Wow. I think my favorite Dylan song is now "It's Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding), replacing "Lily, Rosemary, and The Jack Of Hearts." The lyrics are just so great. And he sings them with such conviction. I think it's a bit better when he focuses on more serious stuff, though it may seem obvious. To start some conversation, what are all of your favorite Dylan songs and lyrics?
I'd have to say that my favorite song of Dylan's is To Make You Feel My Love.

MBS 03-06-2006 01:54 PM

Hey guys; I sent out Paul McCartney's new album and the John Mayer Trio album. I think everyone got it. I'm uploading Christmas Eve and Other Stories by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, so expect that in maybe an hour/hour and a half.

MidnightRider 03-06-2006 02:09 PM

Freud, I think my favorite Dylan song is probably Tombstone Blues or Desolation Row.

I'm kind of late on this, but I've never liked AC/DC and I got into CR through Zeppelin. My dad just randomly bought Zep IV for me one day when he saw it on sale.

Today after school I found a cd case in the parking lot and being the good citizen that I am, I kept it. I got the greatest hits of Fleetwood Mac, Journey, Def Leopard, and Van Morrison. The others in it where all burned cds, so I have yet to see what they are.

robo2448 03-06-2006 02:10 PM

w00t. Try. I've been waiting a long time to hear this. Thanks a lot MBS. I'm downloading it now. I still have to listen to the album I mentioned last night that I got off Chris' site that sounds awesome, but I'm listening to Rubber Soul now. And when I'm in a Rubber Soul mood, it's impossible to change and listen to something else. So the new album will have to wait until Rubber Soul is done.

np: The Beatles- You Won't See Me

Favorite Dylan song is impossible for me. I was obsessed with Tombstone Blues for a while but right now it seems to be Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues. I've been on a Highway 61 Revisited binge for about 2 months now. It may be passing Blood on the Tracks as my favorite.

Losendos35 03-06-2006 02:28 PM

My dad got me influenced into classic rock, cause I remember that he played me, Boston's More than a Feeling, and from then I just kept playing songs out of his playslist. I just love music by the classic bands, aka Queen, Zeppelin, The Floyd, The who,

Long Live Classic Rock!!!

I'm gonna go with you. It's Alright Ma is breathtaking. I was left dumbfounded the first time I heard it. It's either that or Desolation Row.

MBS 03-06-2006 03:36 PM

Christmas Eve and Other Stories has been sent out.

Congratulations on being one of the few new users who jumped into the conversation instead of responding to the first post. What album is that song off of?

JonG 03-06-2006 04:00 PM

Thanks for Chaos & Creation in the Backyard.

Friends To Go is such a George song. It makes me shiver.

MBS 03-06-2006 04:06 PM

Apparently, Paul fought really hard with Nigel Godrich (sp?) to have that song on the album. I think it's a pretty good album, one of Paul's best.

That, and Riding to Vanity Fair
Congratulations on being one of the few new users who jumped into the conversation instead of responding to the first post. What album is that song off of?
It's off Time Out of Mind. A very good and overlooked Dylan album from 1997. Kind of similar in sound to Oh Mercy. I'm impressed he picked such an obscure song as a favorite though. Good song though. We've got a n00b who knows his/her Dylan. And actually, he did quote Bonzo in his first post, but seems to have realized that we're well past discussing that and is contributing to current conversation.

And I just got new headphones yesterday and just listened to the live disc of Wheels of Fire. With my old broken headphones, I could almost never hear any bass. It was a relief to listen to this again and hear Bruce's bass so loud and upfront. I think Bruce actually outshines Clapton on Spoonful. He completely dominates that song.

Krabsworth 03-06-2006 04:30 PM

MBS I didn't get what you sent out

Thanks, though I'm fairly sure the n00b is a she.

I think Bruce definitely gives Clapton a run for his money on Crossroads. His bass playing is great in that.

whoever sent out CACITBY could they send it my way

thanks.

I love Masters of War those words cut so deep and are so harsh. I like it because there isn't much symbolism in it like a lot of Dylan's songs, its just the truth.

MBS 03-06-2006 05:13 PM

http://www.recordnerd.com/lists/Aaron629/

If anyone wants anything: I've got time.

I'm updating the list: I got 20 something more albums.

Scuba_Steve 03-06-2006 05:34 PM

If you guys are sending stuff out, can you maybe send it to me too? my email is yourpizzaboy@gmail.com

I'd love to hear some new classic rock every so often, as it seems that all that gets sent from the daily upload is extreme metal.

