A Children of Bodom thread in pop-punk?

I'll definitely be there. I may be contacting Med about doing an FA on them too.
Do it, bitch :p I look forward to reading that.

Bitch? :( You southerners have some weird terms of endeerment.

I'll do it thought. :) Me = Hate Crew whore

Ooh, some TRP love and I get here too late. I reckon Greg would make a great salesman, he did much better at getting the band out there than I could ever do.

Axe 11-15-2005 01:35 AM
Thanks. :)

Don't be so sure about that, Mr I-write-awesome-Garm-articles. :p

I currently have a very dial up friendly link sitting in my mailbox.

Excellent. I love the whole Alice In Wonderland aspect of that song.

Good song. One of my current favourites.
haha, I actually got you closer <3

Bartender 11-15-2005 04:20 AM
Wait, they're unknown but have released albums before? Or am I thinking of someone else/I misread that somewhere?
There's an early 90s band called the Red House Painters, who've released several albums and are quite beloved, it seems. Maybe you're thinking of them? I know I confused the two for a bit.

NP Afghan Whigs - If I Were Going

camelfarmer 11-15-2005 04:23 AM

What sorta of music is that bartender?

Bartender 11-15-2005 04:30 AM

The Afghan Whigs? Kind of grunge/alt-rock mixed with (more or less, depending on which release) soul. Iai loves them.

NP Afghan Whigs - John the Baptist

I have been told this a couple of times by friends as well. Maybe theres some truth to it.

Bartender 11-15-2005 04:37 AM

That just brought to mind the time we did a career aptitude thing in school. One of my (less close) friends got "nut salesman".

Enjoy the stars man. I got them last night, I repped you first.

Riva 11-15-2005 04:49 AM
Walls is their sixth release, but prior to that they didn't attract much attention at all. The have only release one 'album', which only features half of the band (see tomorrow daily upload). Locally they were doing ok, but elsewhere they never really made an impact.

The fact that their official forum has only 325 members is a small indication of their popularity.
They got signed by Sanity's record company, right?

I <3 TRP.

Josh 11-15-2005 04:49 AM

out of interest, what exactly is avant-garde metal? i've heard it mentioned but don't know what it is.

man, school sucks today, no more lessons. i would go home, but i didn't bring my car, and my parents are stressed cos today they find out if they got the tenancy on a farm or not.

NP: Rhapsody - Beyond the Gates of Infinity. i'm really liking Rhapsody at the moment, i only have Symphony of Enchanted Lands though.

Riva 11-15-2005 04:53 AM

Avant Garde is a term in art which means that the artist is pushing the boundaries of both their genre and the art in general.

It applies to all the art forms, including music.

How did they come to the specific conclusion of a nut salesman?

I thought they were on some independant label. Modern Music or something.

/googles

Bartender, I just got your e-mail. Your Tears Are Warning Signs is another album done by The Red Paintings. I uploaded it for The Daily Upload, but I wasn't sure if you were on the mailing list, so I sent it to you early.

EDIT: http://www.modernmusic.com.au/

Bartender 11-15-2005 05:05 AM

Thanks, and no, I'm not on the mailing list.

I've no idea. We all thought it was great, though.

Apocalyptic Raids 11-15-2005 05:07 AM

Must have been one fine career test.

blueyxd 11-15-2005 05:19 AM

Also mercedes benz cars amirite. The bastards just want to sound cool, barely anyone knows what it means (I do).

Deth 11-15-2005 08:15 AM

Well, what does it mean?

ThrashMaster27 11-15-2005 08:17 AM

Man, I just learnt it's gonna cost me $9,800 to take a course in Digital Video and Television production.

Kinda brought a downer on the day. I reckon I could still make it though.

camelfarmer 11-15-2005 08:41 AM
Well, what does it mean?
Like he/she whatever the hell heavyriva is said, its when an artist is pretty much trying out new things, cutting egde, progressive, exploring new ideas or combining previously uncombined ideas. Something along those lines. Its a bit broad the definition now a days.
