smellslikeshoes 01-06-2005 03:37 PM

Hey does anybody know whats the hardest wood that ya can get? Im gonna make a bass and i was gonna try making the body out of the hardest wood that i can possibly get

Fernandes Power 01-06-2005 03:37 PM

1235 rep and you can see my postcount.

BassVirtuoso 01-06-2005 03:39 PM

That whole scene can kiss my ***.

How dare those kids in South Carolina call As I Lay Dying and Eighteen Visions Hardcore. A bunch of guys wear make up and make song after song that sounds exactly the same. I would love to blast some Necrophagist and Obituary in their face and show them what they will never be. Dare I expose them to true "Hardcore" like Cryptopsy and Death?
Hey does anybody know whats the hardest wood that ya can get? Im gonna make a bass and i was gonna try making the body out of the hardest wood that i can possibly get
Probably Ebony, but thats a neck wood.

...why?

RJDBass 01-06-2005 03:41 PM
Hey does anybody know whats the hardest wood that ya can get? Im gonna make a bass and i was gonna try making the body out of the hardest wood that i can possibly get
Oak but I'm not sure that would make a very good bass

smellslikeshoes 01-06-2005 03:41 PM

Yea this "emo" has very little to do with real hardcore

smellslikeshoes 01-06-2005 03:43 PM
Probably Ebony, but thats a neck wood.

...why?
Yea Ebony is mostly used for necks but I want to try make something a little different from normal basses

Mitchell Royce 01-06-2005 03:49 PM

If you want to make a bass that weighs a ton then go for ebony as a body wood.
Actually, thinking about it Alembic has made basses that have a hollow body from ebony and a neck out of ebony and purpleheart. They weigh a ton though.

smellslikeshoes 01-06-2005 04:07 PM

weight doesn't concern me
Im a big guy

hooray for death metal!

and yes, you must show them the way.

nisakss 01-06-2005 04:10 PM

Hey everyone

ridethelightning 01-06-2005 04:17 PM

hey guys

smellslikeshoes 01-06-2005 04:18 PM

Is that a dancing bear?

Fernandes Power 01-06-2005 04:20 PM
weight doesn't concern me

Have you considered the tone though?

nisakss 01-06-2005 04:25 PM

I've always tought that heavy basses give a darker medium range driven tone, whilst lighter basses are kind of brighter and crispier sounding.

smellslikeshoes 01-06-2005 04:25 PM

yes thats all im thinking about

Omega Red 01-06-2005 04:26 PM
Hey does anybody know whats the hardest wood that ya can get? Im gonna make a bass and i was gonna try making the body out of the hardest wood that i can possibly get
Ebony, Purpleheart, and Ipe are the 3 hardest woods i know of

Mitchell Royce 01-06-2005 04:27 PM

If it's made as a neck-through it will sustain like there's no tomorrow. And be very bright.

smellslikeshoes 01-06-2005 04:27 PM

I want the tone to be as dark as possible

Jaded 01-06-2005 04:27 PM

I've heard that that's a myth.
