That's kind of what I mean. I see them differently then some of the other over-ambitious bands though. So I'd say that them being "boring" comes from the fact that they are pioneering deathmetal and not much more. In that context though they managed to create very fresh yet standard death metal, in their prime.

The only Morbid Angel I've ever liked was Altars. BlessedATS was alright, Formulas and Gateways bored me, and Heretic was downright s[size=2]h[/size]itty.

I only like Domination, as I recently discovered.

The production makes the riffs sound tired. Go listen to the early demos and live bootlegs of those songs with Mike Browning. They're awesome.

IIB is such a letdown. the only thing that sticks out for me on there is the riff on the 3rd song towards the end, i dont know exact time but it sounds pretty cool.
