Ugh. I'm trying to weather out the first allergy attack of the season. It started up yesterday and has been kicking my *** ever since. It doesn't help that I had to go out today to buy more cough drops and tissues.

This medication they gave me at student health takes the edge off, though. I took the second pill of the daily dosage and it put me down like Old Yeller.

It reminds me of how me and my last last high school girlfriend broke up.

In "Lost Cause", Beck doesn't sound overly upset or obsessive over the end of the relationship. He sounds very wearied and resigned, as if he was expecting it to come to an end. It's a final weary kissoff, "I'm tired of fighting for a lost cause" (which could mean either the girl or the relationship). Amazingly done.

Elvis Costello probably has one lying around somewhere in his body of work; from what I've heard of his so far, he's good at writing about traditional stuff like girlfriends and break-ups and making it not suck. He might not have one to measure up to Lost Cause though.

I've heard that that was Costello's forte, but "Lost Cause" is an incredible song.
