Anyways, what are the five essential "emocore" bands? I mean the more hardcore rlated stuff from emo's earlier days. I'm not sure on band lifespans, but I was thinking something like Heroin, Rites of Spring, Moss Icon, Embrace, Dag Nasty.
Rites of Spring, Moss Icon are definite musts! I think the Hated are a good example of sort of post RoS, pre Moss Icon style stuff (they're really really really really good, check it out!). After that came the whole Indian Summer-type wave, so I guess they'd be a good band to check out. Also Embassy, Evergreen. Then it all went screamy, so definitely check out Portraits of Past (!!!!!) and Constatine Sankathi for that period. All of this stuff is easy to find on SoulSeek. |
Yup.
I guess that once again proves INTERNETS! |

Have fun. I'll be leaving for Florida later today, so I won't be on either. |
Why exactly is he going to India?
|
That was my thought.
/start random story So today my american history teacher was absent, so everyone had to go to this lesbian biology teachers class. She was there with the lesbian gym teacher, and they said 'if you have some other class you guys want to visit, that would be great', then she kinda winked. So, i went to a lunch period im not in and then went to the concert band directors class full of mostly idiots that he has before band at the end of the day. CONCLUSION: My old biology teacher and the gym teacher did it. /end random story |

What Dfelon said. Neeshee's a crazy curry-peoples. |

Are they attractive? Since it's a gym teacher, I'm assuming no. But I can pretend. :) |

Hell naw. There are 4 types of lesbians: Hot n' young (and usually only while they're drunk), ugly n' young (usually perfectly sober),man-hating uber lesbos, and creepy old lady's. They both fall in the last category. |
I coached my friend through her transformation into lesbianism.
She dumped her boyfriend of 3 and a half years because he started looking like a chick. Her "girlfriend" looks like an utter man. She isn't very hot. She's turned in an uber lesbian, not necessarily man hating. Just very annoying and all of a sudden, very p.c. Any other bands similar to Indian Summer or Hassan I Sabbah? |
I, for some reason, was watching 'americas next top model' on VH1, and all of the chicks on there were kinda ugly. The gay photographer guy was actually more feminine than some of them.
My one friend fr a while thought she was totally bisexual, and i was just like "you got drunk and made out with your friend at a bowling alley. Your not bisexual". Meh, she wasnt, i was right. Does anyone know any emo CD's that would be found in a major chain record store like FYE? I need some new stuff. |

Thank you, kind sir. |
Yeah I forgot Yaphet Kotto. I've seen some of their stuff in stores before.

Any other bands similar to Indian Summer or Hassan I Sabbah?
Indian Summer - all the bands they did splits with, most of the band they did comps with, Amber Inn, Sinker (pre-Indian Summer), Hoover etc etc Hassan I Sabbah - Not too many bands that capture the exact same sound, but most screamo bands come close |
Cool, ill check out funeral diner and yaphet kotto. Where does the name yaphet kotto come from?
|
It's the name of an actor...
|
I see i see.
So i just saw the word popcore come up on the wikipedia page for 'mallcore'. Ive never seen it anywhere besides MX. |
really? people out here use it all the time, only properly by me and like two friends but whatever. its a popular term.
|
Ive only seen it used here. My friend's friends would all call popcore bands emo or screamo, which is funny, because some of them like those bands but still use the term emo to make fun of stuff. I'm the only person off of MX ive known to use it properly, even though when i say it, people all go 'WTF?'.
|
I listen to primarily emo and screamo bands and I still use the term emo as an insult since kids will take offense to it and I have grown tired of educating to no avail.
|
Yeah, but you know what it means, and they dont. It's like, they know that emo is emotional hardcore, but i guess they have no clue as to what hardcore is, so it seems like they know what theyre talking about, and they dont.
That had a lot of commas in it. |
It is not really that big of a deal. I can understand why people get mad about the misuse of the term (I know I did for a while) but now I don't care. It is a trend/fad watch it fade like nu-metal.
I think I addressed your comment but I am not sure because I'm not sure what the hell you were talking about the whole time, you had many different thoughts converging into one. |
Yeah, that was confusing. I think you go the gist of what i was trying to say.
In other news, every person in the world skipped school today. |
so, i just randomly bumped into jamie from off minor on soulseek.
cool. |
cool indeed.
|
so, i just randomly bumped into jamie from off minor on soulseek.
cool.
Me: Hey dude, I like Saetia. Jamie: Choke and die! I hate you! Me: Hey man, I dig Off Minor. Jamie: Dude! We are soooo good! It's crazy, man! |
envy are incredible. why it took me so long to listen to them i don't know.
|

Jamie: Choke and die! I hate you! Me: Hey man, I dig Off Minor. Jamie: Dude! We are soooo good! It's crazy, man!
hahaha. do not doubt that has happened. |
acutally, i didn't say anything about saetia.
just really talked to him about a band, and then mid-way through realized he was Jamie, and told him thanks for making great music. |
two days and no posts, what the fuck?
|
Its because the stupid thread-name
|
haha.
So. I finally have some money for some damn vinyl. Now, could someone suggest me a emo or screamo band that I haven't heard of because I'm getting sick of listening to the same bands over and over. Saetia, Indian Summer, Kite-Flying Society (I heard they're coming out with a disco? When is this?), pagenintynine, Impetus Inter, Mohinder, Jihad, Policy of Three, Hoover, Heroin, Inkwell That's all the emo/screamo I have on my computer. Thanks to whomever recommends me to whatever. :) |
the Vidablue (later there name changed to Ten Grand) seriously good!
|
Emo and screamo is what got me into hardcore music. I heard Saetia from a friend and I was just, wow. I've been really big into hardcore music at the moment and so I've decided that since I have the money for it... I should buy some vinyl and get myself back into some emo or screamo.
I just found Ten Grand's "This Is The Way To Rule" 12". Should I order that one, or continue to looks for a better record by them? |
