I'd get by.
I lost a lot of my music in an accidental deletion of all the music on my computer. I'm still missing a lot of album that I had on mp3.
But I mean ALL of it. |

I'd go into a deep depression and become violently anti-social. |

Good answer. |
If I lost ALL my music I would buy back all my favorite albums. I sometimes wish I had a nice little collection of music I truly loved rather than a massive collection of some mediocre CDs I bought for the hell of it.
I think we determined that Guns N Roses aren't classic rock. More classic metal or maybe even glam. I personally can't stand them. They completely butchered Knockin' On Heaven's Door IMO. I think some regulars here like them though.
Which Traffic album should I get first? Should I avoid a greatest hits?
I like GNR in small doses (just about everything after Appetite started to suck) but they definitely aren't classic rock.
I like the Guns and Roses cover of Knockin' on Heaven's Door. But, I think the best version of that song is Warren Zevon's (who doesn't get talked about enough in here).
Mmm, Warren Zevon is great. np: Heart - Crazy On You  |
If I lost all my music, I would waste a lot of money buying my favorite CD's back, and play my instruments about 5 times as much as I do now.
NP: Moody Blues - Nights in White Satin. |
You are such a corporate whore.
Sticks and stones... :( I'm going to go listen to some Kansas and Journey, but only the radio-approved songs. Then i'm going to buy a Pink Floyd greatest hits album  |
If i lost all my music,id probably go through phase where i would be mad at everyone for a while.
As for gnr,I bought the greatest hits and liked it for a while, then i got into other stuff. Edit:Is it me,but every time i post something, the thread is dead for a while. |

NP: Moody Blues - Nights in White Satin.
Same here. np: Marvin Gaye - I Heard It Through The Grapevine. I think I like this version better than the CCR version. |
guns n roses arent classic rock more so just hard rock id say
|
I think the CCR version is good, but it's hard to top Marvin's voice. Overall, I prefer the Marvin Gaye version.
|
does any1 liek the song magic man by heart. i think that song has soem excellent guitar
|
So how does everyone feel about Traffic? I checked them out because I liked Stevie Winwood in Blind Faith, and I'm glad I did.
That's exactly why I checked them out too. I started off by getting John Barleycorn Must Die....which is probably the most mature album I've ever heard released by a previously psychedelic band. Then I got Last Exit which was way different, but still great. I'm not sure which I really prefer, they are both totally different and incomparable, yet very good albums. And I consider GnR classic rock, I'm not sure why. I don't necessarily think that the year the music was released defines whether it's classic rock or not. I remember my classic rock radio station (it got replaced though) used to always define classic rock simply as "the greatest rock n roll of all time." Which, if you think about it, makes sense. Because right now we might not consider a certain band classic rock because they aren't from like the 60's or 70's, but they are quite a few 80's and 90's bands that I think will definitely be considered classic rock in a decade or so plainly because they are a good enough band that they will be remembered decades from now. That's basically what makes classic rock. I'm not a big fan of GnR, but they were one of the best (and most famous) rock bands of the 80's and early 90's. edit- and Magic Man is a great song. I'm not sure whether I prefer the CCR version or Marvin Gaye version of Heard it Through the Grapevine. |
So I learned "Let it Be" on piano last night. Then I recorded it then recorded drums over top of that. I'm only done the first two verses but its not that bad, the drums and piano are a little off time, but what can you expect, I just learned piano and drums last night.

