Neat.
So I heard Keith Moon saw the Beatles at dinner one time and walked up and asked them if he "Could join?" to which they replied "Ya, sure sit down". And then he said "No, can I join your band?", Ringo was sitting their the whole time also.
 Keith is so cool. Both Ringo and Keith are pretty funny, but Keith is a much, much better drummer. I'm glad they didn't let him join though. He wouldn't have suited The Beatles style at all. Ringo was perfect for them. |
Keith Moon in The Beatles... mmm that sounds good, if only that happened, he could actually play the instrument...
EDIT: this is my 5555 post... wooo. |
Keith Moon wouldn't have suited the Beatles at all.
NP: The Beatles- Penny Lane |
Not at all. Plus, if Keith joined The Beatles then his Who career would probably be cut short, thus eliminating alot of very good music from history.
Why don't you tell me why they sound amazing ALL the time to you?
I just think it is average music what more do you want me to say. It is average to my ears.
Go away. I'm not going into your thread and telling you I don't like your music taste. I don't have to tell you shit. If you go into an official thread (which this might as well be) and bash the band, or say you don't like them, at least give a reason why. If you don't contribute in some way, you're spamming. Keith Moon is more technically talented than Ringo, but I think in many ways Ringo was more creative. And, Keith Moon wouldn't be able to fill in Ringo's spot. His style just doesn't fit. |

I've heard plenty of people do a fine job of imititating Ringos drumming, I think he suited the beatles very well and did a fine job at that, but as far as drumming goes...He wasn't all that great.. |
"He's (Ringo) not even the best drummer in the band."
Oh I love John. |
Ringo Starr was a fairly underrated drummer (in general as well as within the context of the Beatles) but he's not as irreplacable as you people seem to think he was.

Similar John line: When George quit the Beatles for a week during Let it Be after getting in an arguement with Paul, The Beatles all went back to John's place to make a plan to persuade George to come back.
As soon as they sat down, John said, "Well, let's call Eric up." |

Wow! Another wonderful contribution from cowboy_from_hell
Ehh...im just basing that on favrites,if it came down to it Keith > Ringo
KM couldn't keep time. But Ringo could so well! And he played what was needed and was an an essential member of The Beatles. |
The Most Over Rated Band Of All Time!!!
oMgZ DiMeBaG iZ dEaD l0l 0mG!!!!!!!!!!!123four Ringo fit in perfect with the Beatles, three guys who wanted to be the star... too much. |
Yeah, it's a shame that John and Paul had such an ego clash.
|
You know, for every time someone comes into here and says the Beatles are the most overrated band of all time, I'll come into every AC/DC, Slipknot, and Tool thread and tell them how its a bunch of ****ing noise that someone could fart out (actually I like Tool a tad, AC/DC is boring, and Slipknot fits that description perfectally! )
Moon fit the Who much better than with the Beatles. John Paul and George just couldn't match the energy that Townshend and Daltry could deliver (I'll leave out Entwistle on that one ;) ) plus everything great the Who did would be gone, so we're stuck with only one kickass band that might be better, might not be, and my bets are on the might not be as good. I like Moon more than Ringo, but Ringo is still one of my favorites. And a much better timekeeper. |
The Most Over Rated Band Of All Time!!!
Thank You For Your Lovely Well Thought Out Opinion. It's So Cool When Someone Comes Into A Thread Only To Bash The Band. And Typing Like This Is Really Cool. /sarcasm /typing that was hard |
The Most Over Rated Band Of All Time!!!
I say this all the time...how can you overrate the most succesful band of all time? It's a serious question is it possible to over-rate a band that no one has been able to match in success and influence? |
Keith Moon is more technically talented than Ringo, but I think in many ways Ringo was more creative. And, Keith Moon wouldn't be able to fill in Ringo's spot. His style just doesn't fit.
Moon was miles ahead of Ringo in creativity. Keith stands alone as a drummer and a person in rock history, he's one of the most creative and original drummers ever.
KM couldn't keep time. But Ringo could so well! And he played what was needed and was an an essential member of The Beatles.
Moon couldn't keep time? Just because Ringo's most admirable trait in terms of drumming (being a great time-keeper) does not mean that Keith couldn't keep it. In some ways, Moon is one of the most advanced time-keepers in history because he kept rhythm with a style that no one else has been able to use. He kept the beat, but also did so much more than that. That said I think both drummers are essential pieces to their respective bands it would not replace one with the other. But lets get our heads on straight here, Moon dominates Ringo. |
I agree with Lunch, Moon was an excellent time keeper. He managed to define a style of drumming never heard before in rock songs that could easily have regular rock beats.
|
He certainly kicked Ringo's *** drum wise. And a lot of other people's asses too.
|
I wonder if the Beatles would have been as big if they had decided to keep Pete Best as their drummer. Probably not, I would think. The way they talk about that part in the anthology, it sounds like they wouldn't have even gotten into the studio if they hadn't replaced Best.
|
George Martin told them to get a new drummer.
Anyways, yeah, like I said earlier, Keith Moon is my favorite drummer, but its not the drummer way to kick other drummers *** in playing. We all play, and thats waht matters. /ends little kid sugarcoating |

He would speed up a lot of the time. I swear I read that somewhere... |
Yeah, if you listen to We're Not Gonna Take it off of Woodstock, they speed up horribly I believe the second time they go through the "Listening to you..." stanza. I thought it was intentional that they speed up through the song, until I heard the studio version.
IMO it does sound better slowly speeding up, but it was just one rapid change and pretty much kept that tempo, maybe going a little faster. Enough to say that it wasn't intentional. |
Does anybody have any live footage of The Beatles playing? On their computer I mean.
