You will need Winrar to unzip these 2 files (you can get it off www.download.com)

you need to download BOTH files and make sure they are in the same place, start with part1 it will then automatically unzip part2, and will form 1 big huge 1.3gig file.

Enjoy
SWEET! Thanks a ton.

HeavyRiva: Great job on WYWH.

Oh, crud! Winrar is a Windows only program. Do you know of a Mac equivalent?

Riva 07-28-2005 04:58 PM

Heh, I'd love to do a cover song(s) also. Also, just updated the first post, if you guys want to have another look. :)

Also, get cracking on those Animals songs!

Pigs (Three Different Ones) and Sheep are still up for grabs.

DeusExMachina 07-28-2005 05:14 PM

I'd love to cover Hey You or Time, if people are up with those. I know the guitar for Time, and know parts of Hey You. I'm sure I could learn the rest pretty easily.

By the way, WheepingGuitar39, you are my hero. The video is awesome.

As moaner said, they haven't yet played anywhere in this decade with the original members. You might have heard of either Beyond The Darkside or the Australian Pink Floyd Experience, both of which are PF tribute bands from Australia. :D

DeusExMachina 07-28-2005 05:37 PM

So, I finally got around to actually watching that video WheepingGuitar put up, as opposed to just listening to it, and the quality is pretty good. However, am I the only one bothered by a) the second drummer that isn't Nick Mason, and b) the guitarist that is not David Gilmour who's playing lead, and doing solos?

Lunch 07-28-2005 07:22 PM

Riva - Pigs on the Wing (Parts 1 &2)
Med - Dogs

I, as usual, will not particpate, rather I will post this and just act important.

zetabossio 07-28-2005 07:31 PM

I have always been here
I have always looked out from behind the eyes
It feels like more than a lifetime
Feels like more than a lifetime

Sometimes I get tired of the waiting
Sometimes I get tired of being in here
Is this the way it has always been?
Could it ever have been different?

Do you ever get tired of the waiting?
Do you ever get tired of being in there?
Don't worry, nobody lives forever,
Nobody lives forever

do you know this one . i know its a crazy song but i think its really deep.

yes i actually am bothered by that
when i listened to the last part of the brick in the wall solo on my Pulse Album
for like 5 years i kept saying
holy hell gilmour is amazing on that
and i was like ... WHAT THE....
THATS NOT GILMOUR!!! when i saw the video
but oh well
and the 2nd drummer bothers me abit but he's more percussions and weird suonds
there's also a 2nd keyboardists if you didnt notice lol

Purple Floyd 07-28-2005 08:11 PM

Who is that other guitarist? I've been trying to figure it out for ages.

His solo on ABITW was even better than Daves in my opinion.

I saw australian pink floyd at a huge hockey arena, i was impressed by them
but then i saw Canadian pink floyd at a bar..
canadian pink floyd DESTROYED australian pink floyd
canadian pink floyd played ALL of Dark side, Wish you were here, Animals, The Wall and did a couple of other songs. (Astronomy Domine.. and some more recent ones too)
The guitarist was amazing.

Beyond the Darkside, the other Aussie floyd tribute, were amazing also. They played all of DSotM and WYWH, most of Animals and the Wall, and did songs from PATGOD, MLOR, Div Bell, and Obscured By Clouds. They didn't have any More though. :(

The saxophonist was female, so she didn't have a mullet. She was great, though.

DeusExMachina 07-28-2005 09:19 PM

I've only seen the Aussie Floyd, but I really liked them.

lol what's with the mullet guy
Scott Page was only with Floyd in 1988 for Delicate Sound of Thunder
every other time it's been the same guy in Money Us and Them, Shine on.., Live 8, Pulse
Dick Parry

all the Floyd tributes are AMAZING
but i dunno.. their not.. Floyd.

Yeah, I've got the Delicate Sound of Thunder concert on my computer, and I was really annoyed about the second drummer getting so much screen time, and the second guitarist doing the awesome solo at the end of Learning to Fly. Oh well...

