Yeah but you still missed Learning to Live, Spirit Carries On, ITNOG, The Mirror, Lie...:p

Lord Abortion 01-15-2006 07:04 PM

Anyone else think James should scream again like on I&W live?

temporary 01-15-2006 08:40 PM
Apparently the album they covered was.... Deep Purple - Made in Japan (the live album):

Highway Star
Child In Time
Smoke On The Water
The Mule
Strange kind Of Woman
Lazy
Space Truckin'

Very cool if you ask me, I can't wait to hear it, especially hearing LaBrie sing Child in Time.
That sounds unbelievably awesome. If LaBrie can sing Child in Time, he'll earn my constant praise. I wonder if they extended Space Truckin' as much as on Made in Japan.

Mine have all been deleted off of my Ipod along with everything else, so im trying to rebuild. If so, add me to MSN at id_rather-not@hotmail.com please. Thanks

^ im looking for WDADU still.
march 3-10...somewhere in then has to be phoenix, geographically speaking.
not much of a time window though ><

is it weird that im stressed more about these tour dates than say...scholarship apps, school etc? haha

Screamin_Demon_Auz 01-16-2006 12:07 AM

Im really wanting to do a Dream Theater cover to put on my free EP which im making of some cover songs using backing tracks and on the Idol Underground site which is a pretty cool thing with contests and an online radio (its $25 per song to post though). No one in my band is really quite at the level of playing DT stuff yet so I was hoping maybe some of you could help me out. I'm looking at covering either These Walls, I walk beside you, Through Her Eyes, Strange Deja Vu, or Voices. Can any of you record any or all of the parts to these songs for me to use? I would try some of these for myself but my playings definently not good enough so I was hoping some of you could help out.

I know

I should've gone to half of each.

I can't really help you out while I'm at uni, but I Walk Beside You is a pretty simple song to play, you shouldn't have much trouble doing that.

Lord Abortion 01-16-2006 10:10 AM

I got WDADU today!

Still live albums to come.

I'm ripping it the noo

Do the Silent Man.

Lord Abortion 01-16-2006 10:20 AM

Unless you can't sing, then don't ruin one of my favourite songs.

Triangle 01-16-2006 11:51 AM

Yeah, any DT cover need an above average singer.

Jev 01-16-2006 12:07 PM
Unless you can't sing, then don't ruin one of my favourite songs.
/plans to ruin Silent man by using distorted guitar and band's crappy singer.

I'd really like to do that one but the bass I believe was a 6 string part and I wouldn't know how to do it if you even can on a 4 string plus im not really good enough at anything to be willing to record it; especially drums.

I can sing a lot of Dream Theater stuff fine. Labrie is one of my favorites. If you want an example of my voice, go to ajenkz.dmusic.com Its not perfect but it gives a good idea of how I sound, especially under the circumstances (recorded entirely in less than an hour on a day with pretty much no sleep and a very tired voice from school.)

I might end up doing Through Her Eyes but I need to figure out how to get the drums. Could anyone help with anything on that song?

There are programs available that let you program drums, or the easiest option would be to import them in from a Guitar Pro tab (if you have Guitar Pro). You're probably better of asking in one of the instrument forums for more info on this.
You only need a 4 string bass for the song as well.

HNLzero 01-16-2006 05:05 PM

I would sell my soul to see them play Learning To Live.

nowitzki 01-16-2006 05:07 PM

I have to say that is the greatest song I have ever seen anyone perform live. It was like a musical orgasm.

I wish I saw that. Did they play that on Gigantour?

HNLzero 01-16-2006 05:21 PM

Does anyone know when the Boston DT tickets go on sale? I'd be sad if I lived near NY because the Radio City Music hall tickets seem to be unavalible for now and that show is going to be on DVD.

Thanks for the help man. I'll try out some Guitar Pro tracks. That will probably work for piano too

What do you mean unavailible. Are they sold out or didnt even go on sale yet?

HNLzero 01-16-2006 05:28 PM

They're on sale, but when I went on ticketmaster just to see if could get any single ticket, it said it was unavalible.

nowitzki 01-16-2006 05:28 PM

I'm guessing they're sold out seeing as its the one thats being filmed.

GenuineImitation 01-16-2006 05:30 PM

I guess it would make sense considering they are from New York. Can i have a link to the tour dates?

HNLzero 01-16-2006 05:33 PM

http://www.dreamtheater.net/tourdates.php#ustour2006

The taping was announced a little bit before Christmas so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

nowitzki 01-16-2006 05:33 PM

EDIT: beaten to it

GenuineImitation 01-16-2006 05:36 PM

Damn. My parents wont let me go to Boston alone and I doubt they would take me. I guess I'll hang outside of Radio City hoping to find some guy scalping tickets.

First I miss them on Gigantour and now this.

nowitzki 01-16-2006 05:40 PM

If you do, I'd be prepered to pay a lot. Tickets for a show like that won't come cheap.

Lord Abortion 01-16-2006 06:04 PM

Can you not find a friend to go with you?

my I&W live should be comin soon...*peers out through door hole thing*

heavy metal kid 01-16-2006 06:43 PM

Maybe this is old news, but Dream Theater is covering another album, this time it's Deep Purple's "Made in Japan".

Screamin_Demon_Auz 01-16-2006 06:53 PM

Alright im doing Through My Words/Through Her Eyes from SFAM. I checked the drums on Guitar Pro for through her eyes and they sound pretty bad. I downloaded BeatCraft Trial version and its pretty confusing to me. Can anyone explain what to program into it for this song, or can anyone who is good at programming drums program it for me? I've got everything else taken care of but the drums for it and i'd like to get it done pretty soon to put on Idol Underground

GenuineImitation 01-16-2006 06:55 PM

Has anyone heard of cheappricedtickets.com?

I just bought DT tickets from them. Im so happy. Too bad none of my friends like DT (the music is too sophisticated for them). I'll just go with my dad who I got into DT.

The tickets have been confirmed about an hour later. Maybe I'll be on the DVD.

2 Straight hours of DT. It even had an intermission. \m/
