Is that not the album where Wilco wrote the music for all those unreleased Woody Guthrie songs? I have only heard two Wilco songs one was good one was not.

Volume 1 is arguably the finest I've ever heard Wilco.
I really want to get Vol. 1. I've got A.M, Being There, and Hotel Yanky Foxtrot. I defnitly like Foxtrot the most of the three.

Yeah, some Zombies would be great. I've only heard Time of the Seasons, which is great, of course, so I really want to hear some more.

robo2448 03-02-2006 04:56 PM

I'll send out Odessey and Oracle.

I am completely obsessed with Traffic. I just can't stop listening to them. So good.
I'm downloading On An Island right now:) hopefully its good.
Has it actually been released yet? Or are you downloading a leak of it?

Woodstock, I was listening to Welcome to the Canteen. Definitely not the best stuff Traffic's ever done, but it's still awesome, especially the extended Dear Mr. Fantasy.

ATM 03-02-2006 06:27 PM

Hey Bus, definantly check out the Marshall Tucker Band. And Wilco are also amazing, so look into them.

I heard a nice cover of John Sinclair today, done by Blind Melon.

JonG 03-02-2006 06:34 PM

I have MTB s/t. It's good.

:)

The vocals on Dead Set are weak.

Southern Woman is such an awesome song.

I don't have that one yet. I have their s/t, Dear Mr. Fantasy, John Barleycorn Must Die, and The Low Sparks of High Heeled Boys. All of them are great.

JonG 03-02-2006 06:59 PM

I could send you it.

I have all those mentioned + On The Road.

News just in: Gov't Mule is coming to Iowa. I need a ride. I'll probably go with my dad.

:)

WelcomeToTheMachine 03-02-2006 07:00 PM

anybody want to upload some Traffic for me please?, i have none, maybe Dear Mr. Fantasy as i know that song and like it a lot.

Glitterati 03-02-2006 07:20 PM

Drive-By Truckers do kinda alternative southern rock, they're really good.

Could you send me On the Road? I've seen all of Traffic's cds in stores except for that one. All I have is John Barleycorn Must Die, s/t, and Welcome to the Canteen. I made 30 bucks on a bet the other day though, so I'm going to buy Low Spark... and CSN's debut after school tomorrow. Two albums that I should have gotten a while ago.

Edit- Yeah, I agree with Woodstock about John Barleycorn Must Die being the best starter album. That's how I got into them. But thinking about it, their s/t album is probably the most accessible. I'll upload one of those for you, WttM, but I have to upload Oddessey and Oracle first. So I probably won't get around to Traffic until tomorrow at the earliest.

Dear Mr. Fantasy is one sweet song. The rest of the album isn't as solid as s/t or John Barleycorn though.
anybody want to upload some Traffic for me please?, i have none, maybe Dear Mr. Fantasy as i know that song and like it a lot.
I'd actually recommend John Barleycorn as a good starter album. Dear Mr. Fantasy is a little harder to get into IMO.

That's weird, I bought both those albums at the same time also.

Traffic is indeed awesome. I don't have On the Road either, but have everything else up to that.

Woodstock 03-02-2006 07:51 PM

Sent out Low Spark. Tell me if there's any problems.

Volume 1 is arguably the finest I've ever heard Wilco.
Volume 1 would be a fantastic album if Billy Bragg didn't sing on any of the tracks. THe music is top notch but he annoys the living hell out of me, I skip over almost every song he sings on. The stong points in this album though are incredible, songs like "California Stars" and "Christ for President" leave me with my mouth open in awe at just how outstandingly great they are.

I'm enjoying the way this thread is looking at the moment let's keep this going. :)

Lunch 03-02-2006 07:52 PM

Magicbus do you still need the NRPS?

WelcometotheMachine, I can upload Volunteers for you.

Volunteers (the song) is one of the greatest staples of 60's rock there is.

But I will send out On The Road.

Don't have the Volunteers album, but the song is awsome. I love Somebody to Love, last week all I listened to pretty much was Surrealistic Pillow. And I have a couple really good songs from their preformace at Woodstock.

jpj 03-02-2006 08:05 PM

I've wanted Volunteers forever, but I can't find it anywhere.

I didn't like Odessey & Oracle at all when I listened to it, but I'd like to listen to it.

Also, I uploaded Forever Changes last night, but I think it only got sent out to a few people. Anyone who wants it just tell me.

Sending out On The Road right now.

In my reading class it's awesome. I listen to Nick Drake and read for an hour. Easy A.

Lunch 03-02-2006 08:06 PM

I'm uploading the NRPS s/t right now, then I'll do Volunteers.

Volunteers is a great album. It's lost the psychedelic feel of Surrealisitc Pillow for the most part, but the band is much more mature and puts out some great songs. We Can Be Together and Volunteers (both share a similar riff) are great bookends on an interesting album.

robo2448 03-02-2006 08:10 PM
Magicbus do you still need the NRPS?

WelcometotheMachine, I can upload Volunteers for you.

Volunteers is an amazing song. Maybe my favorite Jefferson Airplane song after Comin' Back to Me. Anyone else really love Comin' Back to Me? That song gets so overshadowed but it's so hauntingly beautiful. I've been looking for Volunteers for a long time but haven't found it yet.

Honestly, I feel Odessey and Oracle is a little overrated. Parts are great but it's a little inconsistent in some places.

I downloaded a Savoy Brown album off Chris. Great blues-rock. I think they opened for a few of Cream's gigs on their farewell tour. Similar blues-rock sound.

Lunch 03-02-2006 08:12 PM

The Zombies have their moments, but for a lot of the songs I just don't care to listen to them. They are a good band and underrated when compared to their contemporaries, but I get bored listening to their style of music. Odessey and Oracle is more interesting, but their early stuff is just the same sound over and over again (Zombie Heaven Discs 1 and 2). I still like them though.

I just sent out the NRPS album. If you didn't get it let me know.

PinkFreud 03-02-2006 08:15 PM

I love the Zombies. Colin Blunstone has a great voice. I would disagree with Schyma and say that Time Of The Season is one of the best songs on their. I love the witty lyrics and it has some awesom drumming and keyboard work. They're a good band.

robo2448 03-02-2006 08:57 PM

Is anyone else having trouble with ysi? Odesssey and Oracle has failed on me 3 times now. Is anyone else having problems with it, or is it just my computer?

On Oddessey and Oracle, I like it, I just don't feel that it's the masterpiece that others do. And usually I'm a fan of bonus tracks, but the bonus tracks on this make listening to the whole album in one sitting kind of a daunting task. Usually I get bored if I listen to the whole thing.

PinkFreud 03-02-2006 09:00 PM

Well, it IS very long with the bonus tracks. Haha.

I like some of the Bragg tracks. "Walt Whitman's Neice" and "Way Over Yonder in the Minor Key" are some of the album's best tracks, as well as "Christ For President", "Birds and Ships", "California Stars" and my favorite - "Hesitating Beauty".

Glitterati 03-02-2006 09:48 PM

I'm just getting into Billy Bragg. He seems pretty cool.

Jello Biafra, your User Title tossed me off guard, I was thinking you were trying to be tricking and that it was someone like Lux Interior, but then I thought about it.

Glitterati 03-02-2006 10:14 PM
It's either Yao Ming or Jamie Kennedy. Is it Jamie Kennedy?
Jac's right, it's Jello. I was about to ask if anyone here likes Dead Kennedys, because I think they were one of the best hardcore punk bands of all time. Actually, one of the best bands of all times.
