Yet he hates Cannibal Corpse and Morbid Angel?!
he has some consistency issues...
Consistency issues? Yeeeeah...I think a worse example of that of that would be him giving Number of the Beast a five star rating, and then saying
If you're sick of sugary bands like Iron maiden and Helloween who hide their complete lack of badassness behind a thin veil of psuedo artistry...
|
He's the kind of guy you have the biological urge to beat up for his lunch money.

Mmm...Lunch money.
I want my Human Fortress album! |
By the way, Ollie, how was the show other than the annoying moshers? What were the sets like?
|
Pretty great.
Sabaton had *unknown song Metal Machine Primo Victoria Edguy Catch of the century Mysteria Vain Glory opera Babylon Lavatory love machine Superheroes King of fools Dragonforce had My spirit will go on Fury of the storm Storming the burning Fields Once in a lifetime Trail of broken hearts Blackfire Soldiers of the wasteland Through the fire and the flames ........................................ Heart of a dragon Valley of the Damned That's about all I recall of 'forces set. I'll work it out later |
Sounds like an awesome show.
Speaking of Superheroes, I just saw the video for that. One of the weirdest damn things I've ever seen, but god it was funny. I still can't believe some of the reviews Rocket Ride is getting lately. From the tracks I have, it doesn't sound like it's as good as Hellfire Club, but it still sounds great. I think it's refreshing to have a metal band that knows how to have fun and laugh. |
Yeah, shame I didn't know Babylon before they played it, the only one I couldn't sing along to!
|
I would have loved to see the crowd also getting into Primo Victoria or Metal Machine. Edguy and Sabaton always have great choruses.
|
Yeah, I was one of the only ones to know the words to the Sabaton stuff.
There were more than I expected. I also met Sam Totman in the street beforehand. He looked hung over and was looking for an off-licence. NP-Iced Earth-Slave to the Dark. |
The really good thing is when an underground band plays at a small club and there are about 50 or 60 people but they're all huge fans of the band. True metal brothers united \m/
there was probably over 1000 people there, and a lot of them obviously were just going to see DF do their new stuff, which they actually seemed to keep to a minimum. IMO, they were much better on their older songs. |
That was kinda like the Sonata Arctica concert...there was a minimum of people there (um...400, maybe, possibly more), yet everyone knew the words to every song. Makes you feel more like the band.
Traditional metal = goooood. anemiate@yahoo.com, if you got a minute. :) |
I've been listening to Metal Storm Radio a lot lately and they seem to almost exclusively play Power Metal. If you're ever looking for new music I highly recommend checking it out...

Pretty sure you quoted the wrong post there. Relating to Stoic's uploads: I was suprised. Quite good... |
Thank you for the feedback. I'm really digging american heavy/power at the moment :)
|
It's a shame Sabaton didn't play more songs, actually.
You're quite lucky, you Englishmen. |
I dont like the way support bands are treated in such events :( |
That is what is stopping me from getting my tickets to Exodus, supporting The Haunted :-|
|
EXODUS SUPPORTING THE HAUNTED?!?! WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TO?!?!

For the Dragonforce gig last night Edguy were treated exceptionally well. In fact, in the gig (sold out Astoria for a power metal band?) I believe Edguy got a bunch of new fans- including me. |

I've just gotten into them recently. Good stuff. Stoic, why dont you go in the BG thread...its getting lonely :( :p NP Blind Guardian - Blood Tears |
EXODUS SUPPORTING THE HAUNTED?!?! WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TO?!?!
I know, I know :( I don't want to pay $55 to see Exodus play what will probably be a 30-40 min set. I am hoping, since my trip to America aligns with Exodus' touring around the USA, that I might get lucky, and catch them in New York, Ft. Lauderdale or Miami. I already know I'm in San Francisco a week too early to see them in the Bay-Area. :( |
If you're in San Francisco, you might get lucky and be able to catch a Slough Feg gig.
|
Ah, that would be awesome.
/votes Slough Feg on Spotlight poll ;) |
It's a shame Sabaton didn't play more songs, actually.
You're quite lucky, you Englishmen.
Yeah. Plus they started 10 minutes after doors had opened, by the time we had finished buying t-shirts they had finished, missed them completely. I was very much looking forward to seeing Sabaton too. :( Edguy and Dragonforce more than made up for it though. |
Damn you english people you get blind guardian too!
Everyone except for the greekies... /cries blood tears once more |
I dont like the way support bands are treated in such events :(
Around here, regardless of whether the support band is good or bad, people just stand there with their arms crossed, if they even did show up for their set. It must be SO awkward to play in conditions like that :/ |
