Yeah, the Epoxies actually surprised me. They were really pretty good. They had a cool light show as part of their set too.
There lead singer was standing outside in the pouring rain trying to sell CDs after the show. I don't know why, considering there was a merch table inside. |

Haha, I guess you're right, but it was still odd.
And this wasn't just rain, it was pouring. It felt really good after jumping around in the pit for the last hour, though. I managed to get next to the stage for the last two songs, it was excellent. I considered getting up on the stage and stage diving, but I didn't. A lot of people were though, it was nuts. On a side note, the club I always go to is giving my dad and I free tickets to four shows. They're so cool. :D |

My first show ever. I'm pretty psyched :D. |
Sounds fun. Silverstein is awesome live. I'm seeing them again in December with Hawthorne Heights, Bayside, and Aiden. Should be excellent.
I also just found out that As I Lay Dying is coming here with Norma Jean in December. It's gonna be so sick. |
I met Lovedrug's guitar player in the rain. He was cool.

Hello pop-punkers. What is up? I'm just posting this and I'm off to bed.
Bye  Butler: If you wanted the black hole avatar, just tell me and I'll get rid of this one since I did kind of steal this from you... |
ATTN: All
Great gig, very good local bands. Review up soon and maybe some songs tomorrow. |
Secret Lives of the Freemasons:
I give these guys credit. Apparently it was their first show ever, so I can't really hate them that much. I mean, they were very awkward and all, but they were trying. Plus it was such a small audience I know that made it doubly hard. Their music wasn't fantastic, but it wasn't bad either. They have a lot of time to pick things up too. It's hard to judge a band on their first gig, so all I can really say is they passed. Micah Bentley: These guys remind me a lot of Jars of Clay. Instrumentally composed of an acoustic guitar, an electric guitar, an acoustic bass, a piano, and drums (and of course vocals), the band's music was very laid back, though at times becoming harder and with a sound similar to many radio-friendly modern rock bands. I can also say I was very impressed with the professionalism and musicianship of the band. The electric guitarist used many effects, but still he had some very cool lead work, with tapping riffs and even using a bow throughout. I have yet to listen to their EP I picked up, but I did enjoy the music enough to pick it up. So did many of the other people there, there was a fairly decent line after their set. Vitruvian: Another great opener. I picked up their demo too. I listened to it on the ride back home, and it may very well be the best single dollar purchase I've made on music so far. A 3 song demo, with some strong musicianship, for $1. Not bad, I say. The band is in the vein of the newer metal-influenced Pop-Punk bands invading the scene, but I think they stand out a little bit, especially on the drums. The guitarist wasn't using his full potential on the CD either as I heard him warming up on squealing pinch harmonics and flowing sweeps. Still good stuff though. If this style of music remains popular I can see these guys doing well. Scary Kids Scaring Kids: Once again, great band live, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Let me also say Pooyah is maybe the coolest musician I'v ever had the pleasure of meeting. I got to the gig a little early, and he just came out and socialized with the kids in line, so I talked to him a bit then, then more while he was hanging out at their merch booth before the show, then again at the end of the show. Just the most friendly and congenial guy ever. I guess I'll share the set list, as I have it next to me, for kicks: The City Sleeps in Flames, The World as We Know It, My Darkest Hour, What's Up Now?, The Bright Side of Suffering, The Only Medicine, Bulletproof. Unfortunately pretty short, and even shorter since their new drummer was playing the songs a bit over tempo. Of course, after talking to the band afterwards it's apparently because they always tell the drummer to play it fast, and he didn't know any better heh. Their old drummer also showed up, and actually inadvertently unplugged the lead guitarist's amp right before his awesome solo in The Only Medicine, so that sucked rather a lot. The band did well for that screw up though, the song didn't collapse in on itself. I can't wait to see these guys again, it's always a good time even if there's not a huge crowd. Ask me for some songs by any of the latter 3 bands if you all are interested. I might put together something even if no one does though :p |
Yo dead thread, sup?
I'm off ill again. I really should be writing my essay on Julius Caesar, but I procastinate way too much, so I am watching Red Dwarf instead. |
I too am off ill today, and I have nothing to do except play Rollercoaster Tycoon.

Sounds like a good time. :thumb: |
You know what? Tomorrow is the two-year anniversary of the parting of The Movielife. It's also the day I Am The Avalanche's new album drops in stores. Seeing as Vinnie used to be in the The Movielife, and is now in IATA, it's a little strange
