The Anthology would be the best of them, but it's expensive. Like $50. Worth it though.

Britton 01-29-2006 07:47 PM

Okay. I don't know much about their lifes other then the music. And they are very inresting guys.

bcf (the resident Beatles' know-it-all :p) highly reccomends the new one out that's simply titled "The Beatles". I don't know who it's by, though.

I second this, an essential for any Beatles fan.

Anthology is a must have for everybody...to me it is THE definitive Beatle book/biography

Leper 01-30-2006 12:13 AM

I'm about half way through Anthology and enjoying immensely. I'd recommend getting that one for sure.

El_Goodo 01-30-2006 01:07 AM

The anthology is a bitch to read! But it's a very enjoyable bitch...possibly the heaviest/biggest book I've ever had in my posession.

Leper 01-30-2006 01:23 AM

You just mean length-wise right? 'Cause comprehension-wise it's very easy to read.

El_Goodo 01-30-2006 02:32 AM
You just mean length-wise right? 'Cause comprehension-wise it's very easy to read.
Yes length-wise! But I am a pretty lazy reader, I got it then read a few pages, then about a month later during my summer holidays from school I would read it when I was bored at like 12:00 Am, and I got lots of pages done at those hours. Then I went on holidays and brought it with me and finished it on the 5 hour drive.

JustKillingTime 01-30-2006 11:22 AM

I really enjoy Eleanor Rigby, Help! and She Loves You..Oh, Ticket to Ride too..
I really enjoy Eleanor Rigby, Help! and She Loves You..Oh, Ticket to Ride too..
I was just listening to Eleanor Rigby.

Does anyone here prefer the Beatles earlier albums to their later albums?

n00bguitarist 01-30-2006 12:35 PM
I was just listening to Eleanor Rigby.

Does anyone here prefer the Beatles earlier albums to their later albums?
I don't prefer their extremely early stuff (1st album, 2nd album, etc). I prefer Rubber Soul and onward. But once and a while I'll listen to their really early stuff.

Britton 01-30-2006 12:40 PM

I really like the later stuff more...even though it's a little trippy

El_Goodo 01-30-2006 12:56 PM

I like both stuff equally, some of there early songs are awesome like You Can't Do That, Not A Second Time, Should Have Known Better, there so catchy you can't help but love them.

DeusExMachina 01-30-2006 02:33 PM
I really like the later stuff more...even though it's a little trippy
Almost everyone here prefers the later stuff. Although very few discount the early stuff entirely.

TheGoat 01-30-2006 02:42 PM

I love both equally. But I hear a bit more the early stuff and also i know more songs of the early stuff.

rockinbass17 01-30-2006 03:44 PM

Currently I am really enjoying thier middle period (Help!-Revolver) in particular.
Their singles from this time were pretty sweet, too.

MBS 01-30-2006 05:42 PM

A Hard Day's Night is a good album, and that doesn't seem to get much discussion around here other than "I Should Have Known Better". Favorite tracks from AHDN?

Incense and Peppermints 01-30-2006 05:43 PM

I wasn't aware of any albums pre-Revolver. And I'd like to keep it that way :P

Well that's because I Should Have Known Better is a fucking sweet song. That's my favorite from that album. My other favorites are If I Fell, A Hard Day's Night, And I Love Her, and Can't Buy Me Love.

Everybody watch those videos, awesome stuff. I think I'll watch them again now.

Incense and Peppermints 01-30-2006 05:58 PM

Nope.
We have a lot to talk about.
I have nothing to say to you.

I'm waiting for these videos to load, what are they? Beatles videos or something else? It says "by Melon" so I dunno what to expect.

Oh, how... odd....

BigTrav415 01-30-2006 06:00 PM

Melon is officially my favorite human being after seeing those videos. Trust me, they're awesome. Just watch, I showed them to either robo or magicbus on AIM a while back and they said they were awesome too.

Yeah I got them from you awhile back. They are indeed awesome. I just watched the Come Together video again. This time, I'm saving these links.

Incense and Peppermints 01-30-2006 06:04 PM

Oh wow, the I Feel Fine and Tomorrow Never Knows videos are great, Come Together was meh...

"If i fell" for me. Amazing vocals by Paul and John. "And i love her" is really good. Another song that proves Paul was or still is an amazing vocalist.

Seafroggys 01-31-2006 12:09 AM

I read through the Anthology sooo fast. It doesn't matter if your a lazy reader or not, your love of the Beatles should be enough to fly through that book.

(read it in Middle School, about five years ago)

"And I Love Her" is an amazing song, and of course "I Should Have Known Better." IMO Help is the much better album.

Leper 01-31-2006 12:35 AM
I really like the later stuff more...even though it's a little trippy
Is that a bad thing?

El_Goodo 02-01-2006 12:11 AM

There are too many amazing songs from both the early and late Beatles albums, to pick a better era, it's hard enough to pick favourite song's. Suprisingly I think my top two favourite song's are from the one album that is not considered with no argument great, let it be. Those two songs are Don't Let Me Down, and Across The Universe.

Leper 02-01-2006 12:20 AM

...is Don't Let Me Down on Let it Be...Naked? Because it's not on the original album..

Seafroggys 02-01-2006 02:33 AM

that is correct if I remember correctly. I own Naked but not the original.

clown_phobia 02-01-2006 03:18 AM

Don't let me down was the B-side of the get back single, I think

Magical_Mystery_Tour 02-01-2006 06:17 PM

Man my radio station was doing an A-B side Beatles weekend, and it was pretty sweet. It was cool to see what songs were A sides and which were B. Heres a question for you all. Without searching it anywhere, what is the B side to Lady Madonna? I would never have guessed what it actually was.

gmoneyguy 02-01-2006 06:22 PM

Beats the hell outta me.
