Excellent review, excellent album.

Brain Toad 09-13-2005 04:20 PM

I still don't think MLIW is that great.

guns_of_brixton 09-13-2005 04:23 PM

I say they're easily the best modern hardcore band.
I say they're easily the best modern hardcore band.
I say you don't listen to much hardcore. MLIW are really awesome and all, but there's better bands out there.

shane italian 09-13-2005 05:52 PM

I say No-Cash are hardcore.

No-Cash are a CRS7 band, right? And they are hardcore-punk, so flip a coin.

pedro durruti 09-13-2005 05:56 PM

No they are not CRS7 but have the same general sound

shane italian 09-13-2005 05:59 PM

No-Cash are hardcore-punk to me.

AndreTheHyena 09-13-2005 08:37 PM
Yes, they are. http://www.fatwreck.com/empee/50179.mp3 - "California's Burning" from their fat Wreck debut.
I have dial-up, so I'm not going to bother with that right now.

Who would you compare them to?

Brain Toad 09-13-2005 08:43 PM

Team Spider is punk, because of a lack of any other name, or ska-punk

J_McMeaty 09-13-2005 09:15 PM

After little debate, I have come to the conclusion that Fantasize by the Specials is about secks and masterbation and all that jazz.

Anxious 09-13-2005 09:43 PM

I have come to the conclusion that the universe is pie shaped.

s/t, because it has Negativland on it, where the band of that name got it's name. That's also the one I'm listening to. I don't like artsy stuff much, but this stuff had a hynptoic kind of vibe to it.

Didn't Nick Cave hang out with Neu! for a while?

Anxious 09-13-2005 09:56 PM

Proably. Nick Cave was a character.

Nick Cave is the character. I <3 him.

RIP Ian Curtis 09-13-2005 10:11 PM

Nick Cave is the greatest Australian musician ever, bar none. The only people who come anywhere near close are The Saints.

RIP Ian Curtis 09-13-2005 10:12 PM

He recently refused to play a show in England because the lame venue wouldn't let him drink and smoke onstage. And seeing as he chainsmokes cigarettes as an alternative to heroin, it's not a very nice thing to do.

AndreTheHyena 09-13-2005 10:29 PM

Has Nick Cave ever done anything with Tom Waits?

Pete 09-13-2005 11:48 PM
I have dial-up, so I'm not going to bother with that right now.

Kinda the Lawrence Arms meets 88 Fingers Louie, I guess. Also, kinda like None More Black. So, mid-tempo punk with hardcore influences, lots of melodies and shouted vocals.
Has Nick Cave ever done anything with Tom Waits?
not that I know of. There's some stuff that's been mislabelled that he has, but it's bollocks. He has done some awesome stuff with Shane McGowan from the Pouges.

Fair enough, I also apologise, you see when I made that comment, I had a headcahe and a can of guinness in my left hand. Sorry.
