holy ****ing ****. 1749 pages? thats ****ing crazy. Well... i was going to say I cant believe noone said anything about Guns N Roses, but i wasnt about to read 1749 pages to find out if what i was saying was true. But noone probably did say anything about them. Anyway, Guns N Roses own. And i know youre all thinking theyre not Classic Rock, but their album 'Appetite For Destruction' was classed as it in Rolling Stone magazine.
We don't talk about GnR because
A) they aren't classic rock
and
B) they suck
Notre Dame beat Michigan I [used to] hate ND but l love and upset.
No one loves watching scUM stumble and fall more than I do.

Hopefully.
So why all the Grateful Dead talk then?
That's a little harsh. They're both great.

jpj 09-10-2005 03:49 PM
So why all the Grateful Dead talk then?
Because they did a whole lot more than play bland, run of the mill hard rock.

magicbus 09-10-2005 03:49 PM
So why all the Grateful Dead talk then?
I thought you liked them

Illmatic 09-10-2005 03:50 PM
So why all the Grateful Dead talk then?
meh, the Dead aren't as bad as GnR. I can kind of see the appeal of the Dead, but GnR just sucks.

Jam2Me 09-10-2005 03:50 PM

I was at the Sox/Yankees game last night and Hideki Matsui's intro music was "Immigrant Song." He must have seen them on a Japan tour, bwahaha.
Of course the game I go to my Sox get raped, atleast they raped the Yankees harder today.

BludgeonySteve 09-10-2005 03:51 PM
Because they did a whole lot more than play bland, run of the mill hard rock.
GnR perfected hard rock. They're definitly one of the best hard rock bands and definitly not "Run of the mill". Now i'm just going to pretend that comment was the product of anger.

jpj 09-10-2005 03:53 PM

Nope, it's exactly how I feel about them.

I think if anyone "perfected" hard rock it was Deep Purple.

So what you're saying is that they "perfected" a genre that was pioneered by the likes of Bad Company, Foghat, and AC/DC.

Bravo?

Burn?

jpj 09-10-2005 04:00 PM

You are the weirdest classically trained musician ever.

...Take that back Phil Lesh and Tom Constanten was classically trained.

Illmatic 09-10-2005 04:01 PM
I'm a classically trained musician, I could tell you all your music is "bland" :p
And we could tell you that you're a douchebag  :p

Jam2Me 09-10-2005 04:03 PM
I prefer Rainbow.
I like distorted bluesy-rock riff and shouty choruses,
I can think of some bands that meet that description that are better than GnR.

magicbus 09-10-2005 04:05 PM
I prefer Rainbow.

As I've stated before, Gn'R are my favourite band and will probably remain so for some time. I think you take what you can get from a band. Some people think Guns N' Roses are bland but they're everything I want from a band. Plenty here think the Grateful Dead were amazing, I think they're the most overrated band going. I like distorted bluesy-rock riff and shouty choruses, other people like extended jam sessions. Classic rock isn't really a place for elitism. I'm a classically trained musician, I could tell you all your music is "bland" :p
Heh, you must've not been here a year ago.

I think they kick Foghat and AC/DC's ***. And are a little better than Bad Company.

Jam2Me 09-10-2005 04:12 PM
Skid Row and Hanoi Rocks amirite?
Never heard of them, I was thinking Black Crowes and I'm starting to like Black Keys a lot.

angusmaster 09-10-2005 04:26 PM

Ok,i wont use the smile thing as much in the future.

Glitterati 09-10-2005 05:12 PM

I'm not really a sports guy. It's not that I don't like it, I kind find it boring. I used to play baseball when I was younger, but I haven't in a long time.
NP: Elvis Costello - Alison, not really Classic Rock but pretty close.
Elvis Costello....nah, he's not really considered CR, but I think he's great.
Black Sabbath - Sweet Leaf
Uh...good to know.
I think they kick Foghat and AC/DC's ***. And are a little better than Bad Company.
I'd take GNR over AC/DC anyday.

Walrus Gumboot 09-10-2005 05:35 PM

I really don't see why anyone would ever want to listen to the Grateful Dead, I don't expect people to like them, I don't know why I like them, I don't know how I started liking them and I don't understand why they have such a huge following. I do love them though, and I tend to form deep unspoken bonds with other Deadheads (and CR fans, of course) and other various people that I wouldn't be friends with normally because they aren't in my grade/classes/school