DeusExMachina 07-29-2005 08:50 AM

Yeah, when I learned it wasn't Gilmour playing that second solo... I was heartbroken.
Yeah, when I learned it wasn't Gilmour playing that second solo... I was heartbroken.
tell me about it :(

btw, did you notice that plane at the end of On The Run, just before Time
it just flies through the arena and blows up RIGHT over a bunch of fans
what's up with that

DeusExMachina 07-29-2005 11:55 AM

The plane is because that's what the song is supposed to be about. You hear the panting and the running and the weird voice, right? Well, it's supposed to be an airport, where the running and panting is a guy trying to get to his flight. The weird talking is someone talking on a loud speaker thingie. Anywho, he doesn't manage to make it, and misses his flight. Lucky him, however, as you hear the plane crashing at the end of the song. So, the plane was supposed to represent that.

Lunch 07-29-2005 11:56 AM

I never knew that, or would have guessed.

Pigs (3 Different Ones)
Big man, pig man, ha ha charade you are.
You well heeled big wheel, ha ha charade you are.
The "pig" refers to the greedy, thoughtless capitalist, interested only in looking richer and exercising more power. Roger laughs in the face of these people, pointing out what a joke they are- their image of success and having all that they want is a big farce.
And when your hand is on your heart,
You're nearly a good laugh,
Almost a joker,
With your head down in the pig pen,
Saying "Keep on digging."
Pig stain on your fat chin.
What do you hope to find.
When you're down in the pig mine.
The "pig" is able to give commands to those like him (those in the pig pen) since he is richer and more powerful than they are. They, like him, are desperate to assert themselves in society. Roger asks his hypothetical character what he really thinks he is achieving pulling these strings.
You're nearly a laugh,
You're nearly a laugh
But you're really a cry.
It should be funny, that the pig is so pathetic, but in reality, it’s a bit sad really.
Bus stop rat bag, ha ha charade you are.
You ****ed up old hag, ha ha charade you are.
You radiate cold shafts of broken glass.
You're nearly a good laugh,
You like the feel of steel,
You're hot stuff with a hatpin,
And good fun with a hand gun.
You're nearly a laugh,
You're nearly a laugh
But you're really a cry.
Imagine an elderly woman. She is sickened by bikinis, the F word and (horror of horrors) rock musicians, with their dirty long hair, foul mouths and loud music. Surely it shouldn't be allowed!

However, once again Roger makes a mockery of this cold woman (radiating glass being a very effective metaphor, for me at least), pointing out that she's barely worth laughing at (Almost worth a quick grin). On top of this, Roger suggests this woman has no real skills at all- she can make herself look presentable (hot stuff with a hit pin) and that's about it- despite her feelings that she is doing society a favour, she actually contributes nothing.

The "you like the feel of steel" lines probably suggest the inclination of these people to assert their authority through whatever means necessary.
Hey you, Whitehouse,
Ha ha charade you are.
You house proud town mouse,
Ha ha charade you are
You're trying to keep our feelings off the street.
A bit more blunt now. Whitehouse was a person who complained about sex and violence on television and (or so I believe, I wasn't actually there :D) led a campaign against this. Roger thought this was a bit of a joke really- what right had she to tell people what they could and couldn't see? Roger makes a mockery of this woman- the line "house proud town mouse" to me being the most cutting, telling us she's nothing more than a housewife with ideas above her station.
You're nearly a real treat,
All tight lips and cold feet
Think of a "Hyacinth Bucket" type of person. For those Americans who don't know who she is, she was a character in a British comedy about a woman of humble origins who tried much too hard to be respectable and posh, much to her neighbour's and vicar's annoyance. The woman was very much "stiff upper lip" and always entirely "proper".
And do you feel abused?
Do the "offensive" images on television really make you feel so terrible? Is it really that much of a problem to you?
....! .....! .....! .....!
Oink.
You gotta stem the evil tide,
And keep it all on the inside.
People should resist their urges and pretend that they don't think about sex, violence etc- maintaining their "charade" of being "good", "moral" people.
Mary you're nearly a treat,
Mary you're nearly a treat
But you're really a cry.
You're intentions are good, but its pathetic that you feel so strongly inclined to "protect" people from these things.
