Temple Of Shadows is quite good. Their drummer is severely underrated...he uses some bizarro patterns.

I saw that album in stores a few months ago. Or maybe it was another Angra album, either way, I didn't buy it. Didn't really want it, but Angra are pretty cool.

I've been out of the scene for awhile. Someone fill me in. Any recent albums worth checking out? Who are some new big name bands now?

It's been ages since I last discovered a decent power metal band. Nothing promising lately :-\

Yeah but that would lead to Dungeon discussion again and if you notice we do nothing but discussing the same good bands over and over. We need some new blood [size=1](or more Slough Feg fans)[/size], you know? I plan to focus on traditional heavy metal soon enough.

The bands like Edguy which I used to listen to ALOT, havn't gotten a listen from me in a while. But Josh uploaded Rhaposdy's Symphony of Enchanted Lands. So, that should be good :)

I need to go back into listeneing to some Edguy.

I could never get into popular euro-power metal bands. A couple of songs from here and there but nothing more :-\

I really have started to become fixated on how good [I]Traveller[/I] is. Previously I preferred [I]Atavism[/I], but no longer.

I have all my Slough Feg albums on my goddamn external hard drive. I keep forgetting to listen to them...

I've been quite addicted to the song Primo Victoria though. It's really catchy...

I still prefer Atavism over Traveller. Perhaps with more listens I'll change my mind as well. I love Hiberno Latin Invasion too much.

Yeah, Sabaton rocks. Another good example of non-archetypal power metal that works.

Sabaton owns. But ugh, they look like history high school losers. RAH!

I think that ugly power metal bands are better than the pretty ones anyway.

I think the lyrical content of most of Sabaton's work is a perfect match for their drop-out history major look. :)

Saboton is another PM band I need to check out.

Yes. It's a lot more ballsy than a lot of the other European power metal. Sort of like Savatage's vocals (both Jon and Zack) mixed with Dungeon's music, I suppose.

I've been on a huge power metal kick for a couple of months now. Been listening to tons of Demons & Wizards, Blind Guardian, Dragonforce, Battlelore, Stratovarius, Kamelot, Labyrinth.

:eek: shocking man, really! How did you get into power and what's your favourite BG album/track :D ?

Probably Imaginations From The Other Side. That whole album is really good. Favorite track would probably be either the title track, Another Holy War or Mordred's Song. Nightfall in Middle Earth is pretty good as well. Somewhere Far Beyond is ok if for no other reason that The Bard's Song. I've got Battalions Of Fear and Follow The Blind, but I haven't really listened to them a whole lot.

NP-Symphony X-Smoke and Mirrors

Ok guys, I finished by Swords & Sorcery song for this month's competition. I already wrote lyrics and I recorded myself doing the vocals. The vocals aren't that bad but I'm sure someone else could do better. I've uploaded a wav file of the music, an mp3 of me singing, and the lyrics. Who'd like to give it a go or at least give it a listen? We've got about 2 weeks till the competition deadline.
