kitsch 02-15-2012 05:13 PM

anyone care to spare a link for kindred

every link i find is dead

oh the days of file sharing post megaupload bust

also what are the essential six organs of admittance records

sepalcure - s/t
floating points - shadows; faruxz/marilyn; danger

cbmartinez 02-15-2012 05:34 PM

id say get luminous night, compathia, school of the flower, in that order, those are the three i have and they are all good in their own way, i need kindred too

stars of the lid- the ballasted orchestra
cold cave- cherish the light years
autre ne veut- autre ne veut

that autre ne veut album is so good, super weird but rewarding

DBlitz 02-16-2012 11:17 AM

buy kindred, it's not very much at all & easily worth it if you're a burial fan

http://www.hyperdub.net/releases/view/149/HDB059

i listened to 'school of the flower' first time a few days ago, it was pretty good but i was kind of disappointed with it. that 13 min song (title track i think) was pretty shit tbh. i think i liked the two shortest songs off it the most. probably will revisit it later.

low - long division
burial - kindred
neutral milk hotel - avery island

cbmartinez 02-16-2012 04:07 PM

i always thought his longer songs were tedious, but eventually they clicked

SheenaShiva 02-16-2012 11:26 PM

burial sucks

sweboy 02-17-2012 01:35 PM

i think best six organs is 'the sun awakens' and 'dark noontide', also lots of good stuff in the other early material - i think after 'the sun awakens' he hasn't really been hitting it

SugarCoatedSour 02-17-2012 01:51 PM

The Shins - Oh Inverted World
Fun Boy 3 - S/T

cbmartinez 02-17-2012 02:58 PM
Fuckin sweet. Love that band. Have u heard their early shit like semen of the sun?
no, i haven't looked into their (supposedly) really noisy shit as of yet. heard of some pretty insane shows back in the late 90s tho where eric copeland broke a bottle over the bass players head. he was ushered out and kept playing without him

DBlitz 02-24-2012 06:21 AM

spokane - the proud graduates

this is pretty cool its like a bridge between the 60s and the 80s

SugarCoatedSour 02-24-2012 10:28 PM

the monochrome set - Love Zombies........ it sound like what indie music would be in the late 70's and early 80's. Hands down the UK had the jump on this all along.

seek it out.

Also they have some very fine compilations.

yeah i was clicking around for more of their songs and i really like "Flesh, Trash, Heat" in particular. maybe i should check out that "White Noise: Early Recordings" compilation?

SugarCoatedSour 02-25-2012 10:26 PM

uummmmm.....
check their Independent Singles Collection, Chaps, Volume Contrast Brilliance: Sessions and Singles, and Colour Transmission.

That should top you off on Monochrome Set. These dudes were apparently the original members of Adam And The Ants...which is another post-punk infused sort of new-wave band of the late 70's and early 80's....they actually got the jump on the Talking Heads in using the africanized burundi beats to flesh out their music.

Here's another favorite Monochrome song

John Flannelly - Spaced

Proving the power of modern audio programs as tools for composition, "non-musician" John Flannelly channels the spirits of retro space-travel without ever picking up an instrument, save for a simple synthesizer on select passages. Created almost entirely with the free program Audacity, Spaced presents sounds alien yet familiar, retro yet full-frequency, obnoxious but curiously intriguing. While coming off as seemingly schizophrenic at times, the songs bounce back and forth between explorations of planetary surfaces and a lone spacemans thoughts seamlessly, weaving a unique journey into the lo-fidelity of outer space.

Pusdrainer - The Lustful Sexlife of a Perverted Nympho Housewife

As the most despicable artist in the Midwest packs up and heads to New York, he does so with a giant middle finger in the air. An absolutely vile soundtrack to match an absolutely filthy concept, TLSOAPNH presents the sounds of vintage audio 8-track porn manipulated and mangled into something which is somehow more disturbing than the original. Moans and imperative commands of sexual prowess come and go throughout a blatantly provocating wail of feedback and saturation. The repetition of abrasion serves as the perfect metaphor to pornography, utter desensitization to the single-tangent nature of its climactic intention.

Dante Augustus Scarlatti & Agakus - Brainwave Saturation

A blackened affair in all realms, Brainwave Saturation is the culmination of collaboration between two artists devoted wholly to the bleak and abrasive. Dubbed onto recycled cassettes for the proper fidelity level of audio destruction, the recording presents 3 sessions totalling almost 80 minutes of harsh soundscapes, dissonant guitar wailings and a foreboding sense of eerieness which hits its crescendo at all the appropriate moments.
