heart, and excessive stress to her body causes complications. Birthing a child could mark the end of her own life.

I don't even know if she's still alive. Her fiancee wouldn't let her call me anymore after the last time when I found out about the pregnancy and what not.

LarsAgi007 05-01-2005 04:29 PM

Dude, Sounds very complicated!!! He seems pretty controlling, he won't let her ring you!! I would go round there and beat the living daylights outta him!!!

EDIT: Sorry I just had a moment of immaturity

that's kinda random...

Jom 05-01-2005 04:41 PM

/very late again, perhaps

Flare is an Office Space reference.

The gay guy at Chochkie's wore something like 57 pieces of flare, while Jennifer Aniston's character only wore 15. Mike Judge, her boss, was like, "Joanna [Aniston's character], Brian [gay guy, HUGE asskisser in the film] is wearing 57 pieces of flare, and you're wearing 15. 15 is our minimum... and if you think that the minimum the best you can do, well, that's fine, but I want you to be more like Brian."

Lunch: Yep, we have a mascot. Usually the women are the mascot since you have to wear yellow tights... but, you know, if that's the kind of thing that floats a guy's boat, then let him set sail.

/will edit if I missed anything

EDIT: Ray once again simplified what I said before I got the chance to type it :-\

I just felt like changing the subject. I don't like talking about that particular ex, as it kind of depresses me.

Excellent (cover of a) song, in my opinion. And if anyone can tell me who Imogen Heape is, I'd be grateful.

lunch998 05-01-2005 05:18 PM

I really like the Cream version too.

Bartender 05-01-2005 05:20 PM

I prefer the vocals (and the technofied nature of the song/album in general) in this version, I think. But then, I don't think I've heard a really bad version of Rollin' and Tumblin' yet. It seems no wrong can be done with it.

I've heard some kind of country take on it which was actually decent.

I like Cream's version because it's so raw and messy (the vocals), it just fits Fresh Cream perfectly.
Your sister is hot ;)
My friends tell me that whenever they see her. That is rare though because she's 25 and lives in Germany. She hasn't lived at home since she was 16.
My brother is generally a retarded asshole with a bad hair cut.
I kind of figured that was your brother, given the way you explained* him.

I'm also proud that I restrained myself from making "Your mom's so hot"/"Your sister's so hot" jokes.

So anyway, my gf is leaving for Spain on July 2nd :(

* - bitched about

EDIT: And now that I think about it, who the hell was taking a picture of your mom taking a picture of you three? That's kind of creepy.

Dancin' Man 05-01-2005 05:26 PM

My sister will live in spain next year which means spring break in Madrid.

I'm sorry I bitch about him so often but he is so difficult to live with.

My dad does this annoying thing where he takes pictures when other people are form a slightly different angle and everyone gets confused as to where they should be looking.

What's Madrid like? I've never been.

I wasn't hassling you about bitching about him, I'd probably bitch about him too.

And I don't mean to be all self-pitying and such, but that makes me miss my dad even more.

I've not yet either. She likes it but I think she prefers Barcelona.

I know, I was just making a general apology.

I don't know how to make a tactful response to this without sounding overly sappy towards a topic I know little about (loss of someone close. Old people, grandparents don't count as they are supposed to die at some point).

Why is your sister touring Europe, anyhow? Dang rich kids who want to "find themselves" >_> Just kidding, but I am curious.

I know, sometimes I don't even know how to respond to it sometimes. Sometimes I feel like the only thing that will make me truly happy would be to have him back, and obviously that can't happen. I never really knew what it was like to grow up with a dad--my stepdad is good, but it's not the same especially because I had my dad for six years.

She's on a Fulbright right now and since she'll already be in Europe, she'll live with her boyfriend in Spain and find some job. She's fluent in Spanish and has her masters in cello performance so she might try to find a job in an orchestra or something. Right now, on her Fulbright, she's teaching English in a German gymnasium.

Isis suck. What I've heard of Mare (one song) is pretty good though, and I tend to like the slow-and-heavy-yet-not-doom approach.

(edit button)

And in true lead-by-example fashion; EDIT:

Eleventeen - At least that's a pretty good age, I suppose. Your dog dying is always bad though, even if they have lived plenty.

Ramsey 05-01-2005 07:08 PM

Hey has anyone heard Alarum? *looks at Bartender*

I just heard a couple songs and I was blown away..

Dancin' Man 05-01-2005 07:08 PM

Was that directed at me? I think when the posts are 45 minutes apart, they don't need to be edited into one in a thread as busy as this. Isis are awesome.

Bartender 05-01-2005 07:10 PM

Yeah I know. It applied to Eleventeen too, though.

EDIT: and they do suck.
Hey has anyone heard Alarum? *looks at Bartender*

Yeah, they're pretty good. Probably the closest thing to Atheist and Cynic since Atheist and Cynic. Finding releases by them proves difficult though.
