Indeed. All this talk has made me want one, but I'm going to wait a little first.

Jody LeCompte 10-28-2006 12:50 AM
Yay. Im going on a road trip to Calif next summer.
Go to Brazil, Brad, that wouldbe an epic road trip.
nice choice! remember not to buy into a lot of the hyped areas though. like Hollywood, it's just bland. and lots of people in SD like to go down to Tijuana, Mexico a lot. but really the only reason is for the drinking age. besides that, it's just a bunch of homeless mexicans. lots and lots of homeless mexicans trying to sell you things.

this winter i'm taking a greyhound up to the northwest. first i'm hitting Arcata CA (to check out Humboldt State University. any college in a town where the city office is run by the Green Party is ok by me) then i'm hitting Portland, OR, then Seattle WA so my friend can go to her Seattle Art Institute orientation thing for the students coming into there in fall 07, then we're heading down to San Francisco and coming back to SD. it's gonna be so fun. rainy, and without transportation so we'll be walking everywhere from one side of each city to the other side (the only transportation we plan on using is the greyhounds) so we'll be soaked but at least we'll have fun while doing so.

blizzard 10-28-2006 01:15 AM

kps refers to how many times the track is sampled per second in order to get an approximation of the soundwave. 128 is lower quality than 320 but takes up less space. I don't notice the difference between a 128 and 320 kps song.

Efrim 10-28-2006 01:15 AM

Gah! One of them foreigners!

My friend knows people who live SD, so I think we'd go live with them for awhile and just **** around.

I know, I just can't discriminate betwen the two, usually.

The Brad 10-28-2006 01:20 AM

It's ripping at 320, just so I won't have to re-rip it for myself later. :P
To be honest, the album is nothing like what I remember it being when I picked it up in a record store in 99... but the album art is still good. I don't know if I am going to keep it, you can definitely tell Mastodon were heavily influenced by this band though.

The Brad 10-28-2006 01:22 AM

I couldn't tell the difference until I began using MP3s as my main source of car audio. 320 drives the speakers way better, but for walking around with headphones on 128 all the way.

Sr800whatyevrfdvc xfc when are you going? I may be interested in driving if you two will pay gas. ;P

It does make a huge difference when you are walking around with Sennheiser HD212Pro headphones on. Man, those headphones are like a dream.

The Brad 10-28-2006 01:28 AM

Too bulky for me to walk with, plus I can't spend lots of money on headphones. My cat fetishes the cords. :\

Efrim 10-28-2006 01:28 AM

I wish i could get new headphones
mine broke, im using the standard ipod ones again.

Pfft! They were only 70$ and well worth the buy. The great thing about them is that if the cable becomes ****ed up, you can just replace the cable because they have inputs on the bottom of each ear piece, and that is better than having to replace the damn headphones everytime. They sound so good, though!
I wish i could get new headphones

Screw iPod headphones. I hate those things. You can't ever hear anything when you are out and about, so you crank them, and then you start to go deaf as a result of it. Also, you can hardly ever hear the bass in them, and that pisses my **** off. That is why I like the big DJ headphones. :D There is a nice mix of the low end and the high end, and everything doesn't sound like ****.

we're going over winter break. like from Dec 19th until shortly before new year. although that may be subject to change. also we kind of prefer greyhound over a car because with gas prices, it'd easily be quite a few hundred dollars by the end of the trip, however greyhound to Seattle and back are under $200. then add in the slight extra charges for splitting the trip in a few pieces and it ends up being just a little over $200 if i remember correctly. trust me, long distance bus-trips are the new way to go! either that or hitch-hiking but i'm not as fearless as many of my other friends when it comes to that. and it'd just be unpleasant hitch-hiking in the northwestern rains during the winter *shudder*.