That's cool. I did that once too. I actually do that quite often, if I know a song on guitar I'll figure it out on piano. I transcribed and wrote down all of Stairway to Heaven for piano a couple years ago when I was more of a Zeppelin fanboy. I was thinking of learning a couple Bob Marley songs on the piano/organ. Are you gonna put vocals over it? For some reason Let It Be is one of the few songs that no matter how hard I try, I cannot sing it decently in key. I have no clue why, I consider myself a decent singer...but every time I try to play that song on guitar and sing it just sounds embaressingly off key. |
Although I may seem at times to be "closed minded" about my music i actually am not. i prefer classic rock but i actually do listen to some newer bands. If it comes off as me attacking new styles of music i am sorry for that and truly do not mean it.
Also, GNR is hard rock and rocks!! I If i were to lose all of my music i have worked so hard to get i would just die. It gets me through the day-between cds and mp3s i have thousands and thousands of songs. if i for some reason could not PLAY/Perform music i would die too. Music is my life. |
I can't stand Guns n Roses.
|
Same here. Although I do have Appetite for Destruction, it really isn't that good.
|
i only like civil war.
yet i have everything theyve done. |
I can't stand Guns n Roses.
I don't mind a lot of their songs. They have a few I think are good, a lot I think are mediocre, and a bit I think are horrible. Although I haven't actually heard a lot of their songs/albums. I like Slash's tone. I think Axls voice is good for some songs (Sweet Child O' Mine I think sounds good) but it can really get on my nerves. My computer crashes about once a year and I lose all my music. The first time was devastating because I had about 3 thousand song/album files on my computer. After that I started working anyways so I just bought albums instead of downloading songs. So now I mainly listen to albums so I don't have a whole lot of music files on my computer. My computer is bound to crash anytime now really....I've been trying to burn all my YSI albums I got onto Cds but my computer is so messed up that it freezes every time I try to burn an album. My mom keeps yelling at me to like back up all the files on our computer but I don't know how. I'm high right now and my dad is sleeping on the couch right beside me with some football game on. I wanna turn on some music, but for some reason he always wakes up and tells me to turn it down because he's sleeping...yet he can sleep with all that football racket. I despise football. Hahaha, isn't Illmatic a football fan? I remember he had a football avatar. Me and him always disagree...although I noticed he mentioned him liking Traffic. Man I can have long conversations with myself. I've been typing for like half an hour and I haven't even posted this yet. |
Its a complete toss up between CCR and Marvin, I like Marvins' more soulful sounding tempo but I also love CCRs' more rock tempo. And I like both John Fogerty and Marvin Gayes' voice about equal.
NP: Elvis Costello - Alison, not really Classic Rock but pretty close. I can't stand GnR I like Slash but I he is the only reason its listenable to me. November Rain is one of my most disliked songs. |
Football > j00
filthy hippie I got The Grateful Dead Truckin' up to Buffalo DVD, it was only $15. I don't have very high expectations for it because it was recorded in '89 and Jerry was a big fat heroin addict, we'll see though. |
I'm watching football right now. I wish I was at the game :(

I am just not a competative, macho, or violent sort of guy (not that football is like super violent, I just don't like to tackle people or be tackled). I like sports, but football just never appealed to me. I'd say soccer is my favourite...although I still only play rec. It's fun though, we don't have practices and we play once a week. It's usually just hot girls, guys trying to get with the hot girls, lazy kids, and actual good soccer players who like playing in the league because they are a hundred times better than everyone else. I'd say I fit in between the category of lazy kids and good soccer players. The truth is...I'm just lazy. I walk around too much on my own time to have the energy to run up and down fields every day chasing a ball or whatever. |
yea , im watchin football now,Georgia Tech and UNC,im cheering for Georgia Tech.
|
I can understand very clearly why people like or love football. My brother, mom and dad are all football nuts and my house is constantly filled with people to watch football games. My brother just bought some NFL package or something with like nonstop games...oh joy. I just don't like watching sports at all on TV, even sports that I love to play. And since football isn't one of the sports I play, I just have no real reason to be interested in it. I don't know any players or teams or anything so I find it kind of boring to watch.
Whatever game I was watching, one of the teams was Toronto so it must be CFL. It didn't appear that they were winning. Anyone else here bored? Lets try and think of some sports related classic rock songs. So far all I can think of is Anyone for Tennis, Big Leagues (or whatever it's called) and Glory Days. Oh wait, and the one by CCR....darn I don't remember what it's called. The baseball one. Centerfield? |
Centerfield by John Fogerty
Queen-We Will Rock You, We are the Champions Gary Glitter-Rock and Roll Pt. 1 :p (or is it 2?) |
Take me out to the ball game.
