Go on ebay, I got mine for 30 bucks there. Then get the studs off studsandspikes.com. Studding jackets is easy. I used a steak knife to make the holes.

Pants?
Do you wear bondage pants, or something similar?
Something of the steriotypical punk look is what I mean.
If so, throw them on there.

I used the part of a swiss army knife that looks like a metal toothpick.
But you can also just stick it through by hand.

They have non-leather jackets that look exactly like leather and are just as durable. See what you think.

ratsinthecity403 12-11-2005 10:12 AM

Just go to a thrift store, and if they don't have any come back another day. My friend found a really nice, hardly used one for $45 that was almost like new.
how would you recomend making patches. Im talking like, the printed kind, not the embroidered ones.
so if you want to make a limited number of patches, like just enoufgh for you and friends, I'd reccomend doing it the traditional DIY patches, way, that is get a sencil and some fabric paint, and make patches. You should be able to find a number of instructions to that scrolling back through the posts on this thread.
Now if you want to make a bigger number, say for a band, then go with silkscreening. Since sikscreening is kind of complicated, you can email me if you need more instructions. But be warned it will cost about $30-40 (I think) to get started. of course, then you don't need to buy anything more for a long time.

My leather is too thick and it kills my thumb after about 2 studs when I put it in by hand.

cavas, where I go it's called 'duck cloth' or something. heavier fabric has wroked better for me; less cracking if you use a thick paint. Denim is dyed in a way that it gets ligher if you wash it a lot, too.

make one. Or go to the salvation army. They have more belts there than I've ever seen, ever.

holy_roller99 12-13-2005 11:34 PM

i have seen them at leather stores for 10 bucks

asdf 12-14-2005 04:40 PM

Well I've made a belt by weaving pop/beer tops together with shoelace-like strings. It works better as a necklace, but it makes a pretty interesting belt.

Could also make a duct tape belt.

Bungee chord?

Flagjacket 12-15-2005 02:45 PM

Bungee cord might constrict pretty badly.

Brain Toad 12-15-2005 02:53 PM

Extension cords are the best belts.

I have a friend that made a duct tape belt.

I have a really old leather one that I've had for a long time. It's almost too small for me now though.

D & V 12-15-2005 03:14 PM

White Beltsz

asdf 12-15-2005 03:40 PM

The only belt I have is a leather belt with studs in it that is so old I actually have had to sew it a few times.

Sebek 12-15-2005 03:49 PM

The only belt I have is an old hand-me-down that I wrapped up in duct tape. . .twice.

Flagjacket 12-15-2005 04:45 PM

My only belt is a cloth strip with two metal d rings at one end, and you somehow weave the strip through those to make it stay. It came with a pair of pants from TJ Maxx.

Liebensaft 12-15-2005 05:02 PM

Ha. I've gots me a standard stud belt, but it's nearly too big.

Isn't that the reason I posted in the D.I.Y. thread?
So I don't have to.