Krabsworth 03-06-2006 05:35 PM

MBS, could you hook a brother up with Pet Sounds?

MBS 03-06-2006 05:37 PM
MBS, could you hook a brother up with Pet Sounds?
Sure thing, give me a second.

robo2448 03-06-2006 05:37 PM

Speaking of Pet Sounds, I listened to it the other day. I love the Beach Boys so much once in a while. I can't listen to them more than like once a month or I get bored, but when I'm in a Beach Boys mood, Pet Sounds blows me away. Good Vibrations will be stuck in my head for the next couple weeks now.

PinkFreud 03-06-2006 05:45 PM

God Only Knows must be one of the most beautiful ballads ever written. My roomate and i sung it acapella to one of our other friends. Who is also a guy. We cornered him. It weirded him out...

Krabsworth 03-06-2006 05:46 PM

Gay moment.

MBS-Could I have the Let It Be Sessions too?

I can give you Buffalo Springfield's S/T'd

jpj 03-06-2006 06:03 PM

I've tried several times, but I can't, for the life of me, get into Pet Sounds. I'd like to hear Smiley Smile, does anyone have it?

Ha, sounds cool. I really like that song, one of my favs by The Beach Boys.

I'm gonna be blatant and say Brian Wilson = one of the ten best songwriters of all time. No question.
MBS-Could I have the Let It Be Sessions too?

What's your email? I don't have it.

Yeah, I'll put out Let It Be Sessions. I don't think many people here have it, and it's great.

Actually, I'll just post Let It Be Sessions in the thread. It's not exactly an official release, and they're not getting any money from it.

Scuba_Steve 03-06-2006 06:23 PM

MBS, since you just sent the John Mayer trio out, could you please send me the link?

I've been wanting to hear it before I spend my money on what appears to be an underpackaged cd.

I'd appreciate it alot.

I have the Let it Be Sessions:cool:

You uploaded it a long time ago. Great stuff, high quality bootleg. Most of the songs are demos and some are incomplete, but it's still awesome. And they're some pretty hilarious songs too.

MBS 03-06-2006 06:28 PM
You uploaded it a long time ago.
Yeah for the Beatles thread. I remember that.

"DONT DIG NO PAKISTANIS TAKING ALL THE PEOPLES JOBS!"

WelcomeToTheMachine 03-06-2006 06:29 PM

yeah i got it awhile ago from you also.

that was my first beatleg.

I don't have that section. Do you mind uploading it? You can post it on MX, since it is a bootleg.

I would, but i've tried uploading things before with out it working I think my computer is too slow, sorry.
MBS, could you hook a brother up with Pet Sounds?
When I was younger, I would sit in my twin-sized bed wonderin' where my brother was.

Sorry, I listened to Mitch Hedberg a lot today.

This bootleg is amazing, I must say. Good year, 8-4-74.

Scuba_Steve 03-06-2006 08:16 PM

Holy crap, HUGE thanks for sending that John Mayer trio album. I hit play and I knew that it was going to kick *** about 3 seconds in.

Lets just say....it doesn't disappoint

Opening Riff in "Wait Till Tommorow"= 'gasm

MBS 03-06-2006 08:35 PM

It's a very good album. John Mayer is a very diverse player and I like this phase of him.

jpj 03-06-2006 08:43 PM

I hope he stays this way and doesn't divert back to his "Your Body is a Wonderland" ways.

BigTrav415 03-06-2006 08:43 PM

I didn't like his early stuff much at all, "Real World" was OK but his really croony stuff like "Your Body Is A Wonderland" turned me off him. Then my friend who likes pretty much the same stuff as me said that the Trio was awesome, I have yet to listen. I'll download it in a minute.

PinkFreud 03-06-2006 08:44 PM

He's definitely good. Very Hendrix-like tone too.

I'm working on my FA for Buckethead. It's way harder than I thought it would be. He has too many sideprojects.

JonG 03-06-2006 08:45 PM

I didn't really like Try! when I first heard it. His voice is weird, and it makes me think of him singing "Your Body is a Wonderland."

Scuba_Steve 03-06-2006 08:55 PM

He has a knack for writing pop songs, I give him that.

I think he put out the poppier albums so he had some money to live off of before he started to do what he likes, which I really think is the stuff on TRY!
